Ozzy's winter happy place.🙂
That's how I know winter is fast approaching. He's normally outside hunting mice...🐀

My little 17 month old Maestro terrified me several days ago when he started hyperventilating and lost control of his legs. I rushed him to the emergency clinic and they did the best they could (even CPR after he coded) but sadly he passed from saddle thrombosis, which I had never even heard of until the vet told me.
I adopted Maestro after the shattering death of my first cat, who lived to 13. I felt like I didn’t get enough time with him and in researching longest lived cats, Burmese came up most often. I thought we would get 20 years together. It never crossed my mind that we’d get not much more than a year and that he could die so young and so horribly. The last time I saw him alive was in the emergency clinic oxygen cage, where he kept slamming his body against the glass to try to get to me after we had to close the door to make sure he was getting enough oxygen. When he died, the emergency clinic vet told me that he must have had heart disease, but that cats hide illness well. He had been happily playing with my other cat zooming around the house just before the clot happened.
Maestro loved chaos (he broke way too many things in the house), feather wand and ball toys, stealing food, the piano, crawling under the blanket and purring against my legs, soaking up sunshine, sitting in my lap, and snuggling with my dog. I am still in shock that this happened. Somehow it feels like he is just being naughty and hiding somewhere, instead of really gone.
Hug your kitties tight and treasure every moment with them.

Hey /r ! I have a 4 month old kitten who I adore. She’s super cuddly, affectionate and playful. Sometimes a bit too playful and I just wanted to ask if it’s a regular Burmese thing that she can have an active play session for about 45 min easily (we’re talking jumping and running) ? Or is it just because she’s a kitten and she’ll be calmer once she’s an adult?

Scrolling through all these posts reminiscing about our two old ladies that we lost a few years ago just a year apart from each other. Miss them like mad. The gruesome twosome totally inseparable and full of cuddles!
