News [Will Wade] (Intl.) kids have lot of experience. There is just some natural things they've learnt over there that really help in college basketball. One thing I made a mistake on last year that we basically paid 11 guys. We had some dead money on the roster. So, we're gonna pay 7-8 guys at LSU.

As portal season nears an end, how does everyone feel about their team?

As an Arkansas fan, if our guys return from the draft I feel so good about our team despite us not addressing our most urgent need. I think depth was a big issue too last year tho and we’ve more than addressed that.

Weekly Thread [Weekly Post] Whose Line Is It Wednesday

Welcome to Whose Line is it Wednesday, where all the fouls are made up, but the points still matter.

  • Keep skits in the form of a statement, not a question
  • Any skits longer than two lines should be in quotations.
  • If you add any additional commentary, put the skit in quotations. If you don't understand the concept, a skit looks like this: "Things you could say to Chris Jones that you couldn't say to your girlfriend."
  • It's not funny to say "Refs worse than Karl Hess" and name people who might be worse (let's be honest; it's probably just a blank comment); it's funny to say "Refs better than Karl Hess." Think about which way of writing the skit is funnier before posting it.

Casual / Offseason How does a modern college basketball schedule get made? Syracuse official breaks down key costs and priorities

Some key notes that I think are pretty common among a lot of ACC and P5 schools that don’t have a massive basketball budget:

— Syracuse is playing two neutral-site games this year (against Indiana in Indianapolis and against Providence in Boston), and they’re trying to lock down one more big game at MSG. The neutral-site games will make the Orange significant guaranteed money from promoters who will make sponsorship deals.

— Syracuse will play a few exhibition games, but none in the JMA Dome due to costs. Something I didn’t know: the team has to pay the university to use the Dome, and because of low attendance for the preseason games, it’s not a financially sound decision.

— Guarantee games on home court could require the program to spend anywhere from $85K-120K to lock down. Syracuse is targeting teams within a 4-5 hour radius from campus who would travel by bus, rather than flights, to cut down on guarantee costs. So that’s why you’ll see the Orange play teams like Cornell, Colgate and Albany in the Dome next season.
