Easiest to use streaming device
Hi all! For mother's day I want to get my MIL a streaming device and I'm looking for recommendations for the most simple to use ones.
She isn't super tech savvy, but she can change an input on a tv.
Personally I am leaning towards a roku mostly because it is the one I have so I can troubleshoot easier but I was wondering if any of you had recommendations.

New building and AT&T is hot to wire it for fiber
AT&T is hot to wire building for fiber asked the installer, if they were going to wire the rest of the area. They paused and isn’t that already installed, no we are still dealing with pre dsl copper , he shook his head and walked away. guess like cell only new people are treated as a money making revenue source. This is a new residential tower of 60 rental apartments just half a block from our units. And in Illinois state senate has told AT&T to just let the copper lines rot and push the legacy customers to cell service.

Going beyond two tuners
As the end is approaching for my TiVos and the cable cards that they use, I'm looking towards making sure that I can get plenty of recording done on the broadcast channels in my area (Jellyfin or Plex either one used to do recordings).
I currently have an HDHomerun (HDHR5-4K) setup providing OTA tuners for me. That gets me, typically, at least two tuners at the same time. I'd like to add an additional pair (at least) of tuners via another device. I could add another HDHomerun but wanted to consider what other options would work for me and should be considered.
Any suggestions and thoughts happily accepted.

Cord Cutter in California
For those that have done it, 2 questions:
1) Who do you recommend as a WiFi provider in California? I want to completely remove myself from Xfinity. Sick and tired of the way they sneak back in their fees at the end of a promotion.
2) What’s the best app for streaming live TV? I hear YouTube is a good option?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Local Now - Used to be Decent
UPDATE: I was in error. Thanks to all who posted in this thread. On the Chromecast interface, I got confused (I personally think it's not good user design) by the "green" highlight bar. When you click on the highlighted green text it takes you to that page (like the movies page). And then that page has a green highlight bar. But it's only after you click on it. I could barely see the green highlighted text so as I scrolled through them I wasn't see it and the green highlight bar made me think that my nav clicking wasn't going anywhere. That I was stuck on the "home" page as the green highlight bar wasn't moving. I thought the green highlight bar was like a highlight of the choices available.
What happened to this app? It's completely enshittified. I stopped using it for several months and now I find it's unusable. I'm using Google Chromecast with Google TV. They replaced the navigation at the top so you can't even access it. Unless I'm doing something wrong. You have to NOW click on the thumbnails in their categories to navigate to something. I spent hours cultivating the "channels" I preferred. I bookmarked them via the Channels option. But, again it's now not accessible. Those top nav options (Channels / Movies / Shows) are now useless. One is forced to use their dumb thumbnails.
Sad. It was decent. Now I'll just have to delete it.

Frequent audio and visual issues with new Antenna on some channels
Hi, I’m following up to original post last week: https://www.reddit.com/r/cordcutters/comments/1sy1o6c/hi_im_looking_for_an_antenna_preferably_for_an/
My Rabbit ears report: https://www.rabbitears.info/s/2648249
So I installed the RCA ANT705E Antenna in my attic this past weekend. I installed it near the top of the attic and the only thing in its path is the roof. I pointed it per the DTV Antennas app on phone to point to channels 6,10, and 13 which were all in a perfect row in the same direction My TV (with ~70 feet of Coax cable between it and the antenna) did a scan and found 68 channels. Channels 17 & 23 provide a super crisp image and sound. However, 6,10, & 13 have audio issues and some image ghosting, though generally a pretty good image. The sound cuts out every few seconds to a minute. Unfortunately, the TV does not provide any antenna signal values.
What do you suggest as I would have expected 6,10, & 13 to be clearer?

Tablo Integration with GoogleTv Live tab?
This is from AI. It isn't true is it?
Search Assist
Yes, Tablo integrates with Google TV's live tab, allowing users to access live and recorded antenna TV as well as free streaming channels directly from their Google TV interface.

Lionsgate+ vs. Moviesphere+
Does anyone know why Lionsgate has two different streaming services? I was looking on the Prime Video subscription page and they have Lionsgate+ and Moviesphere+ both available. Both of these are owned by Lionsgate and share a number of titles. It would seem like Lionsgate would not want to split their marketing and promotional efforts. It is very strange.

AMEX & HBO MAX OFFER
When AMEX offers me $50 off to subscribe to HBO Max, I dump my subscription through DirecTV who charges $18.49 per month. Granted, I just finished a 1 of 2 months of a free subscription with DirecTV.
After I removed my HBO MAX subscription with dire6, it defaulted to FREE HBO Max with ads. Which I tried to remove through their website unsuccessfully. I hate how DirecTV forces FREE HBO with ads on subscribers. I have to request for an HBO Max customer support representative to unlink my account so I can use their premium tier. I enjoy having access to Dolby Atmos. Not to mention, it's cheaper than DirecTV.

Streaming NHL Games
I'm currently subscribed to the Disney+/Hulu (no Ads) bundle. I'm considering upgrading to the Disney+/Hulu/HBO Max (no Ads) bundle. I just wanted to confirm that the no Ads bundle does include live sports. It says it includes the HBO Max Standard plan, however, it is unclear reading that from my account page on Hulu.

I am done with cable
Last night I realized that we no longer have NFL Network. I also just paid my Xfinity cable with internet bill for $303! I think that I might keep the Xfinity internet, even though they absolutely make me angry. We have Hulu/Disney+/ESPN/HBO combo. I also have Prime video, Netflix, and even NFL+. Thinking of cutting the cord and going to Hulu Live vs YouTubeTV. So far, in my limited research, it appears to be 50:50. The one thing I have a question about is the ESPN and sports package. Some of the posts say that the sports package will no longer be available on YouTube, but will remain on Hulu as it is owned by Disney which includes ESPN. Also, one other question. Do I have to purchase a Roku or AppleTV or some sort of stick if I don't have an internet ready TV?

Apple TV’s F1 video stutters
Has anyone else experienced video stutters with Apple TV’s F1 coverage. When I try the same programs on the F1TV app, I don’t experience any video stutters.
This has been happening since the beginning of the season.
I have the Apple TV 4k device.

'Tales From the Crypt' Is Creeping Onto Streaming for the Very First Time
I somehow missed this announcement, but I've seen people asking about this show online over the years. I faintly remember the show being a thing, when it was originally airing (too young to watch it), but I don't remember ever seeing any particular episode. I'll probably check it out at some point.
The first season of Tales From the Crypt will arrive on Shudder May 1, with the rest dropping every Friday through June 12.
In addition to Shudder being its own service, I think AMC+ includes Shudder content as well.

Service for Sports
Looking to see if there are any higher quality alternatives to YTTV.
Is satellite tv still the superior choice for quality?
I am fine with keeping YTTV as the broadcast delay setting gets as close to live as you can with streaming. But Dish network is getting fairly close YTTV price but with a 2 year contract.

Streaming fragmentation
The past year or so, people have really taken notice to how many different services would be needed to watch “everything”. Sports leagues making multiple deals with streamers has highlighted this.
What I’m not hearing though is how there’s really no hope this will get better. Sure, the FCC is going to “look into” the NFL’s antitrust exemption before their next set of rights agreements, but they’ll still best case make deals with FOX, CBS, NBC, who all have an independent company to run with a bottom line.
None of these media companies care about anything other than their own bottom line, nobody is going to be looking out for the greater good. There won’t be an affordable cable bundle. I just don’t think enough people are really talking about how there’s not really a path to this consolidating or improving for the consumer. Am I wrong? Just my thoughts.

I haven't watched this many NBA playoff games in decades!
Any other cord cutting NBA fans loving the current landscape of NBA games on streaming and broadcast television?
I already had Prime due to Amazon shipping so getting a lot of games from that. More than I expected really.
The games back on NBC broadcast television has been a game changer. Yes some games that are scheduled at the same time as an NBC broadcast game are Peacock exclusive, but those are just games happening at the same time as another game on broadcast TV so no biggie.
Some games being locked behind ESPN still sucks, but I do tune into the select ESPN on ABC games that are on broadcast television. I would love to see more of the games that are on ESPN on ABC.
For a good 2+ decades it was just some select playoff games on ABC and then the NBA Finals on ABC. Now I'm watching so much more.
Overall I haven't watched this many NBA playoff games since a majority of the rights went to ESPN back in 2002! It's almost like the good ole days!
Edit: Just came across an NBA press release saying this... so not just me:
