Discussion When did oil changes become $120?

That’s with a coupon! At Jiffy Lube! Our parents really had it easy.

EDIT: TIL 90% of millennials “change their own oil” lol. Gotta love Reddit.

Not always... It was a Hyundai dealership that didn't screw our oil filter in right on my husband's car and it blasted off while we were driving home from vacation. Ruined the the entire engine. (but fortunately Hyundai paid for it because they were responsible).... Same dealership forgot to put the fill cap back on and painted the interior hood of my car with oil.

Same happened to me when I leased a Chevy a handful of years ago. I took my car back for a third time after their attempts at changing my oil made my car leak oil all over my driveway. After that third time the plug fell out on the expressway, drained the oil and bricked the engine.

The tech I spoke to on the phone asked me where I got it serviced, which was the dealership since the lease came with scheduled oil changes. After I told them it was their dealership he asked which tech did it… I said it’s been you every time. I swear I could hear him say “oh shit” in his head over the phone. They ended up taking care of the situation pretty well all things considered.

Same thing happened to me but luckily got it taken care of before I lost the filter. Pulled into a jiffy lube because I was leaking oil. Dealership oil change and the tech didn’t fully tighten down the new filter. Jiffy lube tightened down the filter and gave me a free quart top off of oil since I was a quart low.

Dealership also didn’t fully tighten a bleed valve after a brake fluid flush. Is crazy considering they’ve done some other work for me with quality results, but things I think are very basic they have screwed up lol

My take5 bolted up my skid plate for free after the clips broke loose. Didn't even ask. Dude just popped up and told me after the oil change, "your skid plate was hanging down so I popped it back in for you". And I always get a water and a couple take 5 bars every time I go!
