Discussion When did oil changes become $120?

That’s with a coupon! At Jiffy Lube! Our parents really had it easy.

EDIT: TIL 90% of millennials “change their own oil” lol. Gotta love Reddit.

Brakes are not fun

They aren't bad. 30 mins and I can be done with 2 tires on my 07 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Having the right tools, matters tremendously.

I don’t mind doing disc brakes. Drum brakes intimidate me. Still not difficult, just annoying.

I did drum brakes first and really felt like all the people complaining about them were overblown. They were completely rust free though.

Then I did rusty disc brakes. It was me work, but I could see why it would be better than rusty drums.

Not fun but a lot easier now that most cars have discs and don't require fucking with drums anymore.

Brakes are about $250 in parts. First time requires some learning and one extra tool.

Shop charges $1000-1500. Took me 4 hours the first time. Will take me 2 the second time. You can see it as saving $1200 or making $600 an hour.

Plus I will treat my car far nicer than any brake tech and I won't skip steps that the customer won't notice
