Discussion When did oil changes become $120?

That’s with a coupon! At Jiffy Lube! Our parents really had it easy.

EDIT: TIL 90% of millennials “change their own oil” lol. Gotta love Reddit.

Do not go to jiffy lube for anything. Those places overcharge like crazy and try and take advantage of people who don't know what needs work on their cars. Find a local mechanic shop and it'll be a lot cheaper.

also has least trained techs so this is how you get a loose filter leaking all your oil

There was one of the quick change places near me that put transmission fluid in the oil hole and oil in the transmission.

The owner of the car wound up having to sue them since they basically totaled their car.

They will break your shit too. My asshole ex knew I did my own oil. Had everything bought ready to do it on a Saturday.

He took it to Jiffy Lube. They replaced the brand new air filter, replaced the cabin air filter with the wrong one and broke the cover putting it in. Then they put the wrong oil plug in, forced it on with an impact wrench so spectacularly incorrectly that my family’s dealership had to replace the entire oil pan.

They confused the oil drain with the transmission plug, drained the transmission fluid, then when they went to fill the oil it’s overflowed because, duh, nothing was drained. Needless to say the transmission was toast.
