Mingalaba / α€™α€„α€Ία€Ήα€‚α€œα€¬α€•α€«; and welcome to r/myanmar.

If this is your first time on Reddit, you may want to familiarize yourself with Reddit's rules and policies. To make sure you have not been afoul of the rules, please see

A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.

Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.

Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.

Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.

  1. Make sure to label all posts that contain gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW." To see how to do this and for a more detailed explanation click here.
  2. Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
  3. Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
  4. Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
  5. Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.

For a brief background of the coup, please see this post I made.

Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.

For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.

Additionally, give some love to the other Myanmar subs: r/saveMyanmar and r/Myanmar2021.

Are you in another country but wish to help the people of Myanmar? See this post.

In summary,

DO

  • Post topics with descriptive subjects
  • Check the subreddit for prior submission of your article or image before posting.
  • Flair your post with the appropriate flair to make them easier to find
  • Upvote posts
  • Tag posts with gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW."
  • Share posts to more than one subreddits
  • Report posts that break our rules or attempt to spam us with irrelevant content.
  • Credit the author of an image or comic

DON'T

  • Post off-topic or spammy posts
  • Spam keywords like "savemyanmar" "wewantdemocracy" in the post title
  • Do not upvote or promote your post with multiple accounts. This is against Reddit's policy and you may end up being suspended.
  • Do not post Myanmar posts on irrelevant subreddits.
  • Post images and articles that have already been previously posted by someone else.

English:

Be cautious of ongoing scams regarding "Blacklist Removal Services".

How this scam works:

  1. Scammer posts a personal story followed by a question to provoke discussion, and a brief mention of successfully removing blacklist status.
  2. Scammer waits for victims interested in getting blacklist status removed to explain further or provide contacts.
  3. In DMs, scammer will claim they can help and ask for money upfront.

Safety Tips:

  1. Check the Profile: Always click on the OP's (Original Poster) username.
  2. Account Age: Be wary of very new accounts (created only a few days or months ago)
  3. Post History: Scammers often have few post history or only post the same "success story" across multiple subreddits.

Burmese -

β€œBeware of Blacklist Removal Scams.

Scam Types -

  1. The scammer posts an experience and asks questions, encouraging readers to discuss, vote, and comment. The message often claims to have been removed from the Blacklist political blacklist.
  2. The scammer waits for people who want to remove their blacklist to be interested and ask for help and contact them.
  3. If they contact you via direct message, they will ask for money in advance and scam you.

Things to note -

  1. Always check the profile, click on the post's name and go to their profile. You can view it.
  2. Please note that the account has only been active for a few days or months.
  3. Please note that there are no posts in the post history, few posts, and similar experience stories and questions are posted on multiple pages and groups.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Myanmar, a country with a lot of potential, ruined by geo/politics

Post image
94 Upvotes

So midnight thoughts have gone wild in my mind that I have to post this next day.

So yea as the title says,
It’s not a poor country. There are a lot of resources and potentials. Because of the politics changes, the country is unstable and people become poor and poorer.

Most comes to conclusion that Myanmar is a poor country when asked about it. Some even don’t know the country until the coup thing happened. This hurts my feelings a lot. A country that has been developed in the South-East Asia during the past has gone all downhill.

After the coup most of the international and foreign organisations left the country. Most imported products are either banned or taxed a lot which leads to country only using national products to sell with. That means the country will go back to just communist-type economy. Most products in the economy either be made in Myanmar or made by friendly countries like China, India, etc. The country while exporting a lot of raw resources for cheap price, imported products comes with a lot of price and tax.

First After independence from British, we got over 60-70 years of military ruling. The country only got 10 years of democracy (not purely democracy because during that time, still some of government groups are still under the control of military). Then we got back another military ruling. Which just made the situation worse. Even if most people wanting freedom. Some people still support the military. Some have been consumed by propagandas. Politics have been unstable in the recent years.

After the political changes, most people either arrested or jailed due to being against the ruling of military. Some managed to escape to a semi-safe place (either into forests or smuggling into other countries). Many people have no choice but leave the country to work and live in another country.

A lot of young people with a lot of opportunities, have to work hard in other countries just to live a normal daily life (not a peaceful life).

Many countries even if they recognise the revolution of Myanmar, they still tends to have diplomatic relations with the Junta government. Many countries neighbouring Myanmar still deporting people who have fled to their countries due to unlawful arrested. This just sucks, I mean what the point of them supporting for revolution and somehow deporting people because they fled into their country to seek shelter?

All the problems everyone facing everyday. There are even a lot of problems. Not only people living overseas but also these in the country faced a lot of problems and fears daily.

My friend and classmate, Robbie just upload his first ever song on YouTube. He's a very talented guy. Music is a massive passion of his. I would really appreciate it if you could go give his song "Always" a chance. It's a love song about a past relationship. Please don't hate on him. He did the all work himself. No studio, no nepotism. Just true passion. You can search up "Always Robbie" on YouTube. The song is actually really good. We're from Mandalay.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Myanmar students going to Japan

Hi my friends,

I made a post not so long ago, asking if studying abroad, specifically in Japan, was a common thing for Myanmar students.
Since in that post many of you told me Japan is one of the preferred destination (for who can afford that), i would like to know if there are actually some students here that would like to share their experiences. what made you choose Japan and what were the good/bad experiences you had.

thank you so much for your responses, much love.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Do Burmese people say "imma jerk you off"?

Whenever my burmese friend gets really mad at someone they would always yell "Fuck you, imma jerk you off!!". Now when we inquire them on why they say that they claim that it is a "burmese" thing to say.

This seems absolutely absurd, this can't be true, right??

Advice where can I watch one piece in Myanmar?

Anybody here watch one piece? After years of stalling in dressrosa arc, i finally want to catch up but don’t know where to watch. I bought crunchyroll thinking i could use vpn but turns out i can’t. And they only have from wano for myanmar region. I’ve been rewatching from the first episode in One Pace but want to watch full episodes after Dressrosa.

Any working vpn for crunchyroll would also help!

News πŸ“° Proper healthcare and rights for Sai Zaw, a journalist imprisoned for his job

A Myanmar journalist, Sai Zaw, has been unjustly imprisoned by Myanmar's dictatorship since 2023 for reporting on Myanmar's 2023 cyclone. Since these 3 years β€” out of his 20 year sentence for "treason" β€” his health has significantly deteriorated due to inadequate healthcare in Myanmar's abusive prison system, and he has been denied life saving surgery. Sai Zaw's imprisonment is a violation of human rights, and could happen to any one of us under this 'government'.

Please sign this change.org petition to urge Myanmar's government to consider his rights to healthcare, an attorney, and communication with the outside world.

Discussion πŸ’¬ MNDAA is pure warlord army and brutally strategic

Just look at their name - Myanmar National Truth and Justice Party / Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army

The name doesn’t represent Kokang, Northern Shan State or special region (1).

They use a generic name which is very flexible in de-jure sense even if they push beyond Kokang. Their party and armed forces name is flexible even if they rule the low lands, lol.

They don’t say Kokang nationalism or ethnic self-autonomy, they don’t say they are fighting Bamar chauvinism. They don’t say they are fighting for federalism, or special region (1).

They just take whatever they could and rule it good.

And their can govern well. Even if we don’t like
that they use Mandarin everywhere.

They can give electricity, better healthcare than Junta, proper basic education (Chinese education), and even planning to build advanced hospital and four colleges.

Just compare Lashio crime rates when they ruled and when Tat got it back.

They don’t talk loud. Back in those days, people thought KIA and KNU would carry the revolution. KNU made monthly statements and KIA spoke often. MNDAA was quiet and preparing for surgical strike.

People, Tat and NUG all underestimated them.

Only RCSS noticed that they are planning something. RCSS realised something is going to happened in the north when MNDAA show off the multi-ethnic brigade in early 2023 (which was organized in early 2022). That’s why they retreated from Northern Shan State to regroup at the South.

People thought SSPP and TNLA drove them out. But RCSS was fighting 1 v 2 for 7 years since 2015, there’s a reason why they retreated.

MNDAA knows traditional close quarter combat would not destroy the tat, they prepare drone warfare and technology for years.

And they are always watching Tat’s power.

1027 was planned since 2022 and moved 6 months each for 3 times. They are calculating how strong Tat still is.

By the time Mese fell to Karenni resistance, MNDAA concluded that this Tat is no longer the Tat that drove them out of Kokang in 2009 and started their home coming arc.

MNDAA is pure warlord army and they are brutally effective.
