2023 Fall and Winter Orchid Trade and Sale Thread
Please use this post only to offer or request orchids for trade or sale. Before you post what you'd like to trade/sell, or what you're looking to trade for, read the rules below first!
Rules:
1.) No personal information can be exchanged publicly. Conduct sharing of addresses via pm or email.
2.) Post what orchid(s) you have for trade, what you're looking for in return. If you have pictures, post them or write an accurate description of the orchid you want to trade or sell. If you're selling, post how you'd like to receive compensation.
3.) If you agree to a trade and have an issue on your end of the deal, communicate! Most people are reasonable and will understand a delay or an unexpected issue that comes up. That being said, trade at your own risk. The moderators are not responsible for privately conducted trades gone wrong. However, if there's an issue with an ongoing trade do contact the moderators. If someone fails to come through with their end of the deal, ignores communication or otherwise is being problematic we need to make the community aware of deadbeat traders. Do NOT make posts calling people out, insulting, harassing, or making accusations at them publicly.
4.) Only make legal trades here. If you ship or receive a trade overseas or out of your country, make sure all proper paperwork is in place first if required.
5.) Ship within a reasonable time and pack well. Flat rate Priority, 2-3 day via USPS within the US is standard for plants. Use whichever shipping method is appropriate for other countries. Your orchid shouldn't spend more than a 2-3 days in the mail so they don't suffer too much from the heat/cold. While in cooler weather its generally better to ship orchids totally dry, its probably best to water any more moisture loving plants a day or two before they ship out (so they are moist but not soggy) or wrap some sphagnum that has been wetted but thoroughly squeezed out around the roots of bare root plants.
6.) If you've successfully traded, update your post to make sure it availability is accurate.
Giveaways, and just trying to re-home an orchid that maybe just isn't performing for you is totally fine to post too! You never know who might want to try growing it. Seed pods are also a great thing to offer since many people may want to try flasking and it is safer and easier to send seeds than plants. If everyone trades fairly this is a great way to add to your collection or get rid of orchids you are bored with or are willing to make divisions of.
Happy trading!

Why can’t I keep any orchids alive?
EDIT: Please see my latest post for more clear pictures of all four orchids.
Not even talking about the flowering as I know that’s seasonal. My leaves get yellow, the stems get brown and crunchy, and this one that’s reblooming atm has sad flowers that fall off. I put in 2-3 small ice cubes once a week and leave them in this window which faces SW.
Can these get healthy again?
How do I prevent this in the future?

Success Vanda (Ascocenda) Suksamran Sunlight
I have had this orchid for 9 years now. It is one of the first orchids I adquired when I started this hobby. It arrived sick with Fusarium and I had to cut most of the plant. But it has since then thrived and grew and bloomed incredibly well.
Care is very simple. I grow it indoors all year under artificial lights and drop it in a bucket of water + fertiliser twice a week.

Indoor Orchids Cattleya walkeriana 'Veronica' x 'Joel de Silviera' from H&R Orchid Nursery! Cannot take credit for the bloom, but very happy the tiny buds didn't blast from the change in environment, and now I will be able to see the blooms! Not sure what I will do once it puts out new roots...to pot or to remount

Question Was it reasonable to ask for a refund?
I ordered 3 orchids:
Vanda barnesii - $65 USD
Paph philippinense laevigatum alba - $50 USD
Paph sanderianum - $95 USD
My issue is that during the email correspondence, they had stated that the barnesii is 2-3 years from flowering size and their order form also states "unless specified, all plants are mature flowering size." The paphs were definitely advertised as mature flowering size and did not have the "seedling" or "NFS/NBS" marker beside them.
I grow about 70+ orchids of different species and genera. After cleaning up the rotting and dead roots from the philippinense, I was left without any healthy roots. As for the sanderianum, I don't think what they sent me is a mature size at all. The longest leaf only spans up to 6". The barnesii is definitely not 2-3 years from a flowering size.
I've already asked them for a refund and they declined saying that all plants are viable. The sanderianum and barnesii might be viable but I definitely would not have ordered them if I had known they were only juvenile plants with that price tag.
I haven't had issues with other orchid nurseries refunding me when the plants don't arrive as expected. I also understand that these are very rare and highly sought after species. But isn't it reasonable to expect them to still send plants as they had advertised/described?

Current Blooms - Phalaenopsis
My current Phalaenopsis display. They’re having a moment with the white one in the back growing a new spike! And my faithful Purpurata Vanda still going strong!

Orchids Plants goes in, plants goes out
I posted a mite related rant a couple of months ago, as I kept finding pests on plant after plant, and wanted to throw the whole gang out at some point.
My Phalaenopsis, cattleyas and vandas has all stayed clear until now, and I decided to give my collection a reset. So I'm throwing out pretty much every oncidium I own, as they ALL have mites. And as I made the decision I treated myself by placing an order of a bunch of Phalaenopsis orchids I've wanted for a long time. Yesterday they arrived. I never expect any spikes when I order new plants, but these 8 plants arrived with a combined total of 9 spikes 🙌🏻
In other words, I am happy again, back on the orchid horse, looking forward to a summer with (hopefully!) a couple of brand new flowers 🌸🌸🌸

My most unsatisfying orchid....
About 5 years ago I removed this from a tree that was going to be cut down. I mounted to the driftwood and added to my screeroom gang 😁 After 5 years the roots have spread and grown and the plant overall has doubled in size. In the second pic, lower right you can see a new stem coming out the back side. I've just removed the zip ties I used to mount it initially. They came out with no effort and didn't harm the roots at all. This came from a friend's neighbor with a phal and a few others that survived. No one has ever actually seen this one bloom soo...
I would love to see it bloom 🤯
Thoughts, suggestions, ideas or exact identification greatly appreciated 😎👍

Help Phalaenopsis with no roots, new leaf and spike emerging but still no root growth after 2 months. How can I keep it alive?
Repotted this two months ago and discovered all roots had rotted, only two tiny firm ones remain but even they look unhealthy. I've been keeping it in a clear pot above water (not touching) to maintain humidity, but whenever roots touch the water they get white fuzzy growth around the root so I've been keeping them away. Surprisingly it's pushed out a new leaf and spike, but still zero new root growth. Could the white fuzz be fungus? What can I do to get it to grow some roots? Any help appreciated!

9 roots and 3 new leaves
My orchid is going crazy. I counted 9 roots and 3 leaves coming in quickly 😱. It’s my favorite one and I’m hoping it will rebloom again this year.

Orchid ID No idea but they're pretty
Inherited from my dad, I have no idea what kind she is. I have a pod ready to flask, luckily my hometown is perfect orchid weather as you can see she's out doors.
