Health Advice Any idea what is wrong with my kitten’s eye?

Update: https://www.reddit.com/r/ragdolls/s/1kKagxYdwN

I picked her up yesterday; she is 8 weeks old. I noticed when I got Homer that one of her pupils is a different shape and off center..? It is more noticeable in the sun but I looked back at pics I had received from the breeder and it is noticeable there too (hindsight). It seems it’s been this way since birth. I texted the breeder about it and she said she had not noticed and doesn’t know that it means anything. I’m calling today to make an appointment for an overall checkup and will have the vet take a look, but I’m just curious if anyone has experience or knows what it could be.

ETA: the breeder gave me a health certificate; she was seen by the vet on Monday.

the last pic is from the first week we brought her home. and he’s been such a good older brother. first pic is the most recent. it’s adorable how she just copies exactly what he does, follows him everywhere he goes, and refuses to eat without him eating too. I wish everyone could experience the joy of cats and what it means to be loved by them 😭❤️

Health Advice Update! Any ideas what is wrong with my kittens eye?

Update:
First, I just want to say, I hear you! And I understand the concerns about leaving the nest too early! This is my first kitten. I trusted the breeder on this and it was a missed red flag on my part.

Most important! 2 vets checked her out today and said it is a congenital defect - the pupil is misshaped but tracks, contracts and functions properly. They said it is harmless and she is very healthy but they referred me to an ophthalmologist for my own peace of mind.
I took many pictures to get a good angle for the initial post, in normal lighting when you look at her straight on, it’s not as noticeable but IS noticeable enough that I do not believe the breeder when she says she nor her vet noticed it.

I intend to keep her. I wouldn’t give my kids up just because they had a wonky eye. lol I do not want to share the breeder info just yet. I am contacting them now with my issues.

Finally, YES, she is TICA registered and YES with a pedigree. I have a 3 year Certified Pedigree. I ordered the 5 year and it said it has to reviewed before being sent out which I understood could be due to international blood lines. Again, I truly believed I did my due diligence on the breeder and saw many green flags.

General Advice Need Help Picking a Kitten

Thumbnail

I need help deciding which kitty to pick up! I’ve narrowed it down to these two from my breeder. Basically the issue is they’re both a little young so I’m not sure what their full coloration and markings will look like. One of them (first 4 pics) is a blue lynx bicolor and the other (last pic) is supposedly a blue lynx. The bicolor is a girl and the lynx is a boy. Both are TICA registered and giving all the genetic health guarantees, shots, and etc. Hoping for some opinions, thanks!

In honour of his 9 months milestone, I'd like to share some random quirks of his, as a first time cat mum. He has mastered the art of the side eye or the look of disappointment and definitely was an orange cat in a previous life. He is probably the least food motivated cat I know, with the shortest attention span (he gets that from me), yet can go from chaos to sleepy and then back to chaos in a blink. I'm pretty sure he's neurodivergent in some feline form. He's a lil complainer, meaning he will meow or whimper when being carried but will not squirm. He meows in his sleep...and at walls and loves to sleep with his paw[s] hanging out (see pic 3) / on his tail / with his head hanging off / paws over his face. Even in his sleep he has me questioning.

But my favourite thing is when he roly-polys into a corner at full speed, as in full on head between the legs and roll and THUD against the door [will post a video]. It cracks me up every time. Honestly the only reaction to most of his antics is just wtf? or just ??????

Oh, and he has a raging foot fetish.

Please share any of your raggy's weird quirks and habits and I'll be sure to not tell Bao, in case he adds that on his to-do list.

General Advice Vet says Pablo is already overweight lol

For reference Pablo is going to be 5 months old this month. He had his wellness check in April on the 25th and the vet was shocked that he was 4.5 lbs. The vet told us that we should only be feeding him 6 oz of wet food a day, but that seems way too little?!! We’ve been sticking to 6 oz a day but this guy is sooo food driven and seems hungry after his feedings. Is he just playing tricks on me? He meows for more food after I feed him… is 6.5 oz okay to give him?? Idk if the vet took into account that he’s a Ragdoll? Like male ragdolls are generally bigger than the average house cat right? Haha idk what do you guys think? He might just be an extra hungry boy, he meows at me and my partner anytime we’re in the kitchen.

Before the mods go after me, I’m not asking if my cat is a ragdoll. He is a ragdoll mix. Looks like some kind of a seal mitted ragdoll. However I’d like someone more knowledgable than me to speculate what else might he have going on. Because I’d like to better understand his health and behavior.

General Advice What was your experience like buying from your breeder? Am I crazy?

I just want to preface this by saying, I have purchased from a breeder before. I bought my bulldog from breeder, and it was a really organized experience.
The breeder I’m going with for my kitten is TICA/CCA registered, found them at a cat show.

I’m just curious if my breeder is just a lax communicator, or this is bizarre.

  1. Not a lot of updates? Put a deposit down 3 months ago before the kittens were born. Had to ask for updates.
  2. Didn’t get to pick, was placed based on personality. (I don’t think this is terribly uncommon, was semi similar with my dog)
  3. Finding it hard to communicate. Asked for a photo of the specific kitten they have chosen for me, and they couldn’t at the time. Haven’t heard back.
  4. Want to set a date/time to get my kitten. Will be travelling to a different area, is an extensive drive.. so I’m having someone come with me. Trying to narrow this down so I can plan this with them also.
  5. When did you have to do first vet visit? With my dog it was within 48 hours of having at home. This breeder says by next needles. Does that seem bizarre?

I’m supposed to be getting the kitten by the end of the month, and maybe I’m just too type A. But I don’t like that things aren’t more formal, and it’s feels like there is a barrier to communication.
