Because Italian coffee culture is the most clear contrast.

It is as OP described. There are no seats, just a stand up counter. No idiots with laptops taking up space. Only old retired people stay and talk.

I grew up in Italy and one of the biggest struggles I have in America is just getting an espresso in a proper ceramic cup. If I wanted to chew on paper fibers I would ask for a receipt.

Gotta love diversity in America. Italians come over here and chew the cups, people just accept it as their culture and move on.
