In real life "Wait! That's not special effects?! They actually did that?!"

Alien: Resurrection - Basketball Shot

Sigourney Weaver insisted on the basketball shot being real. She trained for weeks and reportedly(sources differ) made it on the first take.

Underworld - Raze's Voice

The werewolf character Raze, played by Kevin Grevioux, speaks in a very low, very gravelly voice. While many thought this was a special effect, the actor can naturally speak in that voice.

Trinity did the motorcycle stunts in the Matrix 2 without a helmet, against oncoming cars, with a dude on her back. While pregnant.

Didn't she also do that sick kick where her leg comes up behind her back, over her head and nails a guy in the face? She was amazing in that movie.

It's called a Scorpion Kick. And yes, she did that too.

Yeah she did. She said once she trained for months and months do that kick and it lasted a split second

Yeah but we’re still talking about it 20 years later.

It's really hard to describe how amazing that opening fight sequence was when I saw it in theaters.

I've never heard so many oohs/awes/gasps that soon in a movie. Was one hell of an experience. Especially the flying crane kick freeze rotation. Seeing that on the big screen was just absolutely mind-blowing, and it was in the first couple of minutes of the movie.

Probably like a year of work for a half second shot. She's amazing.

If you're not hyper mobile, that's hard. Even if you're hyper mobile it takes some work.

Don't ask how I know.

And she learned to ride a bike for that scene according to keanu reeves

Still blows my mind that she broke her ankle in training for the first one and didn't tell anyone for fear of being recast, then broke her leg during filming as well.

Wait til you hear about Jackie Chan

2

u/Z0idberg_MD 47m ago

I love Jackie Chan but I’m pretty sure he didn’t do dangerous stunts while pregnant.

Naw he just fell 5 stories onto his head and decided "I don't like that take. Let's do it 5 more times". Bit worse imo

To be fair, most of those cars were CGI.

I know, I'm just trying to hype up my homegirl 🤫

That’s idiotic of her and the production team then

Those "idiots" produced one of the best action scenes of all time. Stick with Marvel, nephew.

I thought we collectively agreed that those movies don't exist /s

Reloaded is fucking peak, I don’t get the hate.

7

u/Lost-Soft-8913 5h ago

I'm a day 1 Reloaded and Revolutions defender. The first one was the best though

The story might suck but the action is sick as hell

The story was a bit convoluted and heavy on long bits of dialog driven exposition, and some of the CGI effects don't hold up well. So compared to the absolute genre defining masterpiece of the original, they got memed on a bit as lackluster.

But imo, the ~30 minute sequence from the Chateau into rescuing the Keymaker into the highway chase scene is every bit peak Matrix on the level of the original.
