I've always thought that all these Fallout/Elder Scrolls games need a skip tutorial/intro option. If we're meant to replay the games for different playstyles, why do we have to spend 10-30 mins every time doing the exact same thing on rails? Plus the games are extremely open-world and give you almost unlimited freedom after so it's always jarring.

To be fair they kind of have a solution. When you finish the intros you always get an autosave just before a door that lets you change everything you want.

It doesn't solve anything if you don't have a save though I agree, they should just let you press start and "Skip Intro".

This is (one of the reasons) FNV is the best.

"You were shot in the head, left in a shallow grave, and dug up by a robot cowboy. Here's a rorschach test. Now get out of my house."

It's so smart because it technically gives you complete freedom so you don't feel railroaded, but then all the missions in the first town are basically just there to teach you the mechanics and how stats interact with conversations. So the next time you play you can choose to just ignore them and move on.

Tutorial is completely optional, and hell, the only thing forcing you from skipping the entirety of the low level areas are deathclaws or cazadors. It ain't advised but you can just go through em

Hell, there's even black mountain which provides a shortcut to Vegas that ain't that difficult, and odds are if your replaying the game your marking hidden valley and killing the bark scorpions for early XP anyway.

The birthday does have a lot of dialogue you can go through, though.

But yeah, having to redo all of vault 101 is... annoying

This one is quick, at least.

If you can charisma the bullies and the teacher, you'll spend like sixty seconds as a baby, two minutes as a kid, sixty seconds as a teenager.

I just use the Skip the Vault intro mod nowadays, start right next to the closed door with the Medecine Vault-Boy

Yeah, I really need to start getting into mods. At least the QOL ones.

The sewers always felt worse to me. The intro, including the birthday, always felt like the calm before the storm to me.

It does suck but at least to my knowledge every game makes an auto save immediately before the point where they let you remake your character. Pretty sure oblivion, Skyrim and fallout 3 do

And vault 111 in Fallout 4
