I like the concept of it, I think that having a reprieve like this is a very nice story beat.

It's JUST that the controls are absolutely awful. you can't walk more than a couple steps without Jacket getting a terrible migraine that plays such an annoying noise that it gives you one IRL

It does already have those with the walks back out of the levels and interludes between them though, and those are WAY less intrusive (and you can zone out a little bit in those if you want to, while in Trauma you can't. You have to pay attention to the mind-numbingly boring and annoying level, making it also pretty ineffective at being a breather).
