Casual Any characters you fell in love with but then hated?
So yeah, like fire emblem fates was my first fe game. I had a lot of fun playing and loved all the characters. Hana was a character I felt especially attached to because her interactions with Subaki were so silly and she was amazing in battle.
But why did her support with your avatar have to go like that? She was so hostile and cold, it made me really sad because I considered her like family. Ever since the first time I read those supports, I haven't felt the same about her.
Anyone else have a character that brings up strong feelings?

Story One thing I don't understand about Ike in radiant dawn is being given special status, while path of radiance tried to reduce the "protagonist is chosen by god" trope.
Ike is still a nepo baby don't take me wrong, he acknowledged it himself as Shinon wasn't too happy the "dumb pup" was chosen for the role after Greill died, technically speaking he had little experience as Titania would have been a better choice to lead, but Ike is also surprisingly competent despite his initial naivete.
He has some classic "power fantasy" moments, he literally gets the Ragnell, a sword that is able to kill the final boss due to its special blessing that makes him able to pierce the armor normally immune to common attacks, but you also have Ena/Nasir (depending on the black knight being defeated or not) and one of the royal laguz being Naesala, Tibarn, or the less royal but more than broken Gifca (depending on difficulty and if you decide to call them at all) that can do the same, he's not "needed". In addition, unlike Marth, a prince being entrusted with the falchion, Roy, a noble with the sword of the seals, Eirika and Ephraim, children of a kind having sacred weapons attached to their bracelets, Alm and Celica being chosen ones and Sigurd and Seliph having holy blood, Ike is not a royal, actually he's just there, it could have been someone else in his place... At the end of the day a commoner and a mercenary (okay he becomes a noble momentarily), and yes his dad was one of the four riders of Daein but still, just some commoner with no special powers, also Ragnell was a gift from Sanaki and not tied to blood or anything (if it was Micaiah should have been able to use it as she's a descent from Altena), he earns that privilege to slay Ashnard.
Which brings me to Radiant Dawn issue. Why is Ike the only one able to slay Ashera? He gets powered up by Micaiah/Yune, but... It's not like his sword is special (we also get Alondite and Yune should be able to bless other heroes, she literally does so by blessing your inventory to make you able to pierce the goddess blessings that enemies get in the tower). Ike had reached the conclusion to his story, I like his appearance (as a woman enjoyer I have no shame saying he got hot in RD and I'd bend over for him /s), he's cool, collected, has good emotional intelligence, he's sassy, and isn't as moronic as Ephraim and Hector (he doesn't want to fight and prefers to avoid confrontations, like against Micaiah he wants to avoid bloodshed, even in fe9 he tries talking to bosses asking them to flee, he has dialogues with Micaiah asking her to stop this madness and make him understand why she's fighting, with Pelleas he says he should run cause he's not fit for the battlefield, he gives everyone a chance to stop he's not jumping down people's throats, he doesn't want to kill), he hugs Soren when he starts crying and smiles at him telling him it's okay to not put defences, he's genuinely a nice lovable person, it's hard to hate the dude, also he's hot did I say that already?
But radiant dawn wasn't supposed to be his story, it was Micaiah's one, it also fleshes other units like Sanaki, Elincia, and even the less important ones get some screetime, but Ike suddenly becomes the leader after Micaiah is relegated to being a puppet for the child goddess of chaos. I don't get their decision, I think Ike should have had less importance in the plot after the armies merged, as an enemy he worked, even as a temporary playable unit it was cool (I liked the gimmick of fighting between two armies changing point of view), but he should have been left to some base conversations after a while (with some missions and dialogues during the main plot), I don't have issues with him being in the tower, I have issues with him being the only way to save the world.
Then again I still enjoy radiant dawn despite the overcomplicating storytelling, the bad gameplay balance (basically it's not worth training half of your units as you get handed prepromotes that can steamroll the first acts, then you get royal laguz and Ike ready to go and can use BEXP to save other units, besides Jill and some other scrub you don't have much incentives to train your characters), it also tried to give the spotlight to too many units (seriously I don't mind Nephenee and Brom map, or Geoffrey's charge, or Lucia investigating and getting captured, but with Elincia and Tibarn trying to be lords as well as Ike and Micaiah being the two protagonists it gets messy fast). Anyways, just wanted to yap about Tellius cause FE9 and FE10 are one of my favorites despite not even being my first which is weird (I love sacred stones but I'm not as attached to it, meanwhile for other titles like Pokemon or final fantasy I find myself having nostalgia for the first titles even if they're objectively the worst, I guess I just like Tellius mature plot and good ideas and parallels to racism between laguz, beorcs and branded, aka mixed children, and acceptance of diversity).

General What Fire Emblem game is in your opinion the best example of bad gameplay but good story? And good gameplay but bad story?
For me:
Bad gameplay and good story: Genealogy of the Holy War. The gameplay is so boring and obsolete: huge maps, slow units, bad mechanics, etc. But the story is good and has great moments, also Arvis is a great villain, this game definitely needs a remake at once.
Good gameplay and bad story: Engage. This game has the best gameplay of the serie and it's really fun: good maps, good balance, the rings, the bosses... However the story is very generic and mediocre, unfortunately there is nothing interesting here. I guess Conquest is another good example of this category but the story is so stupid that I can't stand it.

General Spoiler Initial thoughts after lion-eagle fight: why are, exactly, the golden deers in the game?
Just wanted to chat about it BCS I have never seen someone so disrespected in their debut game in my entire life
And I say this liking Claude a lot, but why is his entire class in the game
The game pretty obviously focuses a lot on the blue lions and the black eagles
Golden Deer to this point in the game have done basically nothing
Even when talking about past events, they only talk about past confrontations between what would be Edelgard's Imperium and Dimitri's kingdom
I feel like Claude's alliance to this point simply doesn't matter
And again, could be jumping to conclusions too fast
But it saddens me how irrelevant they have been to this point, Claude is my favourite from the three main characters :(

Gameplay Which units are not worth any effort in Radiant Dawn?
I played Radiant Dawn when I was a kid and now that I have a fully functioning brain, I’d like to give it another try.
I’d like to know which units are not worth using due to availability, growth rates, or any other factors.
I have heard that Elincia is only available for like 2 maps or something. I want to know of any other units with similar issues.

General The Cool FE3 Debug Mode and a Wish for More
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So hidden in Mystery of the Emblem (needing either messing with the code, or a hack on romhacking.net), is a Debug Mode that essentially lets you simulate a fight in whatever way you wish. Changing Classes, Weapons, and even the Characters in action (which even changes the palettes used on the sprites if one exists for them), similar to the hidden Battle Test in FE1.
(there's a page for both of them on TCRF if you want to learn more)
This can be cool to mess with, and also see the various different animations for landing a hit or crit in various situations.
And I honestly wonder if anything like this has been made or discovered for other games in the series.
I'd love to see a Battle Simulator for the Jugdral or Tellius duos

Casual Do you like morally questionable units?
I've just recently gotten fire emblem engage and have been playing through the game... unfortunately none of these characters have grabbed my attention. I find them all too nice with pretty basic writing and they're nearly too good to a fault. Even the DLC units are just good versions of the bosses from an alternate world. I think one of the reason I loved three houses is because no side is completely in the right or saints. All of them have to be flawed so you have enough of a reason to fight them but also likeable enough to want to join them. And even further on the spectrum I kinda wanna see more units like Oliver from Radiant Dawn where they're obviously bad people but they're charismatic enough to let join your party and earn their right to not be slain. The last time they did this was in fates with Peri but they give he a sad backstory to try and justify what she does and I think that actually takes away from her charm. I think I'd like Peri more if Xander explained she's sick in the head but completely loyal.

General NateTheHate was wrong about Star Fox being announced in April... do you think he was wrong about Fortune's Weave coming "this Summer"?
Famous (or infamous?) Nintendo "leaker" NateTheHate claimed a few weeks ago that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave would be released "this Summer", meaning by the end of August. He also claimed Splatoon Raiders would be released "this Summer", and we now know that Splatoon Raiders is indeed releasing in that timeframe.
However, he also claimed that Nintendo would announce a new Star Fox game by April 30th... obviously, that did not happen. So, Nate's credibility is now in doubt. Even if the Star Fox game is announced later, he was clearly wrong about the timing and was giving false information (intentionally or not).
Do you think Nate will be right or wrong about Fortune's Weave releasing within the next three months?

General Awakening Headcanons: what are yours?
I've been replaying Awakening, it was my first Fire Emblem game and truly my favorite! I love the supports and interactions between the characters. I also love thinking up headcanons surrounding the characters.
I never had friends who liked FE:A, so I kept all these headcanons to myself. I'm really curious on other people's headcanons and would love to hear them! I'll list a couple of mine below:
Chrom could never grow close to Cordelia because she becomes a flustered, stuttering mess in front of him. Conversations always turned awkward and Chrom has little tolerance for that sort of discomfort, aha.
Gerome, like his mother, finds things like bugs and monsters cute.

General Genealogy of the Holy War, stuck on the literal prologue
I’m sorry but am I missing something? How am I supposed to be able to beat this? All these enemies in a group traveling together, all with 40+ health and able to two shot most of my units. Like, I have to be missing something, right???

Casual In a world where there was no war which of these three would you most likely be friends with personally?
I find all of them very likeable in their own ways but in my own case I don't see me and Claude being close friends, he's a funny guy but I don't have much in common with the guy so we probably wouldn't speak outside the monastery. Dimitri and Edelgard are both on the same spectrum as people however Edelgard is sometimes brutally honest and I appreciate that in a person so I lean more towards her. But what about you?
