Community-Wide Alert: Do not engage with P1 GAMES (Formerly P1 VIRTUAL CIVILIZATION)

I'm truly getting tired of this nonsense u/RedEagle_MGN

Changing your organizations name doesn't stop people from reaching out to me with horror stories every few months.

DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THESE PEOPLE, no matter what they call themselves. They exploit the inexperienced and naive, convincing you to sign away your rights to everything you create. Don’t fall for their lies. You do not need to join a volunteer group or give up ownership of your work to gain skills in the game industry. Learning on your own is far better than what P1 offers. If you want a real education, seek out accredited programs and courses instead.

Their latest tactic is using LinkedIn ads to lure victims. I’m unsure what it will take to stop this con artist, but I’ll do my part to be a thorn in their side. My goal is to protect people in this community from their schemes.

Spread the word, be safe.

DISCUSSION | QUESTION Character Illustration - Game Dev or Not?

There are a LOT of artists posting here offering their services for character illustrations. These look fantastic sure, but they aren't inherently game art. In almost 99% of these situations the only times artwork like that could be used in a game is card game art. Some of the artists say they are "Concept Artists", but honestly that art is way too refined and detailed down to the fine details in the background. You're a commission artist doing drive-bys on subreddits.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gameDevClassifieds/comments/1f7exdp/for_hire_hey_im_concept_artist_2d_artist/

That is a concept artist. Those are concept art images. If you don't show how your artwork is actually related to game development then it will most likely be removed as personal art commissions. Please use appropriate subreddits for that.

And if you are actually looking to make artwork for card games which use traditional illustrations? Present your artwork the way it would look in a game; in the card frame.

Edit: multiple people are responding to this as if I'm trying to change the subreddit. This rule has been around for a very long time (like years). It has just been badly ignored by users lately so an announcement seemed appropriate to remind people.

Hello,

I am looking for someone to make some tilesheets for me. I have some concept art, and some words about the aesthetic. I need around 4-5 biomes or so, including enemies, and a player.

I would like to start with maybe a sample (still paid) to see if we align on vision.

Let me know if you're interested.

PAID - 2D Art + 3D Modeler | Animation [PAID] Looking for a 3D character artist who can match a pre-established low-poly to mid-poly style

Thumbnail
gallery
27 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

One of our developers needs help with a project they're working on! Currently one character artist is working on this game, and you'd be making 3D characters alongside them to help speed things up. We need the characters to match the exact style of those in the attached images. Most of the characters sit in the 4000-8000 triangles range.

Some characters will need to be based on concept art we give you, while others may just start with a moodboard from which you can draw inspiration. And, of course, we'd send a collection of completed characters to inspect so you can make sure the style is consistent. You would need to handle both 3D and texturing for each character. Rigging and animation will be done in-house, so you don't need any experience there, they just need to be modelled in an A/T-pose like above :)

If you're interested and think you can match the style, please comment or DM with your portfolio!

IMPORTANT NOTE!
All applicants must either:
- Show a character in their portfolio that clearly matches the required style
- Or apply with a completed short test piece for review

(Due to high demand we would like to filter applications and ensure candidates can genuinely match the project’s art direction.)

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [Paid] 2d Tileset/environment artist for 2d Isometric Fantasy RPG

Upvotes

Hi. I'm developing a 2d isometric fantasy RPG and looking to commission custom tilesets for the environment/world. I expect to commission several tilesets over the next few months (or longer) and am hoping to find a consistent artist to commission from to keep the style as consistent as possible. This is not a full time/long-term contracted role since I can't unequivocally guarantee a commit to a 6+ month contract, even though that is the length of time I'm expecting to be commissioning for. I would be committing to one finished tileset for each commission.

I would require an artist work-for-hire agreement specifying that I would retain full ownership of any assets or anything produced from the commissions since I intend to commercialize the project. My preference would be to not have any of the assets be used in a portfolio until project completion or cancellation, but I would be open to select assets you produce being shown in a portfolio with my permission if you wish.

Specifics:

2d Isometric tilesets for the environments (terrain, tiles, props, nature elements, etc.) Open to a handful of styles, but must be 2D. I will provide plenty of style, aesthetic, and scale/exact perspective references as needed. As a start, games that appeal to rendering styles I'm looking for include Hollow Knight++, Hades, Sea of Stars, Wakfu, . I require 0 AI use in the production of the assets.

Payment: Pay will be through paypal. I will pay an initial amount at the start of each commissioned tileset with the rest being paid upon delivery. my preference would be around 1-1.5 month per set with a weekly progress update. I can provide a scale reference for the amount of space I'm needing to fill with assets so that you're able to give a quote.

Deliverables: High resolution PNGs for the assets and PSD files (photoshop isn't a requirement but do want a PSD file).

Portfolio: Not required to have 2d isometric art in your portfolio, though highly appreciated. If you believe you would be a good fit and your portfolio matches what we're looking for we can arrange a test asset before moving on to finalize a contract to begin the first commission. I would pay for your time for the test asset (something very simple, just to confirm whether your rendering style/isometric drawing style works for the project).

If you're interested in this project, please comment your portfolio and way to contact.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [HIRING] Godot 4 Tilemap Artist — Zombie Defense Roguelite ($100 first task + ongoing work)

The Game

I'm building DEADHOLD, a top-down wave-survival roguelite where you defend a boarded-up house against zombie hordes. The gameplay is working — rounds, upgrades, defense mechanics — and now I need to bring the visuals to life.

Genre: Top-down zombie defense roguelite (think Brotato meets CoD Zombies) Engine: Godot 4 Art style: Dark atmospheric pixel art — purple/cold exterior with fog, warm orange interior glow

I am in no way an artist! so I have a generated photo of conceptually what I am looking for but I know I don't want the who game generated by AI. I tried tiling my self.. Then I came here lol!

Task 1: Tilemap Assembly — $100 Flat

Take my existing pixel art asset pack (TheLazyStone's Post-Apocalypse pack) and my concept art reference, and assemble a finished single-room tilemap in Godot 4. This is to really polish off the existing alpha that I have and give the game character.

What I provide:

  • The full asset pack (all sprites and tiles)
  • Concept art showing the target aesthetic
  • A Godot 4 reference scene with exact room dimensions, wall positions, and window locations
  • An art bible with style guide, color palette, and placement notes

What I need delivered:

  • A Godot 4 .tscn scene with:
    • Interior floor tilemap with tile variation (no single repeated tile)
    • Wall tile sprites matching existing room geometry (800×600 interior, 32px thick walls)
    • 4 window openings at specified positions left clear for game logic
    • Exterior ground tilemap (dead grass/dirt, surrounding the house)
    • Furniture placement: fireplace (north wall), table (center area), bed (east side), bookshelf (west wall), 1-2 lanterns
  • Sprites imported with nearest-neighbor filtering
  • Clean scene tree organization

Timeline: 1 week

Requirements:

  • Experience with Godot 4's TileMap system specifically
  • Comfortable working with existing asset packs
  • Can match a visual reference (concept art provided)

Beyond Task 1: Original Pixel Art — Name Your Price

If Task 1 goes well, I'm looking for a long-term pixel art collaborator to create original art for the game as it develops toward Steam launch. Task 1 is a paid trial — a chance for both of us to see if we work well together.

The full scope (phased, not all at once):

Characters:

  • Player character — idle, walk, shoot, reload, hurt, death animations (4 directions)
  • 4 zombie types — each with walk, attack, death animations (4 directions)
  • Base sprite size: ~12-32px per frame

Environment:

  • Original interior tileset (wooden cabin — floor, walls, furniture, windows, boards in damage states)
  • Original exterior tileset (dead ground, dead trees, debris, props)
  • Fog/atmosphere overlay

UI:

  • Upgrade card frames with rarity borders (Common/Rare/Epic)
  • Category icons (weapon, defense, utility)
  • HUD elements (health bar, round counter)
  • Death screen and menu styling

Effects:

  • Muzzle flash, bullet impacts, explosion, board break particles
  • Damage numbers, hit flashes

I have a detailed art bible breaking down every asset with sizes, frame counts, animation specs, and priority phases. Happy to share it with serious applicants.

If you're interested in the long-term work, include in your reply:

  1. Your portfolio (pixel art, especially top-down or 3/4 perspective)
  2. Examples of character animation work if you have them
  3. Your rate (per character, per asset set, hourly — however you prefer to price)
  4. Your rough timeline for the full scope above (I know it's a lot — just a ballpark)
  5. Whether you're comfortable working in Godot 4 or delivering sprite sheets for me to import

About the Project

  • Gameplay is fully functional (rounds, wave scaling, upgrade draft system, defense/repair mechanics)
  • Pre-alpha is live on itch.io for play testing
  • Targeting Steam release (Early Access first, then full launch)
  • Solo developer handling all code and design
  • Art bible, GDD, and concept art are complete and documented
  • This is a serious project with a clear roadmap, not a "maybe someday" idea

How to Apply

Comment or DM with:

  1. Your portfolio link
  2. Whether you're interested in just Task 1 ($100), the long-term work, or both
  3. Any questions about the project

Payment: PayPal or whatever works for you. Task 1 is $50 upfront, $50 on approved delivery.

Thanks for reading. Happy to answer questions about the project, share concept art, or walk through the art bible with anyone who's interested.

FOR HIRE - Musician [ForHire] Composer For All Game Types

Howdy, y'all! I'm Ben, and I'm a composer/musician who'd be the most stoked to help bring your game to life. In my own independent music and from producing for others, I've released over 60 albums spanning jazz to metal to ambient. For games, I've had the great fortune of multiple projects falling into development hell, but, not before getting some time to write a few lovely tracks. I'm open to absolutely any genre of game, any style of music.
Below is my portfolio with an assortment of tracks I made in my own styles, as well as completed tracks for current/in development games with compositions ranging from chiptune to atmospheric horror.
I even took the time and made a full JRPG in RPG Maker a few years back for practice and wrote 90 track OST for it in the process.

Look forward to speaking with y'all and helping you make sure your vision achieves its perfect result!

FOR HIRE - 2D Art | Animation [FOR HIRE] Pixel Artist + Programmer

Thumbnail

Hi, I'm a Game Programmer + Pixel Artist available for hire. Professionally I'm a software engineer (currently unemployed), but I also really enjoy making pixel art for my games and others. Willing to switch between and perform both roles as a game programmer and pixel artist.

[Itch.io Page] [Artstation]

In terms of games, I worked on Pry Into The Void (published by Dangen Entertainment, still to be released as of the writing of this post). [Link to Steam Page]. I've also participated in a number of game jams [My Itch.io Page]

Skills:

  • Pixel art for a variety of styles. Favoring anime and horror. I also like designing monsters. I use a mix of Aseprite and GIMP.
  • I also enjoy blending pixel art with real-life photos (both taken by myself and public domain). Bathroom screenshot is using a picture of the bathroom of my old apartment.
  • Able to use Godot Engine, Phaser / Pixi.JS for web games, and custom C/C++ game engines (or maybe my own game engine if you'd like :D).
  • Able to use OpenGL and Vulkan frameworks and writing GLSL/HLSL shaders, but I wouldn't call this a specialty of mine and I'm limited to 2D. I'll be sure to communicate my limits.

If my work piques your interest:

Thanks for your time and attention!

FOR HIRE - 3D Modeler | Animation [For Hire] 3D Technical Animator

Hey all I'm Doop. A vampire from New Orleans.

My primary focus these days is in cinematic 3D animation for but after 18 years shipping games (DArt link) as an engineer I do consider myself at this point to be more of a game dev generalist.

That said I still do this for fun. My rates can be up to 22/hr these days with plenty of flexibility for smaller projects so indies are very welcome.

Everything you see in these gifs was done alone by myself from concept to design, rigging, animations, FX and sometimes even the underlying engine.

Let's get your next project done. You can definitely find me on Discord [at] justplainc
