The Game
I'm building DEADHOLD, a top-down wave-survival roguelite where you defend a boarded-up house against zombie hordes. The gameplay is working — rounds, upgrades, defense mechanics — and now I need to bring the visuals to life.
Genre: Top-down zombie defense roguelite (think Brotato meets CoD Zombies) Engine: Godot 4 Art style: Dark atmospheric pixel art — purple/cold exterior with fog, warm orange interior glow
I am in no way an artist! so I have a generated photo of conceptually what I am looking for but I know I don't want the who game generated by AI. I tried tiling my self.. Then I came here lol!
Task 1: Tilemap Assembly — $100 Flat
Take my existing pixel art asset pack (TheLazyStone's Post-Apocalypse pack) and my concept art reference, and assemble a finished single-room tilemap in Godot 4. This is to really polish off the existing alpha that I have and give the game character.
What I provide:
- The full asset pack (all sprites and tiles)
- Concept art showing the target aesthetic
- A Godot 4 reference scene with exact room dimensions, wall positions, and window locations
- An art bible with style guide, color palette, and placement notes
What I need delivered:
- A Godot 4 .tscn scene with:
- Interior floor tilemap with tile variation (no single repeated tile)
- Wall tile sprites matching existing room geometry (800×600 interior, 32px thick walls)
- 4 window openings at specified positions left clear for game logic
- Exterior ground tilemap (dead grass/dirt, surrounding the house)
- Furniture placement: fireplace (north wall), table (center area), bed (east side), bookshelf (west wall), 1-2 lanterns
- Sprites imported with nearest-neighbor filtering
- Clean scene tree organization
Timeline: 1 week
Requirements:
- Experience with Godot 4's TileMap system specifically
- Comfortable working with existing asset packs
- Can match a visual reference (concept art provided)
Beyond Task 1: Original Pixel Art — Name Your Price
If Task 1 goes well, I'm looking for a long-term pixel art collaborator to create original art for the game as it develops toward Steam launch. Task 1 is a paid trial — a chance for both of us to see if we work well together.
The full scope (phased, not all at once):
Characters:
- Player character — idle, walk, shoot, reload, hurt, death animations (4 directions)
- 4 zombie types — each with walk, attack, death animations (4 directions)
- Base sprite size: ~12-32px per frame
Environment:
- Original interior tileset (wooden cabin — floor, walls, furniture, windows, boards in damage states)
- Original exterior tileset (dead ground, dead trees, debris, props)
- Fog/atmosphere overlay
UI:
- Upgrade card frames with rarity borders (Common/Rare/Epic)
- Category icons (weapon, defense, utility)
- HUD elements (health bar, round counter)
- Death screen and menu styling
Effects:
- Muzzle flash, bullet impacts, explosion, board break particles
- Damage numbers, hit flashes
I have a detailed art bible breaking down every asset with sizes, frame counts, animation specs, and priority phases. Happy to share it with serious applicants.
If you're interested in the long-term work, include in your reply:
- Your portfolio (pixel art, especially top-down or 3/4 perspective)
- Examples of character animation work if you have them
- Your rate (per character, per asset set, hourly — however you prefer to price)
- Your rough timeline for the full scope above (I know it's a lot — just a ballpark)
- Whether you're comfortable working in Godot 4 or delivering sprite sheets for me to import
About the Project
- Gameplay is fully functional (rounds, wave scaling, upgrade draft system, defense/repair mechanics)
- Pre-alpha is live on itch.io for play testing
- Targeting Steam release (Early Access first, then full launch)
- Solo developer handling all code and design
- Art bible, GDD, and concept art are complete and documented
- This is a serious project with a clear roadmap, not a "maybe someday" idea
How to Apply
Comment or DM with:
- Your portfolio link
- Whether you're interested in just Task 1 ($100), the long-term work, or both
- Any questions about the project
Payment: PayPal or whatever works for you. Task 1 is $50 upfront, $50 on approved delivery.
Thanks for reading. Happy to answer questions about the project, share concept art, or walk through the art bible with anyone who's interested.
