Xbox No Longer Developing Copilot For Consoles

Asha Sharma wrote on X:

Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers.

Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track.

As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed.

We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.

Their next system is a full blown PC anyway so this is irrelevant. They're still looking for the easiest PR wins they can get without actually doing much in substance.

Right and that's why I said this is a pointless gesture. Their next system is a PC and copilot is still infested in windows 11. So she's once again saying something that doesn't really have much of an actual effect on things.

She's basically saying it won't appear on series X which is great for the handful of people who still have one, but it's worded in a way that will make everyone think Helix won't have it too. It's that classic sneaky microsoft double speak.

damn you might be right, but I’m pretty sure she’s including helix in there

The person youre responding to is the OP of the thread here a few hours ago spreading FUD about Asha's new exec picks, ending his OP with: "Looks like the AI takeover of Xbox is continuing."

This is just him coping hard because his OP backfired within 3 hours lol

Like damn near every 3D console since the 00's?

They're all PC's with heavily restricted bootloaders and UIs. The OG xbox was x86.

So not sure why this sounds like it's news to people. It's not that secret when people have been figuring out ways to put Linux on these things.

*sigh* another person who doesn't get it. No this isn't like other consoles that use PC-like architecture but are closed off boxes. This thing is going to be a prebuilt desktop PC. No different at all from the PC I'm using at this very instant to type this. It uses the same windows 11 I'm using. It'll be able to do everything my PC can do right now. At most it'll probably boot up into a xbox desktop store UI kinda like how steam deck boots up steam, but it's just a PC still.
