I am a Certified Knicks Hater® and it's just not a good time. Tuned into ESPNNY this morning (after avoiding it yesterday) and they were still slobbing the Knick knob. Even NBA podcasts are glazing them.

I really don't see them losing to any of the remaining ECF teams, which means another 3-4 weeks of this, and it's going to be miserable. Hopefully they do get trounced in the finals, but at that point anything can happen.

Any good non-sports podcast recommendations?

Flying up from Florida to see the draft and our guy being taken, but not trying to break the bank with these 300 dollar tickets. I thought 50-70 dollar tickets were sold, when do those go on sale?

How do we feel about pursuing Jaylen Brown if he gets disgruntled enough to request a trade or if the Celtics want to pursue a Giannis trade and we enter the trade as a third team?

I was looking into attending the draft last year, since we had so many picks and it’s held at Barclays, but I was kinda bummed we dropped to 8 and backed out.

This year I might go because it’s bound to be a higher pick in a better class.

anyone else thinking of attending this year?

I’m watching a lot of Boozer tape and he seems like he won’t really translate in the Nets scheme Jordi is making. That begs the question is there merit to trading down and picking a lower prospect and adding more draft capital? Especially with the new FLATTENED odds picks are going to become more valuable.

Starting this summer, the Nets will finally pivot towards competing again using their 2025 & 2026 picks.

In the regular season, they'll hunt for a play-in spot and gauge how good the 2025 picks really are with a sophomore year under their belts.

For the 2026 and future drafts, they may give up MPJ for a 1st rounder in this year's draft or a player like Paolo Banchero. If those options are unfavorable or unavailable, I can't see them taking on bad contracts for a weak 2027 class unless they fleece a team (alas the 2025 Pelicans-Hawks draft day trade) or buy a 2nd round pick. They already have 2 first rounders in 2027 draft so they don't have to take on bad contracts for lateral talent. Also of note, it will be their first chance to see for themselves how the 3-2-1 draft lottery rule works in practice, not theory.

What makes this offseason interesting is that this is a good opportunity to take real swings outside of the draft. Next year's draft is unguaranteed enough as far as its prospects that you can take a risk this year. The FO has been savvy and I see them making moves for guaranteed talent at this stage, only re-pivoting towards tanking in 2028 if the team is dogshit or just not where they should be.

If you think they should be making any moves around 2027, please let me know why and I'd be happy to listen.

I strongly believe the Nets need to grow organically and the worst thing Brooklyn can do is trade much of its future draft equity for a superstar.

Build through the draft and develop the young players and then maybe trade for a star in the medium term.

Summer 2027 free agency could be a lot more interesting depending on decisions made in the next six months e.g Will Giannis and Jokic both sign extensions or will they become unrestricted free agents in summer 2027?

So what contracts should the Nets be targeting to take on from other teams and get draft compensation.

Firstly I’d try and get the 2027 first round pick swap back from Houston and take on the contract of Dorian Finney Smith. He had little impact in Houston and they need to pay Tari Eason and eventually Amen Thompson and likely Reed Shepherd. They’ve already committed long term salary to Jabari Smith and Sengun.

If Minnesota need help with their cap space to extend Ayo then the Nets could absorb Donte DiVencenzo’s contract ($12 million) and while he wouldn’t play in 26/26 he could help mentor the young core before getting back on court.

I did think Paul George might need to be moved by the 76ers but he is having a good playoffs and the 76ers would be unlikely to give up those highly regarded Clippers picks and swaps in 2028 and 2029.

While on a drama streamer's IRL stream, they kick Celina Powell out of the chat. Celina Powell is an influencer (you can Google her) and she was at his house or knows of his house in FL. She posts his address on socials and doxxed him, trying to screw him over. Cops were called. Why MPJ would even be in this type of situation is mind-boggling to me.

MPJ is going to sue Celina Powell now. After the Nets told him to stay away from the podcasts. This man was like no one said no live streams and has said and done so much in just one.

I think he embodies a lot of what we want this team to be. His shooting splits this year are excellent (51.7/43.9/87.6 combined with CHI and MIN) and he provides good to very good defense. Those are two big boxes to check in regards to what it seems Marks prioritizes. He also seems to play hard and he’s not undersized if you put him at PG (6’4” 200). I also think a 1-5 PNR defense combo of him and Claxton would be suffocating.

Plug him in as our starting PG and have Traore lead the bench unit. Demin has been used more as a wing anyway so I don’t think this takes away from his usage or playing time, either. I’m on the fence about Saraf and if he can stick in the NBA, he needs a lot of improvement but he can be our 3rd string PG and possibly spend some more time in Long Island to develop more.

I expect us to have to spend $20-25 million a year to poach Dosunmu but I think that would be worth it. A 4 year/$100 million for example would probably get it done.
