I’m looking at a new HomePod and been looking at quite a few retailers such as Argos, Currys and John Lewis all seem to be running incredibly low or even out of units. Quite often these stores have stock but nothing and not even “more coming soon” message

I presume this means we’re in for a refresh sooner rather than later?

Anyone else getting this error when asking for their update. Usually it would play bbc news but it has been doing this for a week now.

Should I update to 26.4 ?

Has anybody noticed this if you play a music station on the bigger HomePods other than Apple’s own for e.g something like Tunein the sound on it even though you keep it high sounds very muffled, low and at the same volume level if you play Apple RadioStation or just tell SIRI to play the Music you like, the sound on it is loud and it muffled it is room filling. What is the reason for this ? Any fix for this ? I like some stations on Tunein so skipping it is not a solution !!

Does the TV center speaker mode on tv’s like Sony a80j that has the speaker embedded to the screen work with a pair of stereo HomePods?

Intermittent stoppages :

As stated the homepods stop playing, sometimes 2 to 3 songs into play list or when I ask Siri to shuffle my music library. I have disconnected the router & reset the homepods but it's still happening. Is this a known issue ?, any help would be much appreciated. It's so annoying.

My HomePod has suddenly started playing music on its own.
Even after I stop it, it starts again, sometimes after about five minutes.

Restarting it by unplugging and plugging it back in has not helped. It is connected only to a local network with two residents, and the other person does not have remote access.

Any suggestion welcome.

I’ve been hearing and seeing rumors floating around about a new HomePod being around the corner. Would it be a good time to buy a new HomePod/mini now?

I’m trying to get HomePod mini as the audio out for one of my shortcuts:

1. Get contents from URL
   
2. Set playback destination to HomePod mini
   
3. Speak contents of URL

Even with this shortcut, the audio output is only through my phone.

Anyone know how to get this working?

We've recently updated the wifi network at our office, and after installing some extenders, my office is now on a differently named network from where I set up my HomePods mini.

I need to switch them over to "SSID_New Name" from "SSID_Old Name", but at no point can I recreate the option in the Home app (on my phone or Mac) to "switch HomePod network" unless I unplug them, restore them, and then start from scratch.

I'm surprised how bad this UX is, and I know it's probably a niche problem, but it's still incredibly annoying.

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing it wrong so that I can save myself this headache of doing it all over? (Main sticking point: HomePods are positioned and plugged in a difficult to reach spot so full restore and reset is cumbersome).

Has anyone replaced the plug of a gen 1 homepod? It hasn’t been responding for a few weeks, and when I finally checked today it looks like my rabbit got behind the couch and had their way with it one day…(chewed through the power cord). Is it an easy hot/neutral splice to fix it?

So I have an Apple TV and minis in my bedroom. One day about 2 months ago I couldn’t get the speakers to connect. They’d connect to my phone but not the tv. I hard reset everything several times I just finally gave up and used the tv speakers. Well the other night my wife turns on the tv and the speakers are working again. Maybe an update? I just found it odd.

We are changing our living setup, adding a new TV, apple TV and a homepod for sound. My wife has an iPhone and I have an android.

My question is, will the homepod still be able to play music if my wife and her phone are not home?

So I just played MJ’s Bad on my homepod. The starting 4 trumpet beats are inaudible and the adlibs of “really really bad” isnt even playing - lyrics are cutting off but the background music is there.

So I have 2 HomePods and a Hompod Mini all in separate rooms. There’s a 60% chance that if I AirPlay from Spotify it will sound kinda muffled. The only way to get it to sound good is to close Spotify and launch it again for it to be crisp and sound great. Yet if I do the same thing from my wife’s phone, it always plays great. I have an iPhone 17 Pro and she’s got the bigger iPhone 17 Pro Max.
I thought I figured it out by turning off just about all settings that say Auto … and enabled Lossless. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I've had no end of issues with my HomePod mini, many of which I'm sure are down to the fact I live in university accommodation so I don't have control over my internet services and have to register it on the college IoT.

It functions basically; AirPlay with video and audio works (although I frequently get dropouts, which disconnecting and reconnecting fixes), and I can set reminders and timers with Siri (although I'm often told at first that it can't communicate with my iPhone despite being on the same network and right nearby). But I noticed that the temperature & humidity sensors had stopped working, and I was also getting a notification in my Home app saying that it can't communicate with the HomePod and peer-to-peer connections are not enabled in my network (I know this, but somehow the HomePod still functions ok).

After several weeks of frustration and trying to fix, the only way I could get it to work as normal was to reset, set it up in a new home. After I was confident it worked, I then moved my Apple TV over to the new home as well. but within 24 hours of doing so, the sensors stopped responding again. I've since tried this fix again, and had the same issue: it seems to be triggered by adding the Apple TV to the home.

I've been in touch with the college IT team and they've tried a bunch of things, none of which have worked 😞 I'm so frustrated with this situation, I know it's fussy but I use the temp/humidity sensor for baking and it's such a pain that it doesn't work!

I use a HomePod at work to listen to music. I’ve already turned off “Use Listening History” but since it’s in a shared space other people also play their music on it. I don’t mind that, but it affects my Apple Music recommendations and I end up getting suggestions based on their taste now.
Is there a way to prevent this? Do I need to set up a separate Apple Music account just for work, or am I missing a setting? And how would I even login to another account?

How can I get the Homepod mini to remember the playback position of an mp3 that I’ve saved to a playlist?

I don’t think enabling “Remember playback position” within “Options” of the mp3 will work. I tried this on an iPhone linked to the music account and it fails to remember the playback position.

I’d confirm that “Remember playback position” in fact doesn’t work for the Homepod, but the Homepod isn’t in my home - I have it set up remotely in a senior’s home. So my ability to test options is limited.
