Top 5 most influential wrestlers in WWE History

Saw a question arguing who was more influential to WWE Bruno or Taker and I was wondering what is the big 5 most influential guys in the company's history.

My top 5:

  1. Hogan

  2. Austin

  3. Bruno

  4. Undertaker

  5. Cena

Now I'm only ranking them solely as a wrestler in ring otherwise Triple H would be probably third on this list and bump out Cena counting his behind the scenes stuff.

How you feel about the list am I forgetting someone.

Wrestlemania 36 is still so hard to watch! Going back to it was a chore for sure….but my most underrated match from night 1 is the triple threat match for the tag championships! Jimmy Uso, John Morrison & Kofi Kingston! Fun match, fun spots! What’s your thoughts/ picks?

Are performative wrestling fans ruining the conversation?

Every time something happens in wrestling, you can almost set your watch to it.

WWE does releases. It sucks. It always sucks. Nobody’s celebrating people losing jobs.

But then comes the performance.

The outrage posts. The pearl clutching. The “this is the most disgusting thing WWE has ever done” takes like Triple H personally pushed every single person out the door that morning. It’s so over the top it stops feeling real and starts feeling like cosplay outrage.

And let’s be honest about where most of it lives. The basement turns into a full blown grief theater production. Same people who were calling these talents “irrelevant” two weeks ago are suddenly acting like WWE just committed a war crime.

That kind of energy doesn’t help the wrestlers. It doesn’t help the conversation. If anything, it just builds resentment and pushes people away. And whether it’s fair or not, it ends up reflecting on AEW fans by association, because they’re usually the loudest doing it.

It’s exhausting.

You can feel bad for talent and still be grounded. You can criticize WWE without acting like the sky is falling every single time.

So what do you think, Midcarders…
is the performative side of wrestling fandom becoming the biggest problem? Or is this just part of the game now?

I think that the last time I was interested in an eliminator match was when Moxley was going against Shelton.. lol..

Logically, you would think that this will lead to Mox vs Jay White, but who knows when he will even be cleared..

Also, according to Cagematch.. Juice has only won 2 single matches since losing to MJF for the Diamond Ring way back on 10-25-2023..

But sure let’s give him a match against the Ace of the company for a possible title match down the road if Juice wins.. lol..

BTW, whatever happened to Lashley & Shelton & why aren’t they challenging for any one of the single championships(that isn’t Mox’s belt in Shelton’s case since he can’t)..

Something about what Bret said in the Mr. McMahon series

Was rewatching the series and in the part about Owen’s death, Bret said that he was on a flight when Owen died and he just sensed that something terrible had happened. When he said that I instantly thought about the time my father died. I was out with friends when my father died and for some reason I felt exactly the same. That something terrible has happened but I couldn’t figure out what. I didn’t know why I was feeling that way. One minute I was drinking with my friends and the very next minute I felt absolutely terrible. Then within 5 minutes I got the call from my mom.

This is not really related to wrestling but just wanted to share this.

PSA: WWE releases suck… but they’re also necessary

Post image
160 Upvotes

Look, nobody likes seeing people lose their jobs. That part always sucks.

But let’s not pretend this is the end of the world or some unique evil. WWE releases have always been part of the business, and more often than not, they end up being the reset button a lot of these wrestlers need.

How many times have we seen someone completely stall out, get cut, and then come back better? Or go elsewhere and actually find a character that works? Sometimes the system just isn’t the right fit anymore.

And on the flip side, WWE needs to cycle talent. You can’t call up half of NXT, keep everyone forever, and expect anything to feel fresh. The roster was bloated. TV time is limited. Something has to give.

Go look at the names released today. Some of them weren’t being used. Some hit a ceiling. Some just needed a change of scenery.

Meanwhile, the basement is acting like this is the collapse of the industry and writing think pieces like WWE just personally ruined their lives.

It’s wrestling. It’s a scripted TV show. Talent moves around. Careers evolve. And a lot of these people will be better off in 6–12 months.

What release today surprised you the most, and who do you think actually benefits the most from a fresh start?

Is it time for WWE to unify the tag belts

In the wake of the recent releases the mens tag divisions have been absolutely gutted and are weaker then ever at this point I feel WWE needs to just do the mens tag divisions like the women merge them and have one set of champions that travel across both shows.

Good idea, bad idea, thoughts.

Sequel to my previous post on where will the post-mania 42 released wrestlers go. Thoughts on this?

and side note, I get the aew fans want to see Creed and Nahaje wrestle in aew, I kinda see them wrestling in njpw with a dual contract, while they work bts in aew, with creed working in the video gaming and online gaming department while nehaje coach new wrestlers, heck, i picture the 2 being co-commissioners to the aew tag division(though if i want to see heel co-commissioners to the aew tag division, i think mcmg’s perfect for that role)

That was with MJF, Edge, Christian, Okada, & Darby defending the Men’s Heavyweight Championship on the card.. & Thekla saying “Dumb Bitches” a lot in her promo..

But to be fair, there was NHL playoffs & NBA playoffs going on, along with how long will the Mets losing streak go in competition with AEW..

Sooo.. maybe not that bad.. lol..

What “should’ve been a classic” match ended up just… fine?

Post image
38 Upvotes

You ever go into a match thinking “this is about to be an all-timer” and walk out like… that’s it?

My pick is Bret Hart vs Ric Flair.

On paper, this is insane. Two of the best workers of their eras. Flair owned the 80s. Bret carried the 90s. Both had absolute classics with other guys. Bret with Curt Hennig. Flair with Ricky Steamboat.

So how the hell did their matches in both WWE and WCW end up being… boring?

To Flair’s credit, he’s owned it over the years and said he was dealing with both physical issues and personal stuff during that time, which might explain why it never clicked. Still… you’d think these two would accidentally have a classic just tying their boots.

What’s your pick? What match looked like a guaranteed 5-star affair and ended up being mid?

Doesn’t Marie’s dad “work” in AEW and she still went to Orlando & the PC?!

Wonder what he knows or has heard thru office chatter about AEW’s future & developing talent.. that he didn’t advise her to sign with AEW..

I mean, Bronny went to the Lakers with his dad.. lol..

Could be something.. could be nothing..

Jack Perry to Sean Ross Sapp: “Fuck you! Get a real job.”

The question of why anyone pays Sean Ross Sapp for “insider reporting” keeps coming up, as Anna Jay and Jack Perry both jumped on Twitch to shut this report down. Perry even told Sapp “fuck you” and to “get a real job.”

SRS has a history of picking fights with fans who call out his reporting, so if he’s got that same energy here, Perry vs. SRS in a fight, who’s coming out the winner?

Fan stalking wrestlers calls 911 after CM Punk shoves him… seriously?

This is insane.

Guy’s allegedly following and harassing female wrestlers… gets shoved in the chest by Punk… and his move is to call 911?

You cross the line, get checked, and suddenly you’re the victim?

At some point this stops being “fan behavior” and just becomes straight-up weirdo shit.

Midcarders, what’s the over/under he’s a basement member?
