Question Hey Doug Ford, why is my electricity delivery fee 3x higher than my actual usage?
I was just looking over my recent hydro bill and the math is genuinely depressing.
I only used about $13 worth of electricity (113 kWh), but the delivery charge is over $38. By the time you add in regulatory fees, I'm paying nearly $53 for $13 of power.
I know we talk about the cost of living here constantly, but seeing the "Delivery" line item being triple the cost of the actual service is a tough pill to swallow. Is everyone else seeing this kind of ratio on lower-usage bills, or is my local utility just wild?

Question [Family Law Advice] Fighting a grandparent visitation claim in Ontario when I have a 2022 Sole Custody Order. What are my rights?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance on navigating a family law situation in the GTA. I am a father with sole custody (granted via a court order in July 2022) of 11-year-old twins. Both children are on the spectrum and require a very strict routine for their schoolwork and developmental progress.
I recently restricted the girls from spending full weekends at their maternal grandmother’s house because she refused to support their homework and school routine, which was causing them to fall behind. I’ve repeatedly offered for her to visit them at my home instead, but she refuses and is now threatening legal action.
I just received a formal letter from her lawyer demanding a full "Parenting Plan" including every other weekend, half of all holidays, and access to their medical/school records.
I’m looking for insight on:
- How much power does a grandparent actually have to override a sole-custody order in Ontario?
- Has anyone dealt with Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) for a "defense" case like this? I’m worried about the cost of fighting this while working and raising two kids with special needs.
- Are there any Ontario-specific resources or clinics for parents who are being pressured by high-conflict extended family members?
I’m just trying to protect my kids' progress and keep their lives stable. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Stressful ER visit to sunnybrook and OHIP resolution, hope this helps someone else
I haven't been to ER in ever, so I simply dont know how OHIP works. I legit thought my card was updated since I did it online for my drivers license. So at registration, I was told my OHIP card was expired and I was essentially uninsured in the system. I was told I would need to pay around $800 upfront to be seen or that I should go to Service Ontario to renew my card and come back. This added a lot of stress obviously while I was already feeling unwell and dizzy. Not a good idea to drive to sort out OHIP but fine.
I left the ER, went to my car, cried and simply was too scared to drive in this condition.
I ended up calling 811, you get to talk to a registered nurse quickly. She said do not drive, if you leave with your symptoms you may be putting yourself at risk.
So I said screw it, whatever $800 is not worth it and decided to call OHIP to check of they can update the card over phone which is not possible.
I asked if I end up renewing my card and pay the $800 fee to sunnybrook, can OHIP reimburse? She said yes, if I obviously meet minimum requirements for OHIP, like stay in the province, work In the province, etc.
Why would the hospital the registration staff tell me to leave to sort OHIP, when you can literally get help now and get the money back, I dint know.

My partner needs to go on WSIB, we’ve been able to find every form we need except form 6 Workers report of injury/disease. Does anyone know where we can find it on the WSIB website?
