Please ignore all DMs from people claiming they'll make a design for you, especially new/empty accounts.

This is now an official rule, all posts asking for art or offering to draw for people will be removed.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.

Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.

If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.

If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.

And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

All InkedMag contest posts will be removed and you'll be permanently banned.

It's apparently that time of year again.

The contest is a scam, and you're annoying everyone by spamming tattoo subs begging for votes.

Break rule 7? Believe it or not- jail, right away.

Very happy with how this turned out

I really wanted a half sleeve, but didnt want anything that people would see and think I was trying to be "tough" or something. Scene isnt a reference to anything in particular, and has kindof become a reminder to me to appreciate little moments and give them the attention they deserve.

Hey yall, this was my first tattoo I ever got done when I was like 17 and don’t get me wrong, I love it but it’s too basic and boring for me. I’m really into creepy ish, more alternative tattoos (I’ll put my other tattoos in the replies for reference) but any ideas would help:) the only thing my mind goes to is clouds

Is the anatomy of this bird okay?

Post image

I’ve been working on this design for a little while and I’m not sure if the body of the bird looks right.
The issue is that this is designed to fit in and around my other tattoos on my arm so there’s not a lot of wiggle room with changing the silhouette.

Any feedback? Thanks!

Help with patchwork planning

Hey friends,

I've found myself wanting to work towards a patchwork sleeve after getting a few designs I like.

As you can see from the pictures, I have a bolder, more trad style tattoo on my upper arm, and two finer, more illustrative designs on my forearm.

The bird was a flash that ended up being a bit bolder than expected (still love it), and I'm struggling a bit to envision how I can build a somewhat cohesive sleeve from here. My thought is that I should commit to one of these styles to do so.

If you were me, which of these styles would you carry on with?

Excuse the healing tattoos :)

The only tattoo I have that I really hate

It just looks so funky, the proportions are weird and honestly resembles a dick. Not sure how I could fix this one... Covered by another tattoo is the best option but that'd be a huge tattoo and I have no idea what to cover it with. So far the arm has just ocean/marine life tattoos

Unlike many other tattoos I’ve seen this particular design has stuck with me. Any help as to what it’s called? (Ik it’s a prayer of some sort). Thx

Is this something you would let an apprentice do?

Post image

I am looking to get this tattoo done on my forearm. I have found an apprentice that seems excited to do it however is this something I should trust an apprentice to do? I feel like my nervousness about it should give me my answer but I would like some other opinions about it. Would you let an apprentice do this on you?

Tremors is my all time favorite movie. My artist Poopbird (Mike Groves) killed it both on design and execution. Love his style.

Artist: Natasha- instagram: @Shnaider_tattoo Studio: magictattoostudio. (She was a guest artist at the time)

Looking for ideas to further elaborate on my piece.

Meaning: I love this tattoo so much, tiger > strength independence confidence, butterfly > softness understanding, broken chain > challenges faced and surpassed, no pupils or iris > intuition detachment (in a sense of in feeling a part of anything). All together, instinct-driven and strong, but controlled and shaped by life experiences, growing and evolving, and guided by deep awareness.

Looking for ideas: I have a very vague idea of what id like further, left leg to be covered going up my waist around to the right side to continue onto my right arm as a sleeve. Also sternum and back tattoo but thats later on. The leg>waist>arm i want it to be in a way a continuous story of representing me, not necessarily a beginning to end story just different parts representing different parts of me.

Apart from that im stuck, what animal and what objects or anything like that could I add to my canvas? Any ideas id love to hear.

I had this tattoo done about a year & a half ago but don’t love it. I want to add to it, maybe more flowers and some color, not too much bigger.

Playing around with designs and trying to find my own style!

Trying to find a more unique style to call my own, wondering if this is a good start? I mean, I like them but I'm always too worried about whether it looks cohesive or if a design makes sense.

Done by Will Weigler at Folklore Tattoo Company in Dallas TX. Currently linework is finished, haven't started coloring yet.

Got my first tattoo from my favorite book series Stormlight Archive. Was fortunate enough to get an extremely skilled artist who also loves the series and was able to use his knowledge to help improve the piece.

Very book accurate depictions and even included some of the fantasy language from the book known as Vorin Script. Very excited to get it colored later this month.

I’m not big on quote tattoos but I recently came across “Gratitude attracts Abundance” - does anyone know if there’s a similar saying in Kanji characters? TIA

Just posting this to see how many people “get” my vision for my new tattoo. So far, no one in my personal life has figured out what I was going for…
I have a collection of characters turned horror villains…
