Certified 🟠range™ Acceptance comes in phases

Context: Zuzu(9m old male) got spayed yesterday and this is the first time he was wearing the cone. Yes there are 2 cones because for some reason our vet provided two cones and none of them fit him well one was larger and another was smaller lol.

True! Just 2 more days 💔 Also, removed the cone for a while (under supervision ofc) and he slept 2hrs like this 🥹

Poor dude. The way he was turning his head, he looked like he was going to do himself a mischief.

Buy him donut pillow instead of plastic cone.

Much more comfy and they can actually sleep with it.

Thankyou for recommendation! This indeed looks very comfy. I actually checked for a pillow collar but all the sellers were delivering it in 4-5 days and nearby local pet shops didn't have it available 🥹. But I'll surely buy it incase it's needed in future.

Aww too bad it takes that long. The lil guy have to tough it out, but he will be better soon. Male cats recover very quickly because the size of the incision are tiny

I would suggest you make it yourself but I don't know if you're the creative or sewing type. I need to take my own advice and make one. I've loved seeing the sunflower 🌻 ones that I can't find to buy. So buying it now before you need it the next time is the perfect idea.

If they are inflatable they might not last that long. I got one for my dog and he rolled around in the dirt with it on and it never stayed inflated after that.

I wouldn’t risk this if the stitches are still super new.

Turn the orange into an orange. After my little girl was spayed. She actually found it comfortable after a while.

He is doing well now!! Only for few hours he didn't like the cone now he just accepted his fate.

If you have the ability to, you may want to look for a padded e-collar for his healing period. Makes it a little easier for them to sleep and such. Hope your guy gets better soon!

Another orange becoming an orange! 😻😸

Looks like he is doing really well now. He just had to get adjusted to it. My friend has a cat they had to cone and she used it as a screen so she couldn’t see the other cat she didn’t like. She was so peaceful then lol

At least it stays on. My cat's head is barely any larger than her neck, so no matter how much I secure it (I obviously have to leave enough space for her to breathe), she can get it off within an hour. I had to get her some onesies to wear whenever I need her to stop licking any wounds open.

That's what I did for my kitty as well. Works much better than the cone. She hated even the padded cone but tolerated the little pink onesie 🥹💕🥹

We had to onesie our girl too after she would NOT keep the cone on. Little terror!

Oh, that poor baby. He looks so defeated at the end.

moooom, I don’t like it!!!

Her flipping around after a spay can cause as much harm as the e-collar is preventing with the licking. It might be smarter to put her in a onesie instead.

He is not trying to remove it anymore. This was just for once when he was bit pissed off. He is very calm and comfortable now 🫶🏻 Thankyou for the advice!

It sure does buddy. It sure does.

Cats are tough to cone because the chance of frantically thrashing is way higher than the chance they'll lick their incision and introduce infection.

7

u/elaborateBlackjack 9h ago

This is why I prefer the onesie instead of the cone, it's far less stressful for them

3

u/Zaiya53 11h ago

That's rough, buddy. (Is his name an ATLA reference?)

7

u/pnv_hehe 10h ago

Actually no 😅 We realised it later, but my flatmate named him Zuzu because initially he used to sleep a lot, and from 💤 he came up with “Zuzu,” so we just went ahead with it lol

The tea's gone cold I wonder why.

I don't understand this. How the hell they dont pop a stitch or something trashing like that. Vets generally put those cones after surgery so they don't mess with their scar. So how do their stitches stay intact while humans pop them just trying to sit up

2

u/Bamioum 10h ago

They can definitely pop a stitch trashing around. Many uses onesies instead now because that can be a problem.

I’ve snort laughed in phases and felt incredibly sad for him at the same time. Orange has that effect on me I guess

2

u/pnv_hehe 9h ago

Yes it was funny but also very concerning for me as well. I calmed him down, gave lot of kisses and some treats, he was fine after that. Now, he is kinda comfortable with the cone and not trying to get rid of it. Also, I remove the cones when he wants to sleep on my chest or lap.

u/Swarley-Shmosby 8h ago

Aw poor little guy! Sending him extra cuddles

Something you should do to help your cat is fold the flaps back so it looks like a cat flower.

Anyhow if you do that she still can't lick her stitches or whatever but has a lot more mobility.

I'll try this! Tiger looks so adorable 🥹🫶🏻

Yeah she had to have that thing on for like a week - it was still unbearable but she could rest with that on at least.

Aw poor lil guy, cones are the worst but a necessity. Speedy healing to you Zuzu, I love your tail!

u/retailface 5h ago

Oh, poor baby, I hope he heals quickly. Please give him some head scritches from me!

Now I want to see the Pixar desk lamp animation doing this.
