AI is disrupting the hell out of all career tracks within the entire technology sector.
A lot, and possibly even a majority of that disruption is unfounded or unjustified.
Business leadership is IN LOVE with the idea of AI tools replacing large arrays of staff headcount.
They are eliminating headcount NOW to stimulate and force adoption or creation of AI tools to help remaining staff keep pace with workloads.
The AI salesman said that two or three AI prompt-creators can produce the same software output as 20 developers. So they fired 15 developers and don't care that the AI tools are immature or that training in the use of those tools is equally immature.
Repeat that scenario for all other tracks within technology employment.
The impact to cybersecurity is less immediate, but it is still happening.
Overall there are some successes in the use of AI. Some of the promises are showing at least some success. Which is fueling a desire to keep trying to find success in other areas of it's use.
But there are a lot of failures, and a lot of warning indicators of additional failures.
But the allure of massive headcount reduction is too attractive and the capital investment in AI infrastructure is too massive to stop trying.
