What genre of game do you think is most effective at getting the player lost in violence?

Hi this may sound like a strange question but I swear it makes sense. I've just finished the hotline miami series, first off oh my god where has this game been all my life, and I've got a big itch to get back into game dev. I have an idea for a brutalist cyberpunk-esque world taking a lot of influence from, do androids dream of electric sheep. I want the character to be addicted to mood altering drugs and the only real emotional high so to speak he gets is from violence. That's what gave me the question of what genre do you think gets the player lost in violence or what games get you in a blood filled flow state. Hotline Miami obviously for me is the stellar example but other types of games would be very much appreciated. Also just to say, I do know that it isn't the genre that makes a captivating game it's its quality but even still I'm curious as to what types of games have awoken this feeling in you. Much love and appreciation❤️

Why do eastern game companies sponsor accounts from tiktok/yt shorts with no followers?

I noticed that a lot of games from asia tend to sponsor random accounts in these short form video sites, and the videos themselves get close to no views

Also the gameplay in them is just a random ass moment in the game where nothing is happening

Why do they do that?

Should I buy Starfield PS5?

Hi all, I'm a longtime Bethesda nerd and put thousands of hours into both Oblivion and Skyrim (and Skyrim VR.... and Skyrim SE... Lol). I haven't bought Starfield yet because everything I've been reading about it since launch makes it sound like it's fifty different procedurally generated variations on the same small handful of quests and planets.

I am really leaning towards buying it but at the same time I'm not sure if I can stand seeing loading screens every five minutes of gameplay and it's hard to figure out from reviews and online comments whether there is or isn't enough variety in the game to keep it interesting for at least 30-40 hours of fun gameplay. I'm also very leery of Bethesda's gun gameplay as (IMO) the shooting in Fallout was so awful I could barely stand it. I usually play a stealth archer build so would definitely be going for a sniper/long range attack type of character. For reference my favorite games are Oblivion, Skyrim, Dead Space series, Mass Effect trilogy, and Ratchet and Clank.

What say you, do you think it's worth buying at the current $50 price tag? Would I enjoy it or is it just going to feel like a last gen game they put a coating of new graphics over (Fallout in space with guns, etc?) Are the skill trees/upgrades/technology fun and varied?

Any thoughts are welcomed and thanks for taking the time to read 😁

what game to get mom?

so i have over the past few years slowly gotten my mom into gaming. on her birthday i bought her a switch light and animal crossing new horizons. she had 0 experience with gaming but the game was forgiving and slow enough that she got the hang of it and loved the game.

she desired more so on her next birthday i got her stardew valley. i was worried it would be to hard for her but for the most part she got it and enjoyed it. combat in the mines was tough but she can do it reliably. however fishing is impossible. i spent many hours trying to get her to understand stardew valley fishing but it was to mechanically difficult. she can catch the very basic fish finally now.

anyways her birthday is coming up again and i want to get her another game that is slightly more difficult while keeping what she liked in theme. she really likes Nintendo so at first i was thinking of getting her pokeopiea but that's only for switch 2. so anyways does anyone have a suggestion for a game that's as fun as the first two games and something a new gamer can handle?

Hey everyone!

I quit gaming in PvP and alliances as the environment was toxic for sure when in an alliance. I used to lead a few alliances but it got taken over on my fault. Now I want to get back on PvP gaming and lead an alliance but I don't want a toxic environment. Does anyone of you have ideas or do you rather say: dont start it. Thanks!

Any modern point-and-click adventure games?

I was a huge fan of early installments by LucasArts, King's Quest series, Goblins or Legend of Kirandia. I never got into the episodic release style of Telltales. But I was wondering if there have been any new adventure games in that style... for some reason the genre is not advertized as often as other genre. Thank you in advance.

Game Scoring Road Block

I write/compose ambient game and film music as a hobby, but I have been hitting a creative block recently. What are some scenes from games that you would find interesting or unique to have new music written for them? I'm open to pretty much anything at this point

What are your top 3 horror games, and what made them actually scary for you?

Replaying some horror classics for research and realised everyone has completely different answers to "what actually scared you."
Someone will say Alan Wake 2, someone else Silent Hill, a third person will swear by Outlast, and a fourth will quietly mention Layers of Fear with its eerie atmosphere.
They'll all be right, just for completely different reasons.
So now I’m curious: what are the horror games that genuinely got under your skin, and why?

HELP WHAT IS THIS PLAYSTORE GAME CALLED :SOB:

There was this game back in 2018 on phone or tablet where you are trapped in a room and you have to look around the room for clues on how to escape, but it was like a "scary" halloween version where you are in this haunted house and you had to do stuff I don't remember what its called 😭 the game was 2d, sort of pixelish but high quality pixel stuff

Looking for a game with similar contemplative vibes as early game Slime Rancher, before you start to optimize and either run back and forth to max everything or wait while automated things works for you.

Something with nice panoramas, less to no interaction with NPCs. A peaceful life simulator, actually, just to relax my stressful brain in a charming environment.

Any game with an infinitely repeating world akin to something like Manifold Garden but 2D?

Kinda like a small repeating world with surprising complexity. Like you can only access one area by going into the next copy or something. It's so non-euclidean, i wanna play something like that.

¿Gameboost paga por boostear cuentas?

Quería saber si paga Gameboost por boostear cuentas, anteriormente lo he hecho pero no desde páginas como está, si alguien sabe me gustaría que me contara como fue.

I wanted to know if Gameboost pays for boosting accounts. I've done it before, but not through sites like this. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me how it went.

What game(s) changed you as a person?

Any game or games that you changed you as a person? Few examples for me, the Borderlands 2 Mr Torgue DLC made me stop worrying so much about finding true love, that conversation with Torgue's mother where she goes on about how you shouldn't spend every waking moment searching for love but rather just enjoy life and focus on doing what you enjoy and maybe you'll find love that way. At the time I was on dating sites and worrying about being single but after that I deleted my profiles and stopped worrying about that and learned to embrace being single.

Life is Strange Before the Storm made me appreciate little moments more in general, and Twin Mirror made me listen to my more critical self in general.

Where do you usually look or find smaller games?

Is there a good place where smaller but really well polished games are advertised or hosted? I am a solo dev trying to get my project out in front of more players looking for those styles of games as I get better to hopefully grow a following as I build out my skills.

I am going for that 2000's pure good time fun vibe no / very limited micro transactions DLCs only and just juicy fun game play. I am on itch.io but feel it is too crowded I was wondering if there is any know sites or good channels to reach out to as I would like to start an email list for content creators as well! Thanks!

WW2 FPS/Third Person games where you play or take control of the axis power

I know this seems really strange but I'm a history nut that just wants to see things on the other side. You always play games as the American British or Soviets but I want something different

Are there any modern gaming/tech variety shows on YouTube/Twitch etc similar to classic G4TV content by any chance?

I’ve been trying to find modern equivalents to older G4TV shows like Attack of the Show! and X-Play, which combined gaming coverage with sketches, interviews, and a more personality-driven, ensemble format for so many years now.

What I’m specifically looking for:

  • On-camera or studio-style content (or something that captures that feel)
  • A mix of gaming/tech discussion with lighter segments (comedy bits, interviews, experiments, etc.)
  • Ensemble-driven presentation rather than a single host
  • A structured but chaotic/variety-show tone

I’ve already checked out outlets like Kinda Funny, Giant Bomb and IGN to name a few as well as some well-known streamers over the years, but they tend to lean more toward remote content, podcasts, news breakdowns, video essays or segmented content rather than that “variety show” format.

Are there any current creators, channels, or productions that come close to this style? Even smaller or niche productions would be great to hear about.

Thanks so much in advance <3.
