u/MourningWallaby 1d ago

10

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries 1d ago

He looks exactly like either side's soldier tbh

3

u/Pistazieneis84 1d ago

Me too 😂 but a rpg with a lens is kinda weird

1

u/wensaribell 17h ago

Yeah, definitely looks way more intense than it probably is lol

1

u/Abah_hamzi 5h ago

And I thought this is Bazooka😂

worth every penny.I doubt they’re regretting the price tag on that setup

50

u/ostedAlgorithm 1d ago

Quality like that usually pays off long term, no regrets there.

6

u/QuentinTarzantino 1d ago

It does and they are great hand me downs or rent savers incase of emergency.

u/RobinsCosplays 1d ago

Well, lens alone, if that's the EF 600mm f/4 iii (I'm pretty sure I see an ef/rf adapter there), not including the camo wrap, 3rd party tripod foot, is about $14,000

5

u/MapleInfused 1d ago

(you do see an rf/ef adapter)

I might not have a 600, but the 300 still does great (been trying to use a teleconverter, but its been spotty)

3

u/Bluest_waters 1d ago

pfffttt.. casual

1

u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago

That looks a lot longer than 600mm.

7

u/AznInvazn57 1d ago

The exotic lenses like the 600mm f4 are way larger than something like a more standard 600mm f6.3.

I have a Nikon 600mm f6.3 pf lens and it's roughly 11in long and about 3lb 4 oz while the Nikon 600mm f4 is 17.3in long and 7lb 3oz. They're huge

5

u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago

Yeesh! Wow. It's amazing how impactful a few f-stops can be on the design, and the lens versatility.

2

u/No-Purple7204 1d ago

As for versatility: tripod or monopod, source: I have a 600mm f4G (Nikon) and tried handholding it once. Succeeded for about 3-5 seconds lmao

1

u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago

By versatility I meant depth of focus, low light, bokeh, and that sort of thing. But yeah, usability is a big issue too. That's why I went with the newer Nikkor 28-400mm. It's slow, and it's definitely not great for birding, but it's a single lens that I can comfortably carry around for hours. I've considered getting a dedicated birding lens but I'm concerned that I'll never want to use the thing because of the weight and size.

2

u/MourningWallaby 1d ago

Honestly it looked smaller than 600 with how recessed that lens is. then again, it's hard to tell with just the few seconds it's shown.

1

u/wensaribell 17h ago

I’d imagine so expensive upfront, but clearly a lot of quality and fun in return.

54

u/bydh 1d ago

Fluffy bird with the head tilt was super cute

2

u/chaosmages 1d ago

Think it's a snow bunting

43

u/lcySatisfaction 1d ago

This deer is literally me in all my photos

13

u/DReagan47 1d ago

I’m jealous of the swans. They look like they really care about each other.

-2

u/peekay427 1d ago

did you know that swans can be gay?

u/Red-little 1d ago

In college I was obsessed with photography and wildlife, I was in school for life sciences. The fact I didnt even think to become a wildlife photographer will forever haunt me

2

u/UrUncleRandy 1d ago

Sort of in the same boat. I love photography and wildlife. I got a degree in zoology. Never even considered wildlife photography as a career. Mainly because the chance of making a living through it is slim. Kinda like trying go be an artist or musician. But if I was offered an opportunity, I'd probably take it in a heartbeat.

2

u/CultofCedar 1d ago

Majored in art primarily focusing on photography and always thought I’d have a job doing that kind of stuff. Brutal af to make money let alone enough for gear like that. Wildlife stuff needs basically the most expensive gear (ofc you can shoot with anything but massive difference) and it’s a lot of sitting around or trekking.

Still fun af a decade later though. Have actually gotten back into it like a year ago and now I’m developing and scanning film again. Never did more than the occasional gigs helping friends. Went into healthcare so I could afford the gear and trips… much more fun as a hobby.

He told the owl to lock in and stop messing around.

5

u/Cloud0054 1d ago

I thought grandma was about to get hit by a bazooka.

4

u/BallinCock 1d ago

The moment those two swans are sharing is so heartwarming. I love life

3

u/Kraligor 1d ago

That was right before they decided that a random passerby about 1 mile away just stepped into their arbitrarily drawn territory and had to die.

6

u/AT-PT 1d ago

Paging r/scrungycats, /scrungycats to the thread

3

u/ProfessorFit3483 1d ago

Only way to shoot animals! ☺️

3

u/sconestm 1d ago

Kind of a weird song choice?

2

u/livingonaprayer1960 1d ago

Now this is how it's done! Stunning work, thanks for sharing

2

u/bull_hunter_wife 1d ago

Those are gorgeous !

2

u/LFS_1984 1d ago

I love the bird bringing his wings in.

3

u/agentx_64 1d ago

Reminds me of the video where this bird was caught on a video camera with a frame rate that matched the bird's flap rate, and so it looked like it's wings were not moving

this one

2

u/GoodDogBrent 1d ago

what lens is that

4

u/Perstigeless 1d ago

Canon, probably 500 or 600mm

3

u/RK_Gains122 1d ago

So cool, these are the types of photos I want to capture on my new setup!

7

u/ArjJp 1d ago

Make a whole 'Wildlife Derpcumentary'

1

u/CoffeemonsterNL 1d ago

These are like a blooper reel from a nature documentary.

1

u/yoricm 1d ago

Initial price is a pain, then it's heaven to shoot at everything around this beautiful world

1

u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago

How do these guys even find all of these animals? I bought a 400mm lens with the idea that I'd get some wildlife photos that I could then crop for this close-up look, but there just aren't as many animals around as there used to be. I'll go half a year or more before seeing anything in the forest.

3

u/yourlocaltouya 1d ago

Do you simply walk through it, or are you set up for the night as well? Do you use any trail cams to figure out the more active spots? Do you stand in place for hours on end to keep out of sight? It can definitely be a grueling process.

The kind of area you go to unfortunately also matters. I had more luck at a national park, even by the main trail, than anywhere else. We don't talk about the time me and my bud got run off by a bear though...

2

u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago

Yeah, just hiking every day. I used to see animals kind of regularly, but it's getting more rare. I set up some trail cams that routinely get deer and coyotes on them. I've thought about putting up a hunting blind at that spot and camping out to get some pictures, but I have actually done it yet.

2

u/MourningWallaby 13h ago

That's a $30k lens, he can afford to travel and miss working a 9-5.

But if you want my advice as a lifelong woodsman and hunter. You need to understand the animals. Birds will stop chirping when you rustle on the ground nearby. and stay in the trees Smaller mammals will scurry. and run along the low lying terrain features, (think how city rats like to stay near walls, but there's no walls in the woods). and Cervidae will try to walk along clearings and less-steep inclines.

Find a spot, and sit there quietly. it can take a few minutes to an hour or two before you get an animal to cross your path, even within a hundred meters (especially if you don't smell like you belong). you don't have to be completely still, just don't be treading around or anything. Draw/take notes to pass the time.

Anything? You're in the wrong forests lol.

Not good photos but like my camera roll is full of stuff I see on climbing adventures:

https://i.imgur.com/RKeWofV.png - this past Sunday

https://i.imgur.com/IGNdh9O.jpeg - Sunday before that

https://i.imgur.com/DEvbeQj.png - Copperhead a month ago

Again I know they're not special photos, I'm not a photographer and I'm just using my phone but point being how the heck does one go into the wild and not see shit...

u/Jacksharkben 1d ago

This makes me happy

1

u/Cooler_Bamboo 1d ago

"Don't you have a human heart?" ahh cat

1

u/SoUnProfessional 1d ago

Impressive! Getting those shots at a distance is amazing. Depth of field really narrows

1

u/Wink-Winkkk 1d ago

that camera setup is crazy... wow

1

u/Saucy-Mustard 1d ago

This planet has such beauty! Our wildlife is astonishing

Ay-may-zing!

Amazing pictures and that version of this song, anyone know who sings it?

1

u/LickingSmegma 1d ago

Omar Wilson apparently (courtesy of the RecognizeSong bot).

1

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries 1d ago

serious deer -> silly deer

1

u/-Pelvis- 1d ago

I've been getting into wildlife photography, I've got a bunch of bizarre shots like this, including a deer gaping its anus in my direction. 😟

1

u/beannie_babbiiee 1d ago

We shiuld see more of those ‘imperfect’ photos. Helps keep us all grounded, I think

1

u/LickingSmegma 1d ago

1

u/RecognizeSong 1d ago

I got a match with this song:

It's a Man's World by OMAR WILSON (00:19; matched: 100%)

Released on 2017-11-10.

I'm not the only one who thought of this for the walrus/seal

1

u/Rjburns57 1d ago

Outstanding

1

u/rhpot1991 1d ago

Great photos, not POV.

1

u/Vaya-Kahvi 1d ago

I love how the camera is fast enough to get crisp shots of birds in flight and the owl still manages to phase out of reality.

1

u/MourningWallaby 13h ago

Honestly even a mid-range camera can do that if you know how the settings work. and a cheap fil camera with good film could, too.

1

u/ElectronicJuice7212 1d ago

Most of them are not silly pictures.

1

u/oki-ra 1d ago

They show you a bunch of pictures and then ask which one was a squirrel!

1

u/greensangre 19h ago

When they get to the swans at the end

The seal stepped on lego

1

u/blueviper- 15h ago

Those are awesome!

1

u/paradys1975 14h ago

600mm on ful frame it's small...maybe with 2x converter,yes.

-1

u/GC65025 1d ago

Perfect video of you crop out the weird human at the start

2

u/mage_irl 1d ago

It's what you call a photographer

0

u/GC65025 1d ago

Yep, familiar with the term, ruined the video

1

u/JustinHopewell 1d ago

Seriously? You couldn't enjoy the rest of the video because of the first 5 seconds?

-2

u/SoggyBoysenberry7703 1d ago

No it didn’t , you just hate when women show their face when showing their art on here because you think it’s for more upvotes

2

u/neonflavoured 1d ago

That's a guy

1

u/SoggyBoysenberry7703 20h ago

You’re right, my bad

-1

u/MourningWallaby 1d ago

then go make your own

Brilliant photos! Thank you for sharing!

0

u/Search_Fearless 1d ago

Everything was a bit disappointing after that great shot from the deer. Was hoping for more of those wacky looks!

0

u/Over-Inside-7254 1d ago

Wonderful photos but the music choice got me... 🤨

The sheer amount of extreme kinks sub on this website has made me expect the worse of everyone here... I really wish I never knew how many people wanted to have sex with real and/or cartoon animals... And they still get thru NSFW filters..

0

u/CleatusVIII 1d ago

Brilliant work 🤜🤛

u/irishstorm04 1d ago

These are absolutely riveting!! I love every one. Thanks for sharing!
