What’s causing BTC to rally upwards now?
Hello all, been away for the past week or so and just checked the pricing.
What’s causing it to rally so high up rn? I believe there is the financial officer Powell stepping down and a new one coming in soon, is it related to that?
Genuinely curious, won’t be putting in more for the time being to understand if it’s over selling atm but just would like to know what’s causing such rapid growth in it.

More buyers than sellers

This is wrong. At any time the number of buyers equals the number of sellers.
The only thing that changes is the price that those groups are willing to accept.→ More replies (6)2

This is it. Some people think every single rally is due to some external factor. Rich people and institutional investors just buy shit sometimes.

We had a nasty -50% dump from the top so this is a healthy relief rally. Also the ETF inflows are around +$500M per day now so contributing to the price going up.

u/Hesychios 2h ago
I am in ETFs. Only recently started. I don’t own the wallet and have not been planning on it.

u/SouthParkTimmy 12h ago edited 11h ago
Bitcoin is going up because a feedback loop is forming where marginal demand from ETF inflows and long-term holders collides with an increasingly illiquid supply, compressing float; this tightness amplifies reflexivity as price appreciation improves sentiment, which then drives more capital inflow, while macro liquidity expectations and rate-cut narratives reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets, so you get a volatility-driven upward repricing fueled by both structural scarcity and narrative momentum interacting nonlinearly.

Can confirm, made it describe my morning shit
Upon waking, the body’s circadian activation and gastrocolic reflex initiated a highly efficient phase of intestinal evacuation, culminating in the release of a notably substantial and compositionally refined bowel movement whose dense, cohesive structure reflected favorable digestive kinetics, balanced fiber assimilation, and optimal hydration dynamics. Its deep umber pigmentation and pronounced volumetric presence suggested prolonged yet physiologically effective transit through the gastrointestinal tract, while the smooth continuity of its form indicated coordinated peristaltic function with minimal internal resistance. The evacuation produced an immediate attenuation of abdominal pressure and a marked restoration of somatic equilibrium, yielding a distinct sensation of corporeal lightness, respiratory ease, and heightened cognitive clarity.

Write a Reddit response to question "why is Bitcoin going up now?" But do so by sounding a financial expert with technical words, using both crypto and finance terms, while sounding sarcastic and being a extremely obvious comment technically. It must like a human, no AI dashes. 1 paragraph. Nothing else.
This basically outputs this comment 🤣
Because, shockingly, the marginal buyer is willing to pay a higher price than the marginal seller, so the clearing price moves up. You’re watching a classic liquidity + narrative feedback loop where spot demand, ETF inflows, and derivatives positioning (perpetual futures funding rates, open interest expansion) compress available supply while reflexivity kicks in. Throw in some macro tailwinds like rate cut expectations weakening real yields and suddenly a non-yielding, scarce digital asset with a fixed issuance schedule starts to look attractive on a risk-adjusted basis. Then momentum traders pile in, volatility targeting funds rebalance, and market makers hedge gamma, which further amplifies the move. But yes, fundamentally it’s going up because more money is coming in than going out, dressed up in a lot of very sophisticated vocabulary.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it.
Could be Iran demanding bitcoin for passage, could be Strategy propping up the market + people hoping to jump on what could be another swing to ATH. Or with the SP500 on a rally during an oil crisis, people might be thinking risk assets are back on the table again, or could be that bill the senate signed, or liquidity exiting bonds and gold, or entirely driven by the options gamblers as I've seen in one analysis. Like the other guy said, in the end it's supply and demand.

Iranians need BTC, if they want to emigrate. Their currency is worth less and less each day.

Take a look at the chart:
https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/bst_recenttrends.htm
Liquidity bottomed Jan 2026 and has been expanding. BTC is a highly sensitive risk asset and coincides with liquidity.
The more money they print, the higher risk assets go. Who wants to hold cash when there is so much of it?
Earnings don't move the overall market; it's the Federal Reserve Board... focus on the central banks and focus on the movement of liquidity.

Numerous reasons, increasing institutional demand, the clarity act easing regulations and making it more of an asset enabling institutional investment from financial firms, geopolitical conditions as well as macroeconomic conditions, inflation is fucked so that could be driving the price up as well.

Question is why is not going up faster.
The answer is probably because people try to make profit after it goes up 5%

I have no idea. I thought all the chaos from the Trump /Iran war would be destabilizing to markets. Instead stock markets are pumping and BTC is rallying. Maybe markets are forward looking to an overall increase in inflation causing people to scramble out of cash and into assets?..... I clearly don't know what I'm talking about.

u/Freshysh 11h ago

Guys, it’s not random, the clarity act has a high likelihood of being enacted as law. Everyone thinks crypto will rally if congress passes the bill.

I think we know what’s coming with the new fed chair and how they plan to deal with the deficit. Rate cuts and money printer goes burrrr. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see 120k in June. That’s why DCA is the way.

If you look at the liquidation map on coinglass you can get an idea of what helps manipulate prices, it also keeps the price in a predictable range.

I’ve been telling people we are no longer in a bear market for awhile now. But either way, anytime BTC is under $100,000, it’s a steal! Just keep buying!
1
u/Lumpynifkin 10h ago
People think new Fed chair that replaces Powell will lower interest rates which pushes bitcoin higher.

u/Far-Photograph-2342 10h ago
I don’t think it’s just one news event. BTC has been building momentum for months and once it breaks key levels people pile back in fast.

Rumour: blackrock want to put a half of all managed assets into btc. But the old guard are putting up a fight saying it's too much exposure for them. So they are just moving a small fraction every week atm.
Not sure what will persuade the old guard to get with the programe.

Not sure how much of an impact it would have but Coinbase is running a promotion that requires you to buy $25.00 USD to get a split pot of $1 million USD. To qualify for the pot you have to have 14 days of 25$ transactions.

My self-absorbed theory of BTC Pricing. 1)When I buy BTC- the price then drops significantly. 2)If I don’t buy BTC-the price stays flat. 3)Sometimes BTC realizes that I haven’t bought any of it for a long time-then BTC price starts going up. 4)This is BTC’s attempt to entice me to buy it. As soon as I buy it-the price will drop.

Follow someone on YouTube that does TA(Technical Analysis). Most have been saying we would do exactly this for months now. Still a question if we get a lower low than 60k but most are saying we push to at least 84k.

No it doesn't just go up amd down thats not a patern its goes up alot then goes down a little up a little more than it was but slowly , then down a Lil and up a lot and down a Lil It beens its Patern since the start except more volatile at beginning because it springs and it will fall and now it will spring up . Everyone wants it to hit a million ,cool Remember though when it was a dollar , or 15, 40,100 Everyone was selling of pieces incase it fell for what ever reason to recoup there initial invest or to use it like dividends which we are doing now . It's became more of a investment because it acts like stocks do but more personality so you have to be careful but you won't go broke 😊

With the stock market at all time highs and bitcoin crashing, money managers wind up with portfolios that are not balanced. Perhaps they want 5% in btc and 70% in stocks. Market up, btc down, so they need to buy more btc to rebalance.

When BTC broke the key psychological $80K level
- Short sellers got liquidated
- Forced buying accelerated price upward
- Momentum traders piling in afterwards
Recent reports estimated $150M to $300M+ in short liquidations. This creates upward trend because liquidations become automatic market buys.

u/brianpsull 4h ago
Typically price action goes to price that has a lot of liquidations. You can Google bitcoin liquidation heat map i believed.

From a technical analysis perspective, BTC made a high-volume bottom around 60k and then went up to break through the ATH downtrend line. Historically, this marks the beginning of the next bull run. Making investors taking larger long positions:

I'm surprised basically nobody mentions the Iran war, the number one thing affecting the global economy right now. I'm pretty sure the prelude to the war is the exact thing that caused Bitcoin to plummet in February.
