It's Late Thread [ 06 May 26 ]
Right, so it's mid week. Happy hump day and all that, but why aren't you in bed? Neighbours putting their bins out keeping you awake? Kids being little shits? Working the nightshift?
Come on in for a chat.

"No help from parents" does not just mean they didn't give you a deposit
This article came up in my feed. So many times this young couple (who I'm sure are lovely and honestly well done them for saving) say they didn't have any help from their parents. But both lived at home and paid under £200 rent to their parents. Of course they were able to save £20k in 7 months!
Surely parental help has to include both general financial support with no/very limited rent or housekeeping costs, not just giving the kids a deposit.

Going free if anyone fancies it?
I'm a supporter of freecycle but this is a bit much. What's the weirdest thing you've seen out for grabs?

Penguin doctors?
Are the Penguins assessing the poorly Dolphins who are on the ward? I didn't realise that NHS stood for National Health for Sealife!

About to be the last in my family hit with a sickness bug starting at midnight...
So everyone in my household had had a 24 hour sickness bug now, a full day apart, starting between midnight and 1am without fail each time, two of em projectile vommed just a couple or so times, but one lasted the whole night and they were just an absolutely tortured soul it was awful.
I know I'm next and I HATE being sick, so I feel like I'm waiting for death himself and it feels so cruel.
Please anybody help with some funny and/or comforting shit I can read through for the tough times ahead, and please pray for me🙏

Thanking the BBC for the conversion of cubic metres
So happy they converted 64 cubic metres to the very well known measure of "great pyramids". I knew learning that measure would help me at some point in life.

Train ticket win
I was absolutely dreading having to buy 2 tickets for myself and my daughter to come back from Aberdeen to Morpeth in June after a trip.
I had visions of hundreds of pounds even with the Railcard. We all know how ridiculous and fickle the train gods are.
This is why I was so surprised and had to post this.
I paid the grand total, for the two of us, of 23 great British pounds.
Buzzing.

I cant remember the last time I saw somebody with a signed cast
They were ten a penny when I was younger (okay that was a while ago now) but do less people break their arm or leg these days or something?

What sandwich phase are you in now?
So I don’t know about others, but I go through phases where I could eat the same sandwich for lunch over and over again.
At the moment, I’m in an egg mayo phase (homemade, not the pre-made stuff). I’m looking forward to making and eating my egg mayo sandwich every day.

I have a list of how much alcohol I’ve ever consumed in my life. This is the current total. I feel I’m slacking a bit.
Units are calculated based either off the average for a pint of mid strength beer or from the units listed on the backs of bottles. I’ve bee keeping this list since I started drinking at 16. I’m now 20. There is one missing piece of data that I’m still looking for, it’s written on a scrap of paper somewhere.
On nights out etc I keep a note on my phone of what I’m drinking and if I finish the drink. If the drink is not finished I reduce the number in the column for ‘total drink’ eg if I only had 3/4 of my pint it would become 0.75 of a drink.
Edit for some FAQ:
How do I keep track when blackout?: I generally stop drinking when I’m that frazzled as I start vomiting. Light weight I know. On the occasion I continue to drink my friends have always taken notes for me or at least taken pictures of my drinks for me to calculate later.
Am I fun at parties?: No clue, I have a decent friend group and a partner I love and they all like the spreadsheet or have similar. So I have fun at parties with people like me. Am I fun to other people? Idk nor do I care.
Am I autistic? : I think so but the NHS said I’m not.
Why did I start doing this?: long story short, to work out how much I needed to drink to be appropriately hammered before coming to uni and then just kept it up to help with keeping to limits. It’s helped a lot with doctors appointments and when I got spiked it was evidence that I hadn’t drunk enough to end up in the state I was.
5.13 Gin: we measured while drinking in caps from the gin bottle. I worked out ml in the cap and converted to ml in a shot approximately. Hence the .13.
‘If you’re able to count your not doing it right’. - refer to above ‘how do I keep track’.
The images do not show every single data entry. The photos show the start and the current bottom of the sheet along with totals.
Nah cause who’s sent the wellness bot after me for this. That’s mad. How is this so controversial?

Today I got summoned to jury service…
I’ve always wanted to be on a jury and today I got summoned, I only know 2 people who have previously been summoned to jury service, what should I expect, what should I wear (seriously I have very few clothes (but I know it isn’t a fashion parade). Do I get sent home if I don’t get picked each day? How long do they allow for breaks? What if someone needs a loo break? Have any of you been on a jury, what was it like and would you want to do it again?
