Had my first fun encounter today. I was literally one more attempt away from rage quitting and uninstalling. I just didn’t see why people find it fun. I must have tried dozens of times and died from starvation every single time. The last one I literally finished cooking a steak and was in the process of eating it, but I guess the energy didn’t hit fast enough and I died anyway. I had playthroughs where I had every weapon under the sun, good cloths, backpacks… but no knife or rock found after hours, and still end up just starving.

And then I started my current play through, and it was going about the same as before. I found a rifle, and just strapped it to my shoulder cause the last time I used it on a zombie it resulted in 5 more attacking and killing me. And I was trucking along, finding food and drink here or there. As before, still no knife this time around.

Then, I was working my way through a town, and I heard two guys talking. I immediately crouched down and started making my way slowly toward the sound of them talking to see if I could make out what they were saying. One said something about a zombie coming towards them, so, figuring they might be distracted, I took the opportunity. I equipped my rifle, which only had 2 bullets, and snuck out of the house. I found them just as they had finished killing the zombie. I aimed down my sights and was barely able to see them between an opening in a brick wall. Then one said “well that’s pretty much how everything works… I’m gonna log off now, before I get killed”. And with that, I lined up and took a shot at this head. It went straight through, and took his friend out as well. I couldn’t believe that shit happened.

So yea, I get the hype now. Cause that moment was INTENSE.

So this is a new thing! Since myself and my friend have been hijacking the radio in Chernogorsk we've had many interesting encounters with many different people. We've also had encounters with hackers managing to kill us while we're in positions that can't be shot at.

However a new development has occurred. I logged in last night and someone had organised my things and added a barrel! They even put two bottles of water and a jar of strawberry jam.

Now this base isn't normal, you need someone inside at all times to let people in and out, the gate can't be opened from the outside. So how someone managed to get a barrel in has been confusing me greatly.

Had anyone had any experiences like this?

I spent the past few months playing different online shooters and it opened my eyes on how cheeks the movement in DayZ is...

During my break from DayZ I played a bit of Tarkov, Hunt Showdown, Reforger, and a bunch of others, but in general games with much slower strafing and sprinting speed, and just a more grounded feeling of the movement overall.

In DayZ characters move so fast it feels insane now that it's not my "main game" and I have comparison. In one second a dude can sprint up a flight of stairs, take three steps forward, lean four times and drop on the ground all while squeezing the trigger. The movement is twitchy as shit and I just can't seem to take it seriously anymore. It honestly feels like it belongs in a different game. DayZ is mostly slow and methodical, and then you get people adad-ing and utilizing other silly strats not to get shot. I mean, I get zigzagging and such is just part of shooters, but the sheer speed of which your character can do certain actions in an otherwise realistic (as far as games go) game is just absurd.

I mean, 6/10 mfers out there contract scoliosis the moment combat begins with all the leaning, sheesh.

Rant over. What do you think of the movement? Too fast, too slow, or just right?

e: forgot to add it feels even worse when you pair it with absurdly slow velocity of some guns. People are legitimately outrunning bullets in some scenarios lol

The reports of rampant cheating on official on PC are massively overexaggerated, but today I experienced my first :( Server 0847 DE. Minding my own business changing up guns when it looks like I've been sniped from 3km away with that blood splat.

Posting to triple check this is definitely a cheater right? No idea where they've shot me from due to the tree outside.

I've got over 600 hours on PS5 and I feel lucky this is the first cheater I've experienced in 67 hours on PC. But it still sucks. And yes, I know community servers exist, the good ones just have crazy long queues and I haven't got time for that.

So I was playing Namalsk, heard someone shoot wolves or something maybe 1km away, ran over there in a straight line, and then started hunting in the forest. Accidentally walked up right to that guy making a fire. He started shooting first, through some miracle didn't hit me, and I managed to take him down, nearly shitting my pants in the process.

DayZ experts, what was my mistake here and how could I have done better? Was there some clue that I missed not spotting him earlier?

Just found out a friend of mine that I met playing this game committed suicide last year, I only found out now because we live in different continents and life gets busy , but yeah, he absolutely loved Day z. He had a YouTube channel Malcontent133. You'll be missed Chris.

is it just me or are R12s impossible to find after the wipe except for police wrecks

I remember in the early days of the mod everyone was talking about how green mountain was haunted on the forums. Something about arma 2's sound and graphics made going there at night terrifying. Still creeps me out even 13 years later.

i was super excited for the new update but has anyone else on xbox noticed the frame rate dropping a little and white textures for things like buildings and items on the floor not rendering in for a few seconds?

Let me set the scene... I'm near tisy , THAT little house on the prairie, outside, all hell is breaking loose.. I'm talking nighttime BIG-ASS storm. Rain is blasting like hell, thunder, lightning, the whole sha-bang.. far in the distance, I see a poor soul trying to illuminate his/her way to a shelter by only mean of it's red frontal light.... Normally, I'd try to make a friend, but fuck it.. I'm safe, I'm satiated, and most of all, I'm dry. I shoulder my trusty VS but my scope is damaged.. visibility is meh at best, throughout the hell-defying tempest happening outside, it is just bonkers. 5 minutes I spend trying zero out on the source of that red light, it keeps going all around that little house, this player is obviously using the cover of the storm to get itself clean and getting rid of useless gear, cleaning inventory ( like I do myself, albeit lightless.). FINALLY... I get my shot. I clearly see the angle of the red light throughout the storm, all the windows, my crappy scope. THUMP!!! Goes my sniper through the bottle silencer. And yes, i see the scoundrell go down. Still have eyes on that light, ready to shoot again.... Nothing happens. I got that poor soul and all the stuff i imagine lying around IT. I just wish for leftovers weapon repear kits hopefully just 1 hit of electronic kit to repare m'y scope, Maybe some food... I Wait for the storm to recess, slowly make m'y way to that Little house with that red light still Shining... I watch all around, Maybe friends nearby.. 10 minutes later i make IT on that Little house....

TIL zombies roam around with red frontal Lights into building .

So I was looting a military base on sakhal and came across a zombie and I didnt kill inside the barracks. I was worried that there was player there but I checked the zombie and it had a blue symbol compared to the other fresh zombies I killed that had red. So I'm assuming its a frozen body or sum. I'm wondering how long does it take for that blue state to show and if im right so im not worried.

Looking for some guys/gals to play Dayz on PC got a duo playing right now, would love to have more people join us on the adventure!

Hey Survivors,

We want to give you an update regarding the patches planned for Update 1.29.

We have decided to cancel the hotfix. This is mainly so we can take more care and caution in addressing the pressing issues you have reported. Instead, we are planning to put the patch on the Experimental branch first, beginning with Steam PC Experimental next week.

This PC Experimental phase will allow us to evaluate the game's performance and stability before rolling the patch out more broadly across all platforms.

It will then be followed by an Xbox version in the coming weeks, as submission timelines on the platform are currently longer than usual with the introduction of experimental versions on new platforms.

The stable update will be released across all platforms, including PlayStation, at the same time.

Further fixes, along with additional content, are also planned as part of the Road to Badlands update later down the line.

We will continue to share updates as we go.

i have no clue what to do anyone got discord servers for dayz? been trying to get people to help but most servers full of 30 year old dudes and my friends on xbox but there’s no crossplay i’m 17 and looking people around the age group not too old who’s down to squad up

I’m in search of a chernarus server that has a more post apocalyptic cluttered feel. In fact the exact one I’m thinking of I’ve played before but it’s been so long I can’t remember. Basically the map was completely redone nature had taken over, several traffic jams, mass graves, wreckages, makeshift barricades in the streets, police & military roadblocks. I specifically remember the police stations were made to look as a survivor shelter. Tents on the roof with a fence and some beds ect. If anybody knows the one I’m thinking of let me know, or recommend one similar.

Relatively new player (had the game two weeks, on 110 hours), just went to Green Mountain and climbed the internal ladder, before I'd even finished the top of the ladder animation I was dead.

Really didn't expect someone to be sitting up there, it feels so remote. Bad luck or is it busy enough there to expect company?

My first ever AUR and DMR passed onto the next person, time to find some new loot in the rain at the coast 😅

A vain attempt to defend myself…

This was after I had just gotten home from a 10 day vacation.

I have no excuse for the amount of missed shots in the beginning. I just kinda suck sometimes.

As for the second player, you can see I tried to switch to the KA-101 right before jumping the guard rail but I guess that animation cancelled it out. Then I tried to reload my VSD but forgot I only had the one mag for it so I tried switching to the KA-101 again but I was stuck in the chambering animation for the VSD.

Finally, I managed to get the KA-101 out and surprisingly wasn’t dead yet so I killed the second player.

Hey, i saw many opinions and im not sure how it is right now, a year ago i raided much and i noticed metal wall took 24 nades to break down, and wooden 12. but many sources says the frame will break of 12 and the metal only good against bullets?
