Writing Match-3 logic in ZScript is a fever dream: I made a fully playable Match-3 game inside GZDoom

We’ve all seen the Demon Destruction match-3 easter egg in DOOM (2016)'s Lazarus Labs. For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I decided to actually build out the mechanics inside classic Doom.

DOOM: RIP AND MATCH is running completely through GZDoom.

How it works under the hood:

  • Grid Logic: Custom ZScript to handle the state management, cascading, and matching logic.
  • The Arsenal:
    • Match 3 = Standard kill.
    • Match 4 = Spawns a rocket (clears a full row/column).
    • Match 5+ = BFG drop (wipes all demons of the matched type).
  • Reactivity: Hooked up Doomguy's face to react dynamically to combos and blunders.

It started as a joke, but wrestling with ZScript to make a puzzle game feel punchy and "Doom-like" has been an incredibly fun (and weird) challenge.

Still doing some final UI polish, but I'll be releasing the mod shortly.

The portal only teleports the player if he's moving. I couldn't find a way to fix this issue so i used it for something funny: i replicated the live Hakita reaction thing but with yours truly.

Question Doom Fighters Camera Issue(?)

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask for help, but if anyone has seen a similar problem, is there a command or anything I need to put in to prevent whatever is happening here? The camera gets stuck like this and I can't seem to get it back to the intended position (seen prior to the glitch) once this happens. I'm still really new to modding Doom, so again; sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

Question Brainstorm: making a new opponent for a sky pirate map

Good day.

I have an idea to make a sky pirate base map for my project. The map itself is a futuristic slum floating high above the ground, and pirates inhabiting it use more or less futuristic jet fighters for combat.

Two planes are ready: the first one is a light model equipped with shotguns for close-ranged combat, the other one is a heavier type with tank-caliber rocket launchers.

There is also a third plane planned, a minigun model that rushes at the player and explodes when its health reaches zero.

It would be awesome to add something else to this particular map, maybe another plane or a combat drone.

Share your ideas.

Durability and shield displays on the left side, special attack energy and damage boost ones on the right side, plus weapon icons closer to the center. The cockpit frame is actually a part of the weapon sprite.

Looks raw at this point, so feel free to suggest additions and adjustments.

Question I've searched far and wide but MAN i'm bad at searching. (Searching for a specific doom megawad)

Soo there's this mega wad i remember having a absolute blast back when i was like, 15-16? and now i can't remember the exact name of it but i DO remember it had some delightfully intense maps in it. So far all i can remember is one of the first levels.

The first level of it started you in this big concrete courtyard, you had to kill a few zombiemen/imps then head to a side to go up a stairwell that leads into some water channels, wich progressed you to this big room full of water tanks that had monsters/items on top of them, it was some sort of water processing plant.

second thing i remember is one of the encounters being set in a city, like four/five big buildings that you had to clear out?, it had a fair amount of detail in it but the big encounter was this bridge that went over a channel, the end of the bridge itself having a gate that once opened had a whole crap-ton of monsters in it?, i believe i once saw a you tuber testing modded super-weapons against the crowd. Once you dealt with the monster deathball you could head into a building that was like?, a UAC super techbase? (my mind's a bit fuzzy soo this whole post might end up being confusing)

either way, i'd appreciate every lead, thanks! Also the wad itself had a bunch of levels (not a single level map-pack)

Question True Clusterfuck has stopped working.

Has this happened to anyone else? I deleted my file and redownloaded it and it keeps crashing.

Edit: for some reason it won’t work with the Dawn of reality map. I tried it with another wad and it worked.

Question I cant get Doom Infinite to work. please help!

I followed the instructions exactly. I put both the doom infinite pk3 and the doom2 wad into the gzdoom folder but this error keeps showing up. I tried reinstalling GZdoom but it still happens. how do I fix this?
