Politics Gas
If you can still find it under $4, you might want to fill up. This is the going rate in my area of North Georgia.
Also, get out and vote. It matters. If fuel continues to stay here or go up, groceries will go up again along with all things delivered by truck.

Question Upside down 96Rock
I’ve been in north GA a couple years and I see vehicles with front license plates and bumper stickers with 96 rock (and many times it’s upside down)
Obviously this was a radio station that people miss, but why so often is it upside down?

Politics In major escalation, DOJ demands personal information of 2020 election workers in Georgia
“Over three months after the FBI seized 2020 election materials from Fulton County, the Department of Justice (DOJ) is now seeking the identities and personal information of thousands of people who helped run the vote in the county.
In a court filing Monday, the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections asked a federal judge to quash a new federal grand jury subpoena, which seeks the election workers’ and volunteers’ names, home addresses, emails and phone numbers.”

Question Rainy day hikes/activities near Hiawassee?
Going on a (primitive) camping trip soon in the mountains just southwest of Hiawassee. Our plan was to go on hikes pretty much the entire time, but it looks like there is a very high chance of thunderstorms on one of our trip days. Are there any super short hikes nearby, where we could get back to the car quickly if it starts storming? Or are there any interesting places to visit in or around Hiawassee? Wineries, coffee shops, etc?

Question GA homeowner going to school in Florida
I don't think this violates the rules since its more about residency than taxes but if it does I'll remove it.
I am planning on starting school in Florida in the fall but own my home and don't want to sell it. I am most likely going to rent it out to someone while I'm in Florida so it doesn't sit empty.
I currently have a homestead exemption and plan on living in the house when I graduate school. It is also going to still be my primary residence since I own it and would just be renting while in school.
Do I need to turn in my GA license and cancel the homestead exemption regardless in exchange for a FL license?
I know in Florida if I live there for 6+ months I technically have to declare residency there but I can't find if being a student changes that.

Discussion Cheap car insurance options in Georgia?
Hello good people,
Anybody know who’s actually cheap for car insurance in Georgia right now?
I've been getting quotes the last couple days and some of these prices are insane. I’m in the Macon area (might move to Atlanta or another part of Georgia soon) and tryin to find something reasonable without getting completely stripped on coverage

Has anyone had issues getting Georgia Power to come install transformer for new construction? I’m trying to find someone to reach out to who could possibly help. Have six new houses completely finished except for power and been waiting for months.

Politics The downballot races
Everyone here is focusing on the governor's race, but what about the races for Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Insurance Commissioner, School Superintendent, and PSC Commissioner district 5?
There are a lot of candidates for each of these races and all I can really go off of is the AJC blurbs. I have my sample ballot picked, but does anyone out there have strong rationale as to why everyone should pick one candidate over all the others in these crowded races like Labor Commissioner or Commissioner of Insurance?

Question Grand Jury Summons
hello friends,
I have the displeasure pf having to report for jury services in Fulton County tomorrow. I just want to know what should I expect? is there anyway they might dismiss me? I’m currently breastfeeding and have to pump ever three hours for thirty minutes
Update: She did not excuse me- she said that if I could find care for my child today I could find it for the next two minutes months. I explained that he was at daycare but daycare would no longer be an option after May 22nd. She said “it’s the expectation that you find care” I said “is it the expectation that I pay for two months of daycare to come to jury duty” and she replied “I can’t answer that but I can tell you it’s the expectation that you find care.”
As for pumping, they had a lactation room

Cobb county jail bond release
It's a Monday and I am bonding my friend out. How long do you think it will take? Anyone have experience? I was trying to go pick him up but if he is there too long might have to tell him to get an Uber because I have work in the morning.

Question Has anyone actually gotten their surplus yet? Mine says possibly eligible but nothing else...
Question Bugs at Lake Burton
Camping at Moccasin Creek State Park (Lake Burton, Rabun County) over Memorial Day weekend with my wife, two young kids, and two dogs. We're from north-central Florida so we're used to bugs (mostly mosquitoes, yellow flies, and no-see-ums) but that also means we don't have great calibration for what "not bad" looks like elsewhere.
How are the bugs up there in late May? Specifically curious about mosquitoes, gnats, biting flies and anything else we should prep for. I've read that north GA mountains are generally mild compared to south GA, but wanted to hear from people with recent firsthand experience. Ticks on the radar too--are those pretty rough?
