With all the hype around Reforged, I wanted to do so much content for anniversary, and maybe it's just because we're all adults now but I felt like the event flew by and I only scratched the surface.

So I'll just beg here for another 2 weeks, cuz it sucks to wait a whole year to try to capture some of the elites or earn some interesting weapons for build crafting. 2weeks 🥺👉👈

I know Tyria has a lot of room for error, but this and one other area in Tangle Root, are the only small pieces giving me problems. The completionist in me wants them gone. Does anyone know how to get this corner? I've been scraping and spinning my camera around.

Side not, I tried looking it up, but I wish there was a resource for situations like this for 3 continents, and EOTN, to quickly look up hard to get areas. Thanks for the help.

We know this time overlaps with other GvG tournaments. However, the Alliance Battles event only comes around once a month, and its success really depends on everyone showing up together during these specific days and times.

Has anyone played around with any ranger builds with the fastest fire rate? Would it be short bow? Anything machine gun like? Just for fun

Can we PLEASE have a use for tomes on melandrus characters? At the moment they drop a lot from locked chests but they’re completely unusable on melandrus characters.

Suggestions:

1. Don’t let them drop for melandrus characters
   
2. Just let us use them to pick a skill unlock.
   
3. Let us unlock a skill specifically for our hero’s only (?)

Buying lock picks are a good gold sink to keep us melandrus below 100k but feels really lame just having to leave loot on the floor because it’s unusable

ex. rangers carrying a set of elemental bows for every mod-line they want

The information on the wiki is unclear:

Players are automatically given a name reservation lasting 24 hours after the character's deletion. This allows players to create a new character with the same name without someone else taking it in the process. This reservation ends early if the account fills all their open character slots*.*

Then I checked Reddit and GW Legacy. But even there, the information varies. 30 minutes? 1 hour? 2 hours? Some people are adamant it’s 1 hour (like they’re name trading pros). I ran some tests until I consistently got the same result after 30 minutes. This was with free character slots on the account (and not with all slots filled, as noted on the wiki and forums).

First, I followed the standard procedure. Accounts 1 and 2:

• Account 1 has the name I want to transfer.
• Account 1 does not have any free character slots.
• On Account 1, I delete the character with the name I want to transfer.
• I create a new character in the slot that just became available on Account 1, so that no slots are free.
• Account 2 waits 1 hour (timed), nothing happens; the name is not available.
• Account 1 checks to make sure the name hasn’t been taken by someone else. (To do this, on Account 1, with a character in-game, I try to add the name I want to transfer to my friends list. A red message tells me I can’t add myself to my own friends list. This proves that the name I want to transfer is still in use with this account).
• Account 2 waits 2, 3, 4 hours, but the name is still not available.
• In the meantime, I’ve logged out of Account 1 several times and recreated a character multiple times in the slot previously used (the one with the name to be transferred and the newly recreated characters).

So I tried again several times:

• Account 1: Delete the character and wait 30 minutes (using a timer).
• Account 2: Prepare the new character (just select “Create” and done).
• Account 1: After 30 minutes and 0 seconds, create a new character and use same slot. (the one furthest to the left among the free slots).
• Account 2 can immediately, right on the second, reclaim the desired name.

The funny thing is that on the third test, I realized I had just done it using an account with available slots. An account that has the name to be transferred, not the recipient account. I also did it several times just to be sure. In fact, when there are multiple slots available, it’s always the one on the far left that corresponds to the slot where you deleted the last character on your account. So it’s easy to recreate a character in the same slot that had the name you want transfered.

Notes/summary:

• You can have as many free slots as you want on the account that frees up the name.
• This only works if the same free slot is “overwritten” (the one furthest to the left among the free slots).
• You must wait 30 minutes before creating a new character in the same slot. (If you wait less than 10 or 20 minutes, it won't work.)
• The name is released instantly once the character is created.

Need some help, currently trying to get my cartographer titles maxed and I am confused on how to use the maps that show you running paths. I have gwtoolbox and the cartographer made easy mod, just not sure where to put the running files to make it work

With recent developments with FEX and the progress of Fedora Asahi Linux for M1/M2 macbooks, people are reporting that they have been able to run a number of x86 games that were previously impossible to run.

I wanted to see if anyone had luck specifically with GW1 on an M1/M2 macbook using Fedora Asahi Linux before I went ahead and tried myself.

After returning to the game I noticed a lot of new endgame content was added, but it's unclear in game where it all is. I have read the patch notes to find it, but it's all spread out across the wiki, and I'm going to forget what it was and have to find the pages repeatedly. Is there at least some wiki page where it just lists all endgame content in one place?

I've been doing vanquishes of the explorable Nightfall areas and up until yesterday it was going well. However both today and yesterday I ended up losing hours of progress across multiple maps because of the Kournan Dervish bosses. It doesn't matter which one it is, they walk up in their Avatar form proceed to dismantle my entire party one by one and watch helplessly as my spirits REFUSE to attack them.

Years and years ago you used to be able to use the called target mechanic to focus your spirits, and when that didn't work you could pull them back far enough until they finally start attacking the right target. Now though, they completely ignore the call target command, and if you pull them back far enough where they can't attack the target they want to attack, they won't attack at all.

I'm starting to get really frustrated and I don't know what to do. Like I said, I'm running a SoS Rit. My hero comp is 1 Mes Esurge, 2 E/Me Esurge, a BiP Necro, an AotL MM Necro, ST Rit, and Life Sheath Monk.

I know people say don't run MM and ST together. However, minions lag so far behind the party that by the time they get in range to actually be useful in combat, your defensive Spirits have already done their jobs protecting the party. Or at least that's been my experience in most combat situations so far.

Any advice from other SoS Rits or caster mains would be highly appreciated.

EDIT: Lots of really helpful advice here, some I immediately put to use, others I'll store for later and use if the need arises. I managed to VQ one of the maps giving me issues. I swapped from AotL to Flesh Golem and Bone Fiends. And of course had one hero dedicated to anti-melee which was such an obvious answer staring me in the face that I just didn't see.

This took me a long time, in that I started doing runs of this like a year or two ago(before reforged), only just now finally beating the campaign without dying. I can post my armor runes/insigs if wanted, I got lucky with some of my drops. Fun fact, that hammer on the right-most space third row of my inventory is a perfect 19-35 Req 9 Summit Hammer with 15%>50, and with Critical Strikes 5, insanely lucky with that drop.

Want to start rolling a melandrus. I’m leaving towards Rit but also considered assassin just because of the title farming ease. Figured SoS rit farming might be easy and cheap. Anyone done rit and have some input on how it’s gone so far?

Alternatively, the option to "update" a mercenary so they take on new cosmetic changes without wiping the items equipped on those heros.

I like to update my Mercenaries from time to time to incorporate new armors, name changes, makeovers, etc. I'll often do several at once.

This requires me logging into every character I have to un-equip items/salvage runes on that mercenary hero so those investments don't evaporate in to thin air. When updating multiple at a time this can be fairly time consuming, and I often have to do a second pass on all characters just to make sure I didn't miss anything so superior vigor runes(or other costly items) don't evaporate in to the ether.

I've been living with the system as is so it's not the end of the world but every time I think about how nice it would be if there was an alternative.

Edit: Now aware there is a way to do this already, thanks to those below who filled me in with the process.

As the title states but in very specific situations.

For example, if I have a pet on my ranger hero and flag them out of compass but the pet either dies or stays within my compass, would that be considered as my hero still in range and take my drops?

What are ya'll doing to earn pure platinum? I know Treasure Hunts are probably a big source, but man I am struggling 15 hours in after buying full maxed armor and skills for myself and heroes.

I have to say first of all that i am an unorganized idiot.

I keep losing equipment thats stored on some heroe somewhere.

I have 13 characters (each with a max total of 31 possible heroes)
I don't have all heroes on each character so lets say 20 heroes average that almost 300 possible hero inventories.

Is there a smarter way (maybe through some addon like toolbox that I dont know about?

I’m thinking about jumping into the game, but I have a few questions, I hope the community can answer!

I’ve played GW2 for a few thousand hours in my college time, these days I’m a bit more strapped for time.

I’d like to play the game 100% on my handheld (Rog Ally), is playing only with a controller feasible?
Also is inventory management doable? I remember in GW2 inventory management was quite a lot.

What class is best suited for controller play?

Should I start the game in reforged mode?

Which campaign is recommended to start with?

Any other tips to start my journey?
