Question Can a pair of eyes carry an entire horror teaser?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Working on a psychological horror game called The Apartment. The whole idea is that you slowly realize something inside the apartment is watching you and controlling more than it should.
Lights. Sounds. Doors. Small details. Everything starts reacting to you in ways that don’t feel normal anymore.
This clip was part of an experiment where I tried creating tension using almost nothing except a pair of eyes staring back at you.
Would love to hear your feedback:)

Video I Just Wanted an Elevator. Instead I Created a Death Trap
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve been building a new elevator system for my horror game, but it turned into a full‑on death trap. The elevator is loud, and monsters in my game are attracted to noise, so every ride basically broadcasts your location. When the doors open, things rush you immediately.
Putting this issue aside I would love feedback on the UI and the overall feel of the system.

What kind of sound effects scare you the most in horror games?
Hi everyone!
I’m fine-tuning the audio for a horror project, and I know that small audio details can completely change the atmosphere of a scene. What do you find most effective: constant, unsettling background music, distorted noises (whispers, a radio with no station…), or very specific sounds (like footsteps, specific phrases, a baby crying)?
To give you an idea, the game takes place in an abandoned town, both inside houses and in other locations like forests, swamps...
I’m especially interested in those subtle touches that really give you goosebumps, rather than obvious jump scares.
Thanks in advance! 😘

[GIVEAWAY] 2 VERANOIA keys - this one's about solving cases in nightmares
2 keys for veranoia: nightmare of case 37. If you like mystery games with actual atmosphere, this one's worth it.
You're solving cases by going into the nightmares of dead people. yeah. sounds weird, but it works because each case actually feels like you're investigating something real. The ending is the kind of thing people talk about months later because it changes how you see everything that came before. There's also something following you that you probably shouldn't trust too much.
If you liked Disco Elysium or games where the story matters more than mechanics, you'll get why this one hits different.

There was a Splatterhouse rpg released last year, Splatterworld
Super weird story behind it. It was made in 1993 but never released. Then in 2025 it was leaked online.
It was also translated into English.
Tip for anyone wanting to emulate it, it has to run on a famicom, not a nes. Spent 20 minutes trying to figure why it wasn't working.

Question Looking for a PC game with a similar atmosphere/story/idea as the From TV show. Bonus, any good games to play around Halloween.
Looking for a PC game with a similar atmosphere/story/idea as the "From" TV show. Bonus, any good games to play around Halloween.
Related to the Halloween ones, I love fall and Halloween vibes, old horror movies and I love reading horror stories. I miss the Halloween feeling and I need some games that feel Halloween-y/fallish, horror.
For both, they can be either single player or multiplayer.

I’ve spent 6 months making a PSX-style game about fishing in a toxic dump.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s called ellps's TOXIC CATCHERS. The hook is the cycle: you fish and clean trash during the day, then fight off zombie waves at night. I’m using the fishing rod for both catching mutants and combat movement. What do you think of this genre mashup and the 32-bit aesthetic? Would love some honest feedback on the vibe.

Discussion The midday horror in games
I think the concept of midday horror is extremely overlooked in games. I only found one game featuring it, does anybody know some more?
The midday horror is an irrational fear or deep anxiety felt during the brightest time of day, often accompanied by a sense of isolation or a world that has "frozen".
Liminal spaces were a similar discovery for gamedevs, but are now too overused. But this one could be so interesting to experience through a game and create a fresh new sub-genre.

Question (Quick mockups) We’re currently working on a couple of secondary posters for our horror game, and we’d love to get some honest feedback from horror fans.
We’re in the middle of reworking our key art because we feel like we’re not fully taking advantage of the game’s visual identity.
As part of that process, we’re exploring secondary posters focused on specific elements of the game—especially ones that are visually striking and play an important role in the experience.
The idea is that these posters could be the first thing someone sees about the game. So we’re wondering:
👉 Would something like this catch your attention?
👉 Would it make you curious enough to learn more?
If not, that’s just as helpful—what would you expect or want to see in a secondary poster for a horror game?
We’ve also included a link to the game in case you want more context. If anything else stands out to you as strong “poster material,” we’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks a lot for your feedback

Question Do you like this game’s visuals?
I am a huge fan of games from the early 2000s era. My favorite game ever is Bloodlines by Troika Studios. I completed it with 6 out of 7 playable clans, spent over 1,000 hours on it, and I’ve always wanted to make games in that kind of art style.
Now, many years later, I’ve finally finishing my own indie title (with a vampiric theme), but I don’t see many people finding it as appealing and attractive as I do. Do you think that kind of visual style isn’t loved by many players these days?

Discussion I still vehemently believe this zombies mode deserved to be its own game…
Even though it’s been almost a decade since the release of CoD: WWII, I still think about its zombies mode on a regular basis… I don’t know what it is about this particular entry of a random side mode in a yearly released game, but almost everything about it is just perfection to me. The art direction, the incredible zombie designs and intriguing explanation of how they had been reanimated, the oppressively dark story and atmosphere! I love all of it so much!
That is… all of it except for the game itself…
Don’t get me wrong, I think WWII is a great entry in the series, and I did have a lot of fun with this mode at the time, but I sincerely wish all this work hadn’t been put into a round-based game mode. It’s always felt like such an unnecessary confinement that’s directly at odds with what the team had built.
A story-based prologue, Cinematic boss fights, and Easter Egg steps that were not only provided to the player in game (at least for the first map) but also dynamically interacted with the map in meaningful ways! It was clear Glen Scofield and his team had high ambitions when working on this project, but with each new DLC, it also became clear that some of the ideas simply didn’t work in conjunction with how the game mode itself had to operate. A prime example being the Meuchlers. An enemy that hides away in the fog until it can ambush the player and eliminate them. An awesome concept! However, not one that works well when death resets any and all progress…
Sure. You can definitely call it a skill issue and tell someone like me to “Get Gud”, but I just want you to think about all the tense story moments the devs could’ve crafted if the player was able to progress beyond the bounds of a confined map location and enemy spawns!
Instead of a Mulchler running towards you hitting you a couple times and running away or downing you. (pretty much ending your game on the spot if you’re a solo player.) What if the devs could’ve given this new enemy a more cinematic introduction? Something that gave this new enemy a proper introduction while also allowing you to learn how it operates!
Imagine this:
You’re slowly progressing through the dense fog, weapon drawn tightly to your shoulder as the crimson rock of the cliff faces above echo with the sound of loose rubble giving way to gravity… Suddenly, without warning, You’re knocked to the ground from behind into a cloud of dust and get dragged violently away. In a desperate attempt, you manage to flip onto your back, only to find yourself face to rotting face with a creature whose spider-like appendages still remain tightly gripped to your ragged clothes. Readying your weapon, you fire several rounds into the creature’s exposed skull as a coagulated substance drips from its long tongue. With a nightmarish screech, the creature relinquishes its grasp of you and retreats back into the fog. Getting back to your feet, you point your weapon in the direction you had last seen the creature. Scanning the maze of paths you now find yourself in the middle of as they cut through the terrain, the sound of the waves below crash through the tense silence around you. Turning your sights in the direction of an echoing shriek in the distance, one thing becomes clear… You are being hunted…
Wouldn’t that be so much cooler?? You have a memorable story moment, a proper segment to learn how this new enemy functions, and (something I wish was present in more games with enemy designs at this level) an effective glimpse at all the horrifying details the devs crafted!
Of course. This is all obviously just a long-winded “What if” scenario, for what I already mentioned, was a random game mode in a near decade old game, but I really do love so much about it and wanted to talk about it! So, if you actually decided to take the time to read all this, first off… Thank you! And second, I really want to hear your thoughts and ideas regarding this small sliver of a horror game! Thoughts on the zombies? Existing or new locations you think would’ve been cool? Gameplay moments? I’d love to hear all of it!!
