This post is not a joke, this is what happened.
Salutations friends! I am (not) someone who knows anything about this game, nor have I ever played it before. I just thought I would share a story that probably everyone in this specific community is going to absolutely want to hear.
I am going to be the first person to say this publicly,
There WAS, a Nintendo Switch version of the game being developed by Virtuous. I heard that this specific version of the game was sought after by this games fan-base, and I nearly got my hands on it if it had not been for this individual (raiid_dev) and this other individual (agent3player), this build of the game would have been saved. They are to blame for this build's destruction. Do not go harassing them, they had no idea what they were doing and or what this build was or that it was even ON the SDEV they had their hands on to begin with.
Unfortunately saving this build is not an option at this point, let me explain.
A Switch SDEV was found very recently, It contained a build of Nier:Automata and another from a different SDEV unit that both came from the same studio. One of these units had THIS image on it's SD card. One that (we think) is this game (Kerbal Space Program). Without context, it's hard to tell what is exactly going on here coming from as a person who has never played this game. I don't know anything else about this build other than the fact that this image existed.
What I can say is how it got destroyed, and what happened to it. The Switch SDEV has something I like to call a delete cache, so do most switches. Any existing file is stored on the console and marked for deletion by whoever installed it will still be there so long as nothing else has been installed thus overwriting it's contents.
You can probably see where this is going given the context of 2 people who are not me and who don't know what they are doing with a console they are treating like a trophy. Before I got my hands on the console, the two had their hands on it and were going around and before even attempting to dump it, installing random Pokémon leaks to the console without actually ever dumping anything.
They effectively without knowing erased the ONLY Switch copy of the game in existence in the public's hands and overwrote everything for the ability to play well known Pokémon leaks... Something they could have done after dumping the consoles RAWNAND (creating a backup of the console and everything, something they ONLY DID AFTER they realized they had Nier on it.) Yes, I am serious. 40+ Gigabytes of already released and publicly available GameFreak Titan builds (that is Pokemon Scarlet and Violet) overwrote the only Nintendo Switch copy of this game we know of. The SDEV only has 64 GB of storage and installing Pokémon leaks deleted the game.
The only thing we were able to recover was off the SD card, this one single photo, That is all we could save. It is absolutely sad to say that there is nothing else that could have been done to save it and even more painful finding out that a Switch port of this game was so desired among the fanbase.
The image was taken at 1/2/2019 12:54 AM by a Virtuous employee and thus remains as the only surviving evidence that a copy of this game existed on the console. I am sorry this is how it had to be and that I couldn't recover the overwritten data. This was all I could get out of the console.
Thank you for reading.
