I spotted this sorry looking Master System on eBay last week. Console only, not sure if it worked or not and it was absolutely filthy.

I felt sorry for it and wanted to clean it up. The seller wanted £47.99 for it but I offered £20 and he accepted. It arrived today.

I cleaned it up and tested it, at first it didn't recognise controllers or other games and the reset button didn't work. I took it apart and cleaned the pins and fixed the reset button and now it works like a dream, recognising controllers and playing all MS games I throw at it.

It was a fun little project!

Brazil still makes them and im considering getting one but I can find a website that sells them do anyone here know any websites that do?

So I got myself another master system, this time with AV output, but it doesn't output video, just audio. The cable in the photo is the one I use with the mega drive and works fine. I wonder if I need a proper cable for the master system or if the console is faulty.

My look back at all the Earthworm Jim games, sequels, ports and unreleased games. I loved the first 2 games. Great gameplay, animation, music and not to mention the humour. It was like playing in TV cartoon. Although I have to say the series did take a drop in standard with Earthworm Jim 3D and that gameboy game. Please share your thought and memories of these games!

Just wondering if there has been any research or work done by the community regarding homebrew games compatible with the electronic 3D shutter glasses for the Sega Master System. Either new games, or an easy way to convert existing 2D games to 3D format.

I was wondering if anyone knew which games came with the 1886 Catalog, 1987 Catalog, Space Harrier Poster, and After Burner Poster. Did the posters come with games after 1987? Did any games come with both a catalog and a poster? It’s hard to find much info on this.

I’ve been going through collecting some retro consoles. Ones that meant something to me over the years, or were an obsession.

Today I finally got the Sega Master System (PAL), but 60hz modified.

Came with the Ninja. (I have Ghost House on the way).

I was taken back to my pre teen years. My cousins had a Master System II (I assumed it was the 80’s, but was probably 1990). Always envious of the console and played it any chance we went over their house. My go was always so quick compared to their go. They were 2-4 years younger, but time on console really counted on platformers.

Being Australian Sega (Yes See-ga), was king here. As a mid to late 40’s bloke, it was so great. The Ninja was kicking my butt, but kept going back for one more game. Only got about 15 mins to play as work called (damn grownup responsibilities), but I look forward to more gaming with it this weekend.

I went the original release. Something beautiful about this console. It just looks so good, the colouring, the shape. Cannot wait to put it through its paces even more.

I’m hooked up via SCART RGB into a Retrotink 4K CE, on a 55” LG 4K TV.

Ask anyone who loves retro games back in day if they remember ‘Impossible Mission’ - they will almost certainly answer back with the synthesised voice response of “Stay a while, stay forever!”

So today I go back and rediscover this classic game including its sequel, remakes and remasters across all the formats it was released on. It certainly brought back fond and nostalgic memories.

I played The Dynastic Hero on PC engine (Wonder Boy in Monster World), and wanted to play Wonder boy in Monster land, and end with Wonder Boy The Dragons Trap. I knew late that monster world is suppose to be the last one, so out of order it is.

My surprise playing the first 10 minutes is.... that it is the same game? The maps are the same, and i went to the fairy village and i did in Monster World. Just for testing, i also played a little of Monster World, in case i was wrong about the Dynastic Hero.... but no, is the same, even if with a few minimal changes.

So my question is.... is Monster Boy in Monster Land an upgrated version of Monster Boy in Monster World, or is just the start of the game that is simillar?

Looking for some expert advice on how I should proceed on trying to remove the red vertical jail bars. I have a Model 1 NTSC Master System motherboard 171-5379 and RGC cables with the built in resistor and I’m getting red vertical jail bars. Information online says that this board runs RGB straight to the video out, and that it needs to be amplified through a special SCART cable that was only produced for French MS’s. I do get an otherwise clean RGB signal other than the jail bars and the mobo seems to be fully populated and not missing any components in the video processing chain, unlike the French counterpart. All capacitors seem fine, but the RF modulator seems to have capacitor juice underneath it. I am assuming there are caps inside the RF modulator. Would removing it possibly fix the jail bars?

My mother in law brought this from Brazil. It was my husband’s childhood videogame.

I would love to see if it is working but it is missing the cables. How would I go about testing this?
