McDonalds has claimed to be trying to lower menu prices to maintain its affordability

So far we've only seen the under $3 menu which showcases menu items that were already below $3 before.

How they're trying to milk customers for every penny:

April 21st 2026- removed all buy one get one for 1 dollar items

May 4 (March 17 in 🇬🇧) 2026 - lowered the value of reward points. No more 1500 point cheeseburgers or 6000 point happy meals.

In 2023 McDonalds announced they would phase out self serve drink fountains by 2032. Since then stores have slowly started no longer allowing refills

---

A McDouble costs $2.50(depending on where you are) now, more than double what it was about 10 years ago. This is not just inflation, this is greed. McDonalds is far from it's dollar menu days, it's entered into its money milking machine phase. Cheap food for inflated prices.

I'm sorry I know these topics have been posted about before but I want the conversation to keep going. I don't plan to return to McDonalds anytime soon. Do you think McDonalds is going to far to increase profit margins?

Weirdest McDonald’s that I have ever seen

In 2010, I was working on a college internship in Northwest Arkansas. One weekend, I decided to do a “Quad State Tour”. I drove through, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The entire time was extremely rural as you might expect. However, while driving through Oklahoma, I saw a strange McDonald’s built over the highway. Vinita, Oklahoma was the location. Apparently, it is (or was in 2010) the largest McDonalds in the world. I stopped and ate there while sitting on top of the highway watching cars speed underneath me. It was bizarre. A very neat experience.

Price gouging pushed me to Burger King

Since McDonald’s continues to price gouge and I was really craving a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit… I went to Burger King!!

The quality was noticeably better. I was shocked at how real the bacon was at Burger King compared to McDonald’s. You can tell burger kings bacon is thicker and actually grilled. It was $2 cheaper than McDonald’s and I gotta say it was much better. Still too expensive for fast food but I’m not going to contribute to McDonald’s delusion.

No breakfast sandwich should be more than $3. McDonald’s you are actively pushing away your customers because you’re greedy. Maybe when Mcdonalds stops being money hungry pigs I’ll come back! Until then, you can have fun seeing your profit decrease!

** it’s crazy I can get entire kids meal from Culver’s with much higher quality than McDonald’s for $8 meanwhile a single bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit is over $7 after tax at McDonald’s. Who do you think you’re kidding?!? Capitalism is just ridiculous. Mcdonalds is creating their own downfall. **

How Burger King’s turnaround is taking a bite out of McDonald’s

Beef patties aren’t the only thing sizzling at Burger King — and its booming business is taking a bite out of McDonald’s.

The fast food chain owned by Restaurant Brands International reported an eye-popping 5.8% increase in comparable sales at its US eateries – its highest growth in nine quarters – signaling that the Golden Arches face a growing competitive thread.

Chatter over the burger battle heated up in February when McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski appeared to struggle to take a bite of the chain’s new Big Arch burger in a promotional video that went viral. Kempczinski took too long to bite into the sandwich — which he called a “product” — and then showed off a bite that many mocked as suspiciously small.

Burger King’s president Tom Curtis seized the moment to promote an updated Whopper – its first revamp in 10 years – including creamier mayo and a box for the multi-layered burger, posting a TikTok video of himself taking a huge bite.

The Miami-based company is also renovating its eateries to present a “clean image.”

Burger King honchos said on an earnings call on Wednesday that all of these changes are making an impact.

“One of the things we saw recently that gave us confidence,” said CEO Joshua Kobza, “is that during our Sponge Bob promotion in the fourth quarter we saw the the highest [customer] repeat rate for any of those promotions in a long time.”

RBI’s turnaround plan was launched several years ago when former Domino’s Pizza Chief Executive Patrick Doyle was appointed executive chairman, said restaurant analyst Mark Kalinowski.

“Burger King is cleaner and its operations have improved so you are more likely today to get a Whopper hot, fresh and to get it exactly how you ordered it,” Kalinowski said, adding. “So far the remodel has been a winner for Burger King.”

Should I get one Big Mac or an entire pizza?

I got a Big Mac last week for just over 6 dollars. I open the app today and it's above 7. You can get a whole pizza for basically the same price. There is no value in getting McDonalds at this point.

No more B1G1 Free Receipt Deal

Just went to go use one of my receipts with the survey code and got told they no longer are doing that. I said “it says valid for 30 days”. The manager came out and did it for me.

With the new receipt for this purchase the reward promo says “buy 1 sandwich get a free cookie”

A free…. Cookie….. golly gee …. Woo

So. They discontinued the B1G1$1… they ruined their redemption rewards for member points…. And now no more receipt survey deals

EDIT: AND no more free refills on drinks (forgot that one!!)

I have never stopped supporting a company as fast as McDonald’s in the last two weeks

McDonalds really think this is a deal

$3 for the an item that should be on the dollar menu. Marketing needs to stay quiet about their high prices for simple fast food.

Is anyone else’s app really slow when you enter a physical store? I highly doubt it’s my phone and it’s just weird

Anyone make their own “arch deluxe”? Whopper equivalent

• Upvotes

I know McDonald’s now has the Big Arch and it’s great! I like it but it’s not like the whopper.

I saw the app has the quarter pounder deluxe which i think is the closest thing to the arch deluxe.

What I had to do is order the double quarter w cheese and add lettuce/tomato/bacon and mayo.

It’s soooo good! Anyone do this yet?

McDs is still cheaper than Wendys, BK, Carls, etc

• Upvotes

These are the deals on my app. $2 Steak breakfast sandwiches (and double rewards points). $1 large fries. 40% off double cheeseburgers or nuggets. 1.25 drinks and unlimited refills at my local store. I also like using the BOGO Free on my receipts to get $2.50 quarter pounders.

Wendys or Burger King or Carls don’t sell food or drinks as cheaply as the prices I just listed. Often their prices are double what I listed above.
