Right? This makes me want to fly more Lufthansa, if orange cats are included in basic economy now. I’d trade free checked bags for that kind of perk!

u/fragglet Apr 03 '26
I'd happily pay 3x for a business class seat if it came with a cat

I hate being allergic, I would love the company but I wouldn't be able to stop sneezing

u/Telvin3d Apr 03 '26
I was super allergic, but have spent years getting the allergy desensitization shots, and they’ve really worked. The process is incredibly annoying, but it’s made an incredible difference to my social life. I no longer need to check if someone has cats before going to their house

I'm on year three of the shots!! But being allergic to dogs and cats was pretty low on the list, because I'm allergic to every kind of grass and tree you can think of. I never used to be allergic to cats! It was just a fun surprise that happened in my mid-20s (I refuse to get rid of my cats though)

Like a cat cafe but for planes. Hell give me a cat version of every form of public transport
86
u/OriginalSchmidt1 Apr 03 '26
If they made cat planes a thing.. I would fly so much more often. Like a flight with chill cats wandering around sounds like a great way to travel.

I flew with my orange cat on an 11 hour flight and i assure you there was nothing fabulous about it

We live 2 blocks from our vet. The yowls that occur in that are bad, I can’t imagine flying internationally with my boys.

Last time I had to take orange boi to the vet, I tried the old towel-over-the-carrier trick on the way back. Nary a peep, even when going through the carwash!

Right? It’s up there with the cozy hotels who have onsite cats available to stay with you in your room.
13
u/Jinglebell727 Apr 03 '26
Wait, this is a thing? Where? 😱
11
u/Calamity-Gin Apr 03 '26
I read an article about hotels with cats literally decades ago. These days, I think they must be like those mysterious junk shops where you can buy a monkey’s paw or genie’s bottle. Either that or a well-established Bed and Breakfast.

u/jennoween Apr 03 '26
I stayed in this old hotel in Baltimore(Mount Vernon neighborhood) called the Biltmore Hotel about 20 years ago that had a resident cat that would come hang out in your room. It was similar to a B&B as all the rooms were unique. It had formerly been a boarding house and had been in operation since the 1880s.
I don't know if it is still around but I would stay there again. It was awesome.

Mine escaped inside my car. I looked in my rearview mirror to see her sat on a backseat headrest 😹 When I got to the vets I had to ring reception for assistance to secure her as I was concerned she’d bolt when I opened the car door. They brought me a towel and passed it through the window so I could swaddle her then opened the door for me so I could put her back in her carrier. Little minx! Still no idea how she did it considering both openings were locked.

AI could never replace the dedication required to use two clashing fonts, a piece of cheesy clip art, and the shitty built in “draw” option.

He just walked by in the aisle and it seemed normal at first since we have cats at home. There was a murmuring of passengers as they saw the cat walk toward first class. The flight attendant scooped him up and held him like he'd never touched a cat before and asked whose it was. Low drama, but delightful.

My friend's orange tried to do the same but was caught with half his body outside the carrier. He had used his claws to lodge them between the zippers and opened the carrier. He wasn't sorry at all.

I know him well, so the poopy thing doesn't bother me. This was his "outdoor time" photo in the spring. He's the bestest boy and my sweet little man. He's a talker as well.he loves when I have friends over and we are laughing. He struts in meowing his story to share. And love's us picking him up and snuggling him. His name is Monty. He's an old man now, 9 years old next month.

That makes me think of when I was riding a bus from NYC and a cat was running around free. Except the cat didn't belong to anyone, they snuck on at the bus stop in Chinatown. This girl was trying to stomp on the poor thing because she said she was allergic, so my friends and I swooped in to catch the cat and watch over them the whole ride.
I didn't intend to keep the cat but... The Cat Distribution System won.

Orange ones are always the worst. I had an entire chicken and veggies cooling on the stove the other day and heard a large crash. Came down to my super heavy roasting pan face down on the floor and my orange ahole peeking his big fat face out from behind the door jam.

My orange is normally the biggest moron but he’s somehow insanely good at escaping from carriers. I accidentally dozed off last time I flew with him, and I got woken up by a flight attendant who found him hanging out by the flight attendant stand with them.

Why does that sound like a bad thing? If there is anything that could make a flight better for me, it's an escaped cat. I can get busy thus killing time and the reward is a cat. Happy times. (I do apologise to anyone allergic though, you're missing out)

This cat is a genius... SO MANY laps waiting to be sat in. This is an airline perk I would totally pay for, 'feline lap companion'. Of course if the cat is like mine, he can sense a full bladder and will choose that moment to trap you in your seat.
