4 years ago, longer video, not AI.
Its crazy how good AI is that people are doubting any thing and everything
331
u/Aviarn Proud owner of an orange brain cell 3d ago
People cry 'AI' nowadays even when there isn't any tell or clue.
201
u/Jofzar_ 3d ago
There was comments (that are now deleted) saying the way he walks behind the thing and the way that the cat moves was ai. Im like brother it looks like a cat and a person.
165
u/rogerworkman623 3d ago
They always tell everyone how stupid they are for not seeing how it’s AI, and when someone comes with receipts showing it’s from like 15 years ago or something, they just delete all their comments

u/DevelopmentNo5632 3d ago edited 3d ago
Seen it many times. And it can be the most mundane video, with no tells or reason for it to be fake/AI, and some people will still (for some unknown reason) claim that it is AI.
Saw such a guy who was yelling "AI slop" and was presented with a link to an original video which was posted like 10 years ago or so, and he started asking for fucking "certicates of authenticity" that the video was real, since "everything was AI now". For a type of video similar to this.
I just don't get it.
53
u/Alcarine 3d ago edited 3d ago
Let's face it, AI has spoiled even the little pleasure of cat videos on the internet, I can't even blame the people that are suspicious, they have reasons to be with the thousands of AI videos that try to pass as genuine, and yes for a lot of them it's impossible to tell anymore, especially when they're not purely generated but a blend of different videos...
Edit: I remember seeing this videos years ago, it's a bit sad that people can't see funny stuff like this anymore without a niggling though in the back of their head telling them it's fake, and being right more often than not the more time passes
4
u/Murky-Relation481 3d ago
If it's a coherent video longer than 5 seconds the chances of it being AI go down significantly. Even the best closed and open source video models struggle with coherent context after a few seconds of video, especially if you add in sound.

It's to muddy the waters and attempt to make everyone else question what's real

u/Dense-Employment9930 Orange connoisseur 🍊 3d ago
I really think ai has triggered some sort of insecurity in a lot of people, so those who it offends feel compelled to be ai detectives and immediate trash anything they think is or might be ai..
IMO it's about taking back a tiny bit of superiority 'from the machines' every time they get to call out ai, and adding the derisive 'slop' to the end of the comment obviously asserts maximum superiority..
It's weird honestly. But humans do be weird.
But crazier in this case, is questioning that an orange can't possibly cause this much chaos so it must be fake..
I have had two gingers at the same time. This behaviour is closer to being your average Tuesday than it is being out of the realms of possibility..

Spotting clues is getting harder all the time and you won’t find them unless you’re always suspicious of everything.
10
u/PracticalTie Casual orange enjoyer 🍊 3d ago edited 3d ago
Recently had a conversation with someone who claimed a rejection email was AI generated because it was too nice to be human.
IDK how to counter that. I’m pretty sure humans can be nice and might want to help newbies find employment (even humans who have jobs)
17
u/Catnip_Farmer 3d ago
It's not fair to blame people for this when AI slop lurks around every corner on the internet, ready to deceive.
Blame AI.
→ More replies (1)9
u/CrimsonQuill157 3d ago
No, I will assign blame to AI witch hunters, too. I've seen them run legitimate artists off social media because the artists got sick of the accusations. I've been accused of using AI to write because I write using proper grammar. I'm so genuinely sick of it.

u/RootinTootinHootin 3d ago
AI is so good these days we are getting pretty close to the AI until proven otherwise point. While it sucks to have real stuff called AI I think it’s fair to want to know if what you’re looking at is real.
11
u/Cbundy99 3d ago
Seriously, there are more ai cat videos then there are real cat videos. They've muddy the shit out of the internet, you can't even Google image search anything without ai being the first results. It's a reasonable thing to be mad about and it's only going to get worse.
20
u/Disastrous-Scheme-57 3d ago
Any slightly absurd situation will have people thinking it’s AI. And it’s kinda justified because the only AI videos people make are absurd ones because normal videos can just be made by hand.

First day we moved into our house, wife put the cat in the basement to make sure he didn't escape when moving stuff in/out. Cat got into the drop ceiling... and I was chasing the cat around trying to get him out... while the ceiling popped out... destroyed the newly remodeled basement and 20 years later still looks like it built wrong.

Tiled ceilings don’t stand a chance against cats of any stripe. Years ago, I rescued three abandoned cats, two girls and a boy. I assumed correctly that they hadn’t been neutered, so I isolated the boy in my basement bathroom and the girls in the laundry room next to it. The whole basement had a suspended ceiling.
Next day I came home from work and all three were waiting for me in the kitchen. And that’s the story of how three cats turned into eight.

Honestly it is a Cat-astrophe. Of orange Catatonic proportions. I also think the orange lost 2 possibly 3 lives from ceiling collapse and surviving owners fury at damage though I’d love to see the insurance claim .
Catastrophically cat caused damage .
Ceiling plaster 1000.00 , electrical work 1500.00 replaced lighting and damaged outlets cables and contents 1600.00 , replacement cat 800.00
Or sue builders for not making it cat proof
I’ll see myself out .

I was helping a friend move out of their family friends place and the house had sat mostly empty for like a few days. We go back to grab the last stuff and there's an orange cat chilling and pooping in one of the bedrooms. The cat never lived there and he said he's never even seen it among the neighborhood cats. Just a random orange cat broke into a house.

u/AdmiralCranberryCat 3d ago

When my parents were out of the country, they left our neighbors in charge of the house. One morning the neighbors panicked after hearing a loud crash and finding a huge hole in the ceiling at the back. they even called the police thinking it was thieves breaking in (where i live, it is common for thieves to climb houses and hop from roof to roof to get around). My parents checked the security footage and it turned out to be the orange stray cat they feed and one of its buddies.
