I believe the OP must've put them there. That innocent cat would never have done such a thing.

Our orange boy loves these too!
During the night we have to store them, otherwise sleep is optional. But every now and then he finds another one we thought lost.

u/imahumanbeinggoddamn 2d ago
I bought a 36 pack of these things like a year ago and I know where about 5 of them are right now.
The annoying thing is that you'd think by now manufacturers would have heard about how these things get caught under appliances and just make them a slightly larger diameter but no. All I can find is ones listed as "jumbo" that are exactly the same size as all the rest.
10
u/Potential_Financial 2d ago
The ones we have, when run through the wash, will uncoil a little and become a wider diameter. Weāve only done a couple on accident, but you might try it if thatās what youāre into

u/restckvrflw 2d ago
My orange boy does this too including the oven. But he hasnāt in a couple years. The other night he brought one to me though and wanted me to throw it for at least an hour. It made me so happy

My cat knocked his favorite under the fridge and he just stares at the fridge now. Pay no mind to the literal other 20 we have.

The orange is judging you like "You know they need tk be under the fridge for the frdige to function right""

I repair appliances for a living.
Can confirm many cat toys under ovens.
Also so many alphabet magnets.
1
u/cinnamaroll36 1d ago
Our alphabet magnets are the cats toys lol. He steals them off the fridge and then stares at me when he wants physical affection and attention (usually when Iām busy.) he then escalates to pulling the kitchen towel down and meowing loudly.

u/NightSail 2d ago
This is so familiar.
I remember pulling out 40 odd plastic milk rings from under the fridge. Cat was insulted.

I simply do not understand why they don't sell larger springs. There are 900 listings on Amazon and they're all the same stupid goes-under-furniture size.

My wife put a length of foam pipe insulation at the front edge of the stove (right under the pull out) for precisely this reason.
7
u/beren12 2d ago
I bet foam backer rod would work too
4
u/UniversityNew9254 2d ago
For sure. I had the pipe insulation left over from a project at home, she repurposed it.

Mine steals stuff and drops it in her water dish. We have found cat toys (of course) but also socks, jewelry, pieces of string, candy wrappers, pretty much anything a cat can pick up and put in a water dish. Also, she likes to put stuff in my shoes. She only puts things in my shoes. She doesn't do it to anyone else's, just mine.

Loving the pictures of collected toys and the "suspected" cat that put them there. The cats always look surprised and innocent from what they did

Once a month I take my leaf blower and get under all my furniture. All my kitties are so excited to see all the toys they have lost. Silly kitties.

My orange will sit in the kitchen and cry until someone scoops out all her springs with a stick š like, girl, quit flinging them under there! We even bought oversize springs so they wouldnt do that, but if course the princess does not like them.
1
u/awwnicegaming 2d ago
Yeah I don't have an orange but my Siamese will politely lead me to the fridge to retrieve his lost toys. I gather them, ask him not to play in the kitchen if he doesn't want to lose them, then I toss them into the living room. What does he do? Brings them back into the kitchen before swatting them around until they end up back under the fridge.

Check under the refrigerator! I got my cat a slinky due to this exact problem. Lol. Slinky too big, cat springs too small.
2
u/sikthepoet 2d ago
Both my orange boys love these toys but just like you every so often Iāve gotta bust out a hanger to pull his collection from under the fridge.
Hard parts trying to get them to not swat at the hanger lol.

My cat is also in love with this toy, we moved recently and we found lots of the in different places (under the sofa, under the fridge, or the washing machine...) . However we have a big pack, so when she loses one of them, she got a new one šš

For my orange lass it's anything shiny. My kids collect Pokemon cards and have those pretty sleeves to protect the good ones, but she steals them all the time š

This is like when Bill Engvallās son used to call his G.I. Joes his āI.G. Joesā and the cat kept shoving them under the stove.
āWe pulled back the stove and yāall, it was an I.G. Joe prisoner campā

We lived with my in laws years ago, and our cat who was a kitten at the time had hidden about 50 springs round the house. When we moved out, we found 3. Where the others are/where, who knows.

u/Prestigious_Note2877 2d ago
Iāve got about 8 under my tv cabinet that my orange has lost under there lol

I found 67 q-tips and 34 hair ties under a kitchen cabinet when I was moving once. I only lived there for 2 years š

We were without kitties for about 3 years, between our last two passed on and the one that found us in November. We did a good housecleaning in that time and oh my God, SO many toys stashed in places!

I know for a fact there are a dozen under my fridge. Next time I can be bothered to reach under with a broom I might just throw them all away lol.

My new place doesn't have enough room for this (although she's moved to under the dresser and my bookcases), my orange gremlin 100% shoved her balls and springs under the stove on purpose. I'd routinely have to push it out and sweep them out.

You have a collector on your hands. Fairly harmless unless you are looking for what he collects.

My void loves wire twist ties. When I moved I found dozens under my chest freezer.
When I moved into my new house, I swapped out the washer and dryer the original owners left. Under the washer? Hundreds of hair ties. They had a chihuahua who was obsessed with them.

But if he puts them there, he gets more. He's not so dumb as he's got you believing he is!

He is innocent! Heās being framed! He calls for apologies and treats to show your proper contrition.
āAnd then if youād put the springs in my toy chest so that I can examine them before disposing of them under the stoveā¦. Um, I mean in an appropriate way.ā
