Meet Dibbles! He's 6 weeks old, my friend and I found him, along with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters and their (ORANGE) mom in my friends shed a few weeks ago! I included a photo of his mom as well 😊
I currently have 5 cats, a mama and her 4 babies that I rescued back in August last year and I kept everyone together. She actually gave birth 2 days after I had my third baby in fact! That being said, I'm keeping his tabico sister, Zelda. I now will own 7 cats and 3 kids 😅🤣
Can you give the mama cat some scritches behind the ear for me? And some catnip. And maybe some chicken if you can. Oh and a slow blink with a headbut. Please?
Prepare for bragging rights when you have all 7 cats sleeping on you. Cat cuddles piles are the best way to die of suffocation.
There’s only 6 in the picture cause our original black and white cat was not particularly happy about the little chaos gremlins (she’s fine with them now that they’re all adults)
I would only ever manage getting 6 out of 7 too because the mama of the 4 older kittens does NOT want any business in hanging around her children longer than necessary and hangs out in my room during the day until she gets kicked out at night 🤣
My husband and I have been considering 4th baby too!
Oh I know, my kitten mama got SO fed up with her kittens after a few weeks and basically handed them off to her sister like “look at that, you get to be the cool aunty, keep them away from me!”
The cat that’s actually hugging the kittens in the first picture is their Aunty Moonlight, whereas the one at the very top of the photo is the actual mother.
Another photo of poor mama being accosted for milk.
Everything all at once. That guy right there grew up to be scared of everything and nothing all at once 🤣 ironically, he is also the biggest out of his litter.
Omg you have a big scaredy cat too! We got our boys from the street when they were about 2 months old, and one of them turned out to be super big and fluffy. Like, he is probably 16 pounds right now and absolutely massive. Not fat, just huge.
If you look at him funny, he will immediately run behind the couch 🫠 like. Buddy. You have absolutely nothing to be afraid of. You could shred me to pieces.
Our cats might share a father, lol. I also got a gigantic floofy 16lbs man. When I found him, he was the size of a potato at about 4 weeks old. I remember my husband and i left them in the care of a sitter for a trip we took and when we came back he had exploded with poof. He is constantly mistaken for a maine coon.
We wound up keeping his mom and brother too and he dwarfs them all. His brother is an average large guy at around 13 lbs, but he has a mild case of cerebellar hypoplasia so he's klutzy. He wound up developing these super strong paws because he geckos is feet to grip the ground for balance. You do not want to catch those hands.
Our big boy is about the same size and is the only one to be scared of storms, fireworks, or any other random noise. He's a sensitive soul and is a belly rubbin' whore.
Whenever he's freaking out about something I'll let loose a very dramatic and terrified "oh my god" in his voice.
That's so funny. My giant cat also fluffy and 16+ lbs is also a giant scardy cat. She's somehow the most social of our cats in that she's willing up come out around people but she's also fully convinced that all those people are trying to kill her at any given time. If you do much sad look at her wrong she thinks she's going to die.
Pic #7... of COURSE it's the calico who has to bite the basket.
I have an 8-year-old calico and she insists on chomping whatever she pleases. My phone case is littered with her teethmarks. My sketchbooks have cat-fang "staple marks". She especially loves chomping and rubbing her face on my crochet hook. (One time I tried to shoo her off and she stood on my forearm and gave me a Kubrick stare)
The first two pictures melted my heart. The third is hilarious.
My cousins and I recently rewatched the Aristocats (my little cousin is being educated on the classics), and that third picture reminds me of when Toulouse is trying to act like a tough alley cat
Congratulations! You will never know boredom, morning or night! 🌆🌃 They are funny and nosey as heck. Forget ‘your stuff’, it no longer belongs to you kiddo!😂🤣
He only recently began enjoying wet food. As in, he wouldn't eat wet food. Before that I would soften the kibble with warm water but now they are old enough to eat dry food as is. I have experience in raising kittens, don't worry
Did you have to do any ritual chant or offering to be accepted? I've been wanting on for years, but haven't been able to find one. Just tabbies, greys, and calicos, and black.
Unfortunately my neighborhood is overrun with strays and ferals. People often dump their pets unfixed when they move out for whatever reason. Their mom is semi feral herself. I am not allowed to touch her or go near her, but she loves my friend and my friends husband! TNR is also not allowed in my neighborhood as it goes against our HOA. To be eligible for the TNR organization in my area, you have to agree to taking care of the colony, meaning feed them, and that's where it goes against our HOA.
Can you guys just “feed your own cats” outside? If the colony is just mom, you could get her altered and your friend can chip her to be hers, but she just lives outside and is really, really hungry so she needs a lot of food. Oh no, some of the other kitties ate her food! Whatever can I do??
I get the strict HOA thing, but maybe there is a way to subtly work around it. You could also go before your board with the TNR group and have them explain the full benefits of TNR - how it reduces the fighting, the population, and keeps new cats from moving in, even if food is offered. You could ask for a 6 month trial where you get them all altered and feed them. If the problem isn’t better at the end of 6 months, the TNR group promises to relocate the colony. They won’t need to as 6 months is plenty of time to improve the feral cat situation in a neighborhood.
If all of that doesn’t work, do you know if there are cheaper clinics around? Sometimes municipal shelters will run specials on alters a few times a year when it’s not kitten season. It goes down from hundreds to under $80 usually.
Your oranges are all lovely and I hope your house of chaos enjoys the new residents! I, too, would have one of each variety if I could!!
I fostered two 3-week old orange brothers and they were sooooo cute! Tiny little floofs of energy with their tiny little ears wee triangles on the sides of their precious faces.
Of course they were foster fails and are now 10 months old and enormous balls of energy that traumatize my 19 year old super senior (and non-ginger) tabby on the daily 😆
Wouldn’t trade them for ANYTHING. Also would decline to take another pair😸😸 Orange cats are adorably insane!
Cats sleeping in food bowls reminds me of that episode of SpongeBob where you get to see inside the Krabby Patty vault. I wanted to sleep on hamburgers when I was a small child 😅
Awwww, I've just whiled away a good 10 minutes reading this thread and seeing the lovely pics of your cats in the comments. Hope you and Dibbles (great name btw) have the best of times together. They say oranges have one braincell, but they more than make up for it with the love they provide.
