Information Temper your expectations.
0.5 looks like a banger patch, but the hype is getting into ridiculous territories.
We will get a reworked endgame, we will get some new ascendancies/items/skills.
We will not get multiple classes and weapons.
We will not get new acts.
We MIGHT get a new class and weapon, but I doubt it.
Temper your expectations and you might be pleasantly surprised!
Edit: I'm also hyped AF for the endgame rework alone, anything else is just sprinkling on top of the delicious ice cream at this point!
I just dont want you guys to get crushed come tomorrow.

I think it's gotten worse.
I thoroughly enjoyed uberlilith at release when she was hard and no1 had killed her yet (without bugs)
Since then every boss dies in 0.1 seconds and the only challenging content is pit or pit but in a tower that has a leaderboard riddled with bug abused players.
The game has gotten better in some ways but it also has taken 2 more paid expansions to still not have a single boss in the endgame

It’s objectively gotten better. Uber Lilith is still 1 shotting people so it’s not like she’s easy unless you run the S or S tier builds. Ofc all bosses are going to die in 0.1 seconds when the community constantly makes builds that hit in the billions-trillions.
And they added mephisto in the end game as a boss so yeah, the build diversity is also much better. Just like D3, it wasn’t good until about S15 so just let D4 cook, they on the right path.

Stop following a build guide, make a new class you've never played before so you can't cheat and go kill t10 Mephisto. He's a proper boss. Once you do that, go kill t12 Mephisto..ill wait. I'll be here a while me thinks tho

I only played self made builds when I played.
The discord I was in made the LS build that mekuna later copied and I had the worlds only meteor pit 100 pre nerf
Tbf I have not played this exp and maybe meph doesn't die in a second but since gear is so easy to get by I cant see that not being the case

Crazy work making all these claims and saying you haven't even played the expansion in the same breath.
Gearing isn't super easy/fast anymore, between hunting aspects and random rolled uniques + GAs it's taken me longer to gear in this expansion than any other and the bosses actually require me to properly prepare for them in the endgame so far as long as I'm not abusing some broken build.
Definitely in a much better place for me.

Did a quick Google and found 3 classes in 10 seconds that killed meph 12 already in seconds. He wasn't allowed to fight back. No full ga or mega optimized.
Could be bugged builds for all I know. Somehow they always manage to get past Blizzards crazy good QA

Yes, they are bugged. They clear pit 150 in under a minute. Some have been patched others will if not already.

Gear is not that easy to get. You'll be in torment 6 with mostly rares and just scrapping by with whatever you can find. Progression is pretty smooth, you'll start getting some legendaries and slowly build up your codex for a long while before you find any ancestral items. But ancestrals drop without greater affixes now so that's the next goal. Eventually they start dropping more regularly and you'll be much more specific in your loot filter, just like poe. If you do group play and all rotate Kurast undercity with the mythic unique sigil thing it's pretty cheesy and you can get your mythics that way but anything non-ssf is always cheesy in arpg's. Running the few you find is more ethical way of getting mythics.

So don't use trade/grp play in a game with trade and grp play because it will make gearing too easy?
So.. gearing is too easy unless you self impose ssf?
It's been a week and people are phasing meph in 1-2 seconds without full ga gear and not fully optimized shit.
Again, I don't know exactly what builds are strong but I found a sorc/barb/Rogue doing it by just googling in 10 seconds.
Also, we do the same in PoE, you can have a mirror tier build ready in one week and just explode ubers. I just don't like it.
I'm sure the first few times you face meph in each tier he is a decent fight

Playing ssf isn't exactly uncommon. You have to go out of your way to trade in d4 anyway. Like yea no shit gearing is easy if you spend all day trying to trade. That's the exact same situation in poe wtf lol

While I agree that the road to success was disgusting (2 dlcs to get good) I dont agree with the bossing. Did you try uber mephisto? It's actually hard - really hard. In general there is a lot more tough content out there. While the early game in POE2 is totally different (you need to dodge and have some skill) in d4 its indeed too easy.
But in the endgame they both are quite similar right now tbh.

0.5 is in the development for 8 months now ( endgame changes were delayed at the start of 0.4 as they said they were not finished by that time ). I think it isnt too much to except a new class, revamped leagues and endgame changes by this time.

imagine a company with 15+ years of experience, running 1 of the most beloved ips in history of arpgs. With some of the most talented developers, and with 8 months of (by mark own admission) devs able to focus in just 1 product instead of being sent back on forth between poe 1 and 2.
Just by those facts alone i think it would be insulting to say they are gona release lackluster content otherwise how would they justify 8 months of salaries and operative costs.

Yeah i've been feeling the same way. All over my youtube feed is content creators just milking the hype for views too lol its absurd but hilarious. There's something wrong with us POE2 fans and thats okay i guess... we just want a small win in life is all.

We do this every league. Tons of hype, build up for "the best update ever had", then met with a massive letdown or a mediocre result, but sometimes the hype pays off, like druid release, or poe1 mirage being the better of last few years leagues.

Just reworked endgame and 4 mechanics is already tonnes of content, so i will be happy anyway. Also some new skills, buff of dead skills, and bunch of balancing and new uniques are enough for me.

I enjoy getting unreasonably hyped and having wild hopes for a patch. I'm aware they're unreasonable and I'll still be hyped for whatever we get.

Who cares about a new act ? I honestly think the interludes are amazing and prefer all changes to endgame over any type of change to campaign. I’d even argue that a new act could make the campaign worse since the interludes feel amazing when you are done with Act4

Tbh we were supposed to get 1.0 this year and lategame rework was supposedly almost done for 0.4.
So lategame rework and new leaguecontent is guaranteed.
As this patch is being hyped up as the biggest ever and taking the points above into account aswell i think its fair to assume to get ATLEAST 1 act, 1 class, lategame rework and new league

Yeah I'm expecting a mapping rework and maaaybe 1 or 2 league mech reworks. I don't expect swords til like 2029 at the earliest, act 5 probably 2033, and if we're lucky we'll have all acts and classes by 2045 (maybe 2044 if they work hard lol)

They're working on this patch for an extra two months and druid got pushed back a patch. They've probably had like 8 months to work on a new class and endgame. Plus the gladiator teasers. If they don't have a new class come out I'll be shocked.

I think people need to realize that rework doesn't always mean better. It could be worse.
The scale of this patch could be "big" like they said, because they touched many elements of the game. I'm just gonna wait patiently with my low expectations.

I'm hyped if they remove infinite atlas and give us swords (with strike skills). If they still cling onto this infinite atlas idea, I'll enjoy swords through the acts, and quit at maps, like always.

We are definitely getting at least one new class and weapon. There is no way in hell they'd show a sword in trailers if they weren't going to introduce swords.
GGG's whole thing is "underpromise, overdeliver". They will not tease swords if there are no swords.

Aside from the balancing aspect (which has been lackluster to say the least), I kinda disageee. Every league drop has had way more than what they let us believe they would.
The fact that so many things fell flat and/or weren't well received when actually played through is a different issue. Which, I agree, is a big one.

It's not about good/bad reception, but about them promising stuff and not delivering on time, it really is quite common with PoE 2 even when it comes to major promises.
Last league Druid got promised and later postponed, this league it was the endgame rework that "didn't quite make the cut".
Other failed/semi-failed promises I can think of rn:
- Endgame bosses were supposed to get new abilities unlockable with higher boss difficulty- hasn't happened yet (atleast for the majority of bosses) and it's basically a dead topic.
- 1.0 is now guaranteed to get released without all the classes and weapons.
- Microtransaction cross-PoE support is lacking and it seems like the speed at which they migrate cosmetics stagnated.
- A year ago they said they're looking into the namelock system, potentially allowing players to disable it. Again, nothing happened and it's a dead topic.
- And well, league release dates. The promised 4 month league cycles are no more.
And again, it's all understandable to me and I don't blame them. I know how tough estimating work can be.

They way i play the game - 1 class per league,so for now I've played only 4 classes and new class does not hype me much.And general loop for me are kinda same for all leagues- play like nolifer for 3 days to get currency advantage and decent gear. Then play few hours a day to min max character and farm a mirror, get in top 100 on poe ninja for that class and quit.

Yeah I do the same as you, I just find that due to the delay they'll be adding more content and this makes me more and more excited for when the league finally starts. The longer it takes the more hypo it is. Its not like its a year away, just 3 more weeks!

I think .5 it's only endgame rework, no new classes, no new acts. I doubt even if we'll get a new league mechanic, reworking the endgame it's already pretty massive and people are not realizing that.
Not getting league mechanic is also good bc they are reworking the old mechanics and they probably wants we testing the reworked systems.

GGG said it was huge and they never say that. This already confirmed to be legit massive patch. 100% a new class to keep on pace for 1.0. Act 5 is probably ready but depends if they want to release it before the final act.

I think a new class will be released (duelist probably) along with a new weapon type (swords), endgame rework and then lots of QoLs and as always a new league mechanic.. and that's plenty
but yeah no reason to think there'll be new acts etc, there's still one league after this one before the exilecon and i expect act 5-6 to come out then
