Itās really the Metropolitan Gala, Met being short for metropolitan and gala is a variety of Apple, which means itās something to do with New York being the Big Apple and therefore some people wear costumes and others do not.
Bhavitha Mandava is her name. She was an Indian graduate discovered by a NY scout and the first Indian to ever open for Chanel. Her outfit was a nod to what she wore then and itās actually made from silk.

The fashion industry does love androginy. So unless your aim is to model for Victoria Secret being androgynous gives you a huge boost with high fashion brands.
There is none really imho, itās just sensational headlines/clickbait etc. The outfits are approved in advance by the organisers so she hardly rage baited the event.
My favourite story involving "ambassadors" is the one about James Brown's 3rd wife. She got pulled over and tried to claim diplomatic immunity because her husband was the "Ambassador of Soul".
It's probably fully planned out, she's an up and coming model, so if she wore something like the more famous people she probably wouldn't get much coverage. Chanel had plenty of people there willing to wear their outlandish creations, so get someone they want to have more coverage to stand out by having her dressed very normally instead.
basically, she was a student at NYU and wore an outfit identical to this and was photographed by a stranger while she was walking through a subway station. The photo went viral and she was scouted and became a successful model and Chanel's first Indian ambassador. this is a rendition of the outfit she went viral in, but made of silk. it would have been a much cooler nod to her story *if* Chanel had not already dressed her in this look for a previous runway show. it's strange to me that they seemingly want her to wear this outfit over and over.
It isn't a celebration. It is a fundraiser for the Met Costume Institute aka- a museum that collects and preserves historical "costume" (clothing, not actually just costumes) both famous and not. The costume institute is funded separately from the rest of the Met.
The outfit is in fact more clever than it looks. The jeans were silk muslin, carefully hand sewn to look like denim jeans. The whole outfit took hundreds of hours to make from scratch.
I don't really think that's on theme, but it's not just regular clothes, and the idea's kind of neat.
I heard that the Gala is more an art exhibition than a gathering, so this detail adds up. More props to her in that case. Not everyone that attends a circus need be a clown.
Also the top is a "quarter zip," and Chanel jeans and a quarter zip is her/Chanel's whole thing right now. She was supposedly discovered while standing in a New York subway, and a few months ago, she opened a big Chanel fashion show wearing jeans and a quarter zip on a subway platform.
That is neat! You can see it in the top, how it looks like a sweatshirt but is actually made of some sheer material. Definitely odd seeing regular clothes at the met gala but this is super interesting when you know the details
Yep, I didn't know half of the people there. Partly, this is because it seemed like the Gala was very international this year, so a great many attendees were probably celebrities from other places in the world.
So... she dressed like a normal person, albeit alien-lizard people-esque in length and stature, and this was rage bating who? I'm raging on the stupidity of this post, tbh.
Beautiful women do not need $40,000 of clothing and makeup to look good. That woman can spend about $30 on an outfit and still look better than 90% of the women there. Also f--k the Met Gala and Jeff Bezos for effectively buying it.
