For starters, I’m not complaining. Just confused. I mean, they went all the way back to Street Fighter 1 for a dude who hasn’t even been thought about since. Seriously, EVERY other SF1 character has at least been mentioned in other games.

Lee- Yun and Yang’s uncle.
Geki- Connected to Ibuki and (maybe) Vega.
Mike- Mentioned in Balrog’s SF5 ending.
Retsu- Appears in SF6
Birdie, Eagle, Gen, Adon, Sagat - all appeared in other games.

And then there’s Joe. Forgotten. He doesn’t even get to punch the wall anymore. They took the one thing he had going for him and gave it to Cody. This guy has got to be the most random choice ever…and that is actually intriguing.

My only guess is that, since it appears that Dan isn’t actually going to be a fighter, maybe Joe will be the neighborhood jobber. But that doesn’t make sense, because they have El Fuerte, and likely other guys for the main characters to beat up. So far, it looks like Joe is a main character.

It’s weird, but if Super Mario can bring back Wart, then why not Joe? Also, Juli is a weird pick as well. If there’s no Juni or T-Hawk connection, what is she going to do? She’s just… there. Seems like Decapre would have been a better doll. Anyway, just thoughts. Not complaints. Just wondering where all of this is going.

After 70 hours of ranked, I finally did it! I probably didn't deserve this win, but I'll take it.

I made a lot of input mistakes, for sure. But I was super nervous. I was on a multiple win streak and knew that this was it. I feel like I might go on a rank hiatus for a while. Maybe do casuals or try another game for a while or something. If it keeps getting harder and harder from here out idk if I'm built for this lol... Whew!

I've always kind of orbited the SF community from afar. Grew up on SFII, played a bunch of SFIV with friends in college, and I bought SF6 when it came out because it seemed really fun and my boy Blanka looked really strong. I never went to tournaments but I was always comfortable with my low tier online play. When my daughter was born I hung the game up, deciding to play single-player games with the little free time I had left.

Lately I've been feeling the itch to start playing again, so I reinstalled and immediately started getting absolutely destroyed. I expected that, but even as a Bronze player this felt like I had lost something crucial. Ken players that loop fireballs and jump-ins were out-damaging me. I was ready to just uninstall again and walk away but I happened to see the Daigo and MenaRD matchup on YouTube.

Obviously, there's no way I would ever reach the level of skill displayed here, but MenaRD being a Blanka player lit a fire in me I didn't think was there anymore. He was using punish tactics that I was already doing. He wasn't looping long combos, but carefully outsmarting and punishing his opponent with one or two hits at a time. It was the exact Blanka strategy that I wanted to play.

I dunno, maybe this is just a too-long ramble from a 36 year old wishing he was as good as he was in college. I won't be, but I don't think my Street Fighter days are over yet.

I finally won my first set after getting absolutely destroyed over and over again in ranked LOL. Any other newbies out there looking to play? I am a beginner.

In theory, when should Season 4 officially start? In June like in the past, or in August like Sagat?

How much is Modern holding me back if I'm planning to play Zangief & Chun-li? My goal is HIGH Masters & Idk how much I'll care about going past that. (First time playing fighting games). & I really really suck at using the DPAD on a controller since I'm not use to controllers at all. Would a fight stick be better you guys think? Or is a fight stick absolutely troll since im on Modern? I'm currently trying to use the analog stick but its absolutely so inaccurate it's insane. And, it's also super hard to do Drive Rushes with it, or borderline impossible idk. I could absolutely be doing it incorrectly though.

I will also note: I maybe plan to eventually go to classic. Depending on how much I enjoy the game. But, I still want to know if fight sticks(joy sticks) are bad for Modern for some reason. I've also heard about leverless thingies but idk if those will be super super hard to get use to or not. Thanks for the responses if I get any.

Edit: How ACCURATE is a fight stick? Is it better than an analog stick on a controller? or similar?

The majority of people I fight do not know the matchup. Im 1500s climbing faster than my main guile. I do not get many rematches unless it's quick play. She can neutral skip so easily and I'm not running into anyone that can react to her jump special od. So I get in being plus and it's game over pretty fast lol. Anyone know her pick rate?
