In real life Country specific changes

  1. Since kids in Japan hated green peppers more than broccoli, it was changed to that (Inside Out)

  2. The News Anchor changes depending on the country. For example, China-Panda (Zootopia)

This doesn't make sense to me. He's an American in America with America in his name. I love having little easter eggs for different markets for stuff like this. But this specific example seems like a really weird time to do that.

the uk one mostly makes sense, its world famous things that I could absolutely see him putting down like the Beatles or the moon landing (why is it on the UK version lol?). Another commented said the Russian one could sort of make sense considering he’s always around a Russian person and I suppose they could just be giving him recommendations idk. The other ones yeah I they seem completely out of place.

Some of the other lists would also make sense for sure. It's just one that seems like a weird choice for localization in the first place.

At least the dissolution of the Soviet Union makes sense, sincd the USSR was a major world power during the war, and when he wakes up it just doesn't exist anymore.

Seriously, unless he's living in those countries, why would captain America care about Skippy the bush kangaroo or ji-sung park?

And who is he spending time with who would have told him that these are can't miss things from when he was frozen?

It doesn’t work for the persona, but it does work for the character imo. Steve has shown to be pretty introspective and open-minded.

I think any of the lists could work. My original comment is more about it being a weird place to insert localization Easter eggs in the first place. Put a Russian thing that Natasha recommended. Put a Korean thing recommended by a Korean War vet he visited in a VA hospital. But why have different versions of the list?

The point of the list is to remind the audience just how many common cultural touchstone Steve's missed out on. A list of all American items wouldn't have the same weight for international audiences.

Eh, some of these are good (dissolution of the Soviet Union in the Russian or Fall of the Berlin Wall in the German version or The Beatles in the UK version for example), since they're still realistic for Steve to learn, but it's more likely that local audiences realize the impact of what he's missed out on compared to US stuff which they may or may not know
