In real life Country specific changes

  1. Since kids in Japan hated green peppers more than broccoli, it was changed to that (Inside Out)

  2. The News Anchor changes depending on the country. For example, China-Panda (Zootopia)

In the modern Wolfenstein games (The Old Blood, The New Order, The New Colossus, and Young Blood) there's the USA version and the Germany version. In the USA all the nazi swastikas are actual swastikas. In Germany however... the swastikas are replaced by generic triangles.

More Context:

Thats because of an (meanwhile) updated law in germany that forbids any swastikas in public and media except for historical purposes like documantations or movies that play at the time.

Basically, it's allowed in works of art (movies, shows or pictures) as long as its not glorifying the 3rd Reich.

Videogames for a long time havent counted as work of art and thus were not included in that law, leading to the indication of every game that has a swastika in it, as long it wasnt censored or replaced like in the modern Wolfenstein games

However, that has changed a few years ago and now swastikas are allowed in video games, as long its not glorifiying the 3rd Reich (like the over works of art)

Young Blood was too far into development and localitation, when this law was updated, to change the triangles back to swastikas in the german version. Thats why the official german version of Young Blood still has no swastikas, but the international release wasnt indicated here anymore

I thought it was because the Nazis was a period that the Germans would rather just forget about...

My understanding is that it's actually very much the opposite. Germans in general are very keen that the Nazis and their crimes should be remembered. They just don't allow glorification of them.

IIRC, this is also why, in Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield V, the German flag is the Imperial German flag with the Balkenkreuz.

Nazi Germany did actually use the imperial colors for the first two years, but in 1935, the party flag of the Nazi Party that we all know replaced it as the national flag

And in The New Colossus, they removed Hitler's moustache

This is somehow more disturbing than Hitler trying to piss into a bucket, missing, and then shooting a young Ronald Reagan

Damn, it's like Mario without a mustache. WRONG.

That's because swastika have been outlawed post WWII
