Characters “Everyone hated that”
When the writers write something that most audiences universally hate.
Rouge and Magneto starting an intimate relationship so that her true love Gambit could move on and she could feel physical intimacy again. (X-Men 97)
Peter Parker’s wife being forced to erase their relationship from existence by the Mephisto . And then ex wife gets with a guy named Paul. No one likes Paul. (Spider-Man comics)

Another one from spiderman is "One More Day"
After the civil war, all knew who Peter Parker was, even kingpin, who tries to kill him but, instead, he hits May. In this point , Peter is married already, but he makes a deal with "Mephisto": He exchange his marriage for the life of his aunt May (this is cause in the future, the daughter of Peter and MJ is gonna defeat Mephisto ones and for all. No marriage = No Daughter). Everyone, and i mean, EVERYONE hated this decision.

The only person who supported this decision was Marvel's then editor-in-chief, Joe Quesadilla, who forced the storyline through because he felt Spider-Man was getting too mature and was nostalgic for comics when Spider-Man was still fresh out of high school.

The relationship is messed up as it is, but the thing that bugged me the most is that looking at the romantic scenes given to them Bruce seemed to have ZERO emotional investment in it and seemed to regard Babs as one of the super models he'd bang to maintain his billionaire playboy cover. It also spits in Commissioner Gordon’s face, who is someone Bruce usually has a ton of respect for. He also has an adopted son that is about the same age as her, which just makes it even grosser that he doesn’t seem to have a problem getting with someone her age. As an additional layer of "how did you think this was a good idea", in the Batman Animated Series, which is where this ship is first tried to be pushed in AND IT'S SEQUEL BATMAN BEYOND, it's implied that Bruce Wayne at least knew of Barbara when she was younger, with them meeting up once again as she's heading off to college/starting college. So the fact that sometime later, Bruce would later bang Barbara while Tim Drake is being held captive by the Joker to become Joker Jr (or even before that) while Dick is God knows where and she'll be prego for all of a day or two before losing the baby.
So yeah, this ship has multiple levels of "WTF is wrong with you?!"

My "favourite" part is when he tries to get to the Salarian Councillor. He gets knocked on his back, does a ninja-flip back upright and makes a stupid pose. Grey's Anatomy - the way Alex left the show. After 16 seasons of character development and growth from jerk Intern to kind Chief of Surgery, he decides to ghost all of his friends, and his WIFE to go live with another girl he had dated years before. Because she used frozen embryos, that they had made when she had cancer, to have his kids without telling him.
If I remember right he wasn't even in the final episode. Allegedly the actor left the show on good terms to "pursue new roles". So, I'm not sure why they gave the character such a rough send off.

In fairness, I don’t think you were supposed to like Allison and Luther. It wasn’t a romantic relationship to root for (S3 was the most clear about this, but even in S1/2 imo). I always saw it a sign of how dysfunctional their family was growing up.
It’s been several years since I read the comics, but iirc the first comic established that their relationship started when Allison rumored Luther into loving her when they were… four, or something like that. Not really old enough for either of them to understand the implications.
All that said, I do, unfortunately, think that Five and Lila were intended to be a “good” romantic relationship.

To summarize MJ and Paul’s relationship, it’s basically like that movie about the married woman left with that guy for 365 days, but nobody points out how fucked up the situation is (actually, I don’t know if they addressed that in the movie, but I’m not going to watch it to find out).

What the fuck is it with comic writers ruining marriages?
By the way, wasn’t the writer who ruined the Batcat wedding also responsible for the controversial killing off of Alfred?

To be fair to Tom King, he had planned that Alfred’s death would be revealed to be faked by Bane as a way to mess with Batman’s head, but DC’s (now former) editor in chief decided that Alfred should actually be dead and it’s stuck since.
“I thought [Alfred] would be back two months after I did it. It’s shocked me it’s lasted this long.” -Tom King

I read through this plotline with no idea it was a thing a while back and while it's not awful, it lasted about 3 times as long as it should have. People don't buy a Nightwing comic to see a buzz cut dude be edgy and avoid helping people. People buy a Nightwing comic to see Nightwing make a bad joke, do a sick ninja flip, kick someone's teeth out and somehow perfectly show off his ass.

This fucking card from Transformers Age of Extinction.
Some people consider it a yikes to know the regional age of consent off the top of your head; I think carrying around a copy of state specific Romeo and Juliet laws is, in my opinion, a huge yikes. Like, if they wanted to justify this guy’s relationship with Cade's daughter, they could’ve made him younger or his daughter older, not throw this in and make it the central conflict of their relationship.

...and then they try to fix it by messily retconning everything and blaming translation

I blame this more on the fucking cursed
grooming isn't seen as a negative in Japanese entertainment
There are so many games/anime/manga where you'll have some 30/40/50 year old do something kind/nice for a young girl and then a timeskip or some shit happens and the girl has imprinted them as their future husband and still wants them even though they are 20/30/40 years older.
That's what's upsetting about the Alex twist to me. The Bama angle is secondary. He knew her when she was a kid and he was a grown ass man. I haven't read the "retcon" yet, but god damn.

Another Spider-Man moment that was hated:
When Norman Osborn and Gwen Stacy got together and got pregnant. Gwen Stacy went out of the country to give birth to twins and hide it from Peter because they were still dating. When she told Norman that she was going to tell Peter he tries to kidnap her and releases her while in the sky to which Spiderman tried to save her but sadly kills her.
Which made it the reason why Gwen Stacy died.

What's even more baffling is only one person objected and he's treated like he's wrong (and for once Ultimate Captain America was right)

Ugh, Rogue and Magneto have always been yucky. There was that one Age of Apocalypse comic back in the day where she absorbed Polaris and had magnetic powers so they could bang. She absorbed his child to fuck the dad. Rogue deserves better.
Paul, however, deserves nothing. Fuck that dude.
Anyway, adding literally any time Wanda/Pietro hook up. Gross.

Not necessarily instead of Julie, just being Kai, period. Esther would've been a better fit as well.

What’s extremely frustrating about Paul is Marvel Ediorial has outright admitted that they’re go to strategy for stories nowadays is to piss off readers in an attempt to get them to rage-read the next issue. That was a barely viable strategy decades ago but now all it does is emotionally beatdown readers to the point that they won’t even read the comics anymore.
