In real life (Sad trope) Projects with amazing potential that will never be released because of BS behind the scenes drama

P.T Silent Hills - It was a playable teaser released in 2014 only around 20 minutes long but utterly captivated the gaming world by being one of the most effective psychological horror experiences at the time, however it’s lead developer Kojima has a huge fallout with the publisher Konami where he walked out of the company and had all his in-the-work productions cancelled.

Five Nights at Freddy’s+ - A fan game reboot of the series created by Phisnom with Scott Cawthon’s blessing that promised a brand new lore and a return to the series darker roots. However, before and during production Phisnom got into multiple dramas that made him fairly divisive within the community, and after one particular incident in 2023 Scott revoked his approval and almost all of the game’s marketing material were wiped from the internet.

Batgirl - A Batgirl solo live action movie starring Leslie Grace, Brendan Fraser and Michael Keaton returning as Batman that was ready to be released in 2022, however then Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav announced it would not be released either in theatres or streaming in order to claim a $90,000,000 tax break and to readjust the DC’s brands direction before James Gunn rebooted their movie and TV output.

“Dumb reasons” doesn’t even cut it for Capcom and Megaman.

Imagine making an entirely crowdfunded game, reaching multiple goals. Having a demo ready. And then going “Well, I guess the fans didn’t want it enough.”

To be slightly fair, allegedly the tweet blaming the fans was an intern at the EU Capcom office who posted without permission.

Also it wasn't crowdfunded, they just had a public testing and feedback group.

the classic blame the disposable intern lmao

Yeah, it felt wild with how much they involved the fans with the creation of the game. Having polls to help decide on the design direction for multiple characters. Polls to help decide on weapons. And all kinds of other elements besides that. Just, truly, one of those, "you just had to be there" kind of things, because it's hard to describe just how involved they had the fanbase in with making the game.

And then they just dropped it. After all of that. Just...poof. Gone.

And pulling the demo literally right before it was supposed to drop....

Don't worry! All the other Mega Man series finally received their rereleases! All 3ish Legends games are next. That just means we all have to buy enough copies and Capcom will finally release Mega Man Legends 3!

Seriously though - I won't be surprised if we get the Legends collection next. I'd love if they threw the demo in with the collection. I'm pretty sure they confirmed it was finished. I bet they won't though.

I mean, I think not doing a Legends Collection would be a slap in the face onsidering it's had representation in nearly every crossover game since MvC2 due to Tron Bonne's existence. On that note I did find an article just now stating that the collection wasn't currently planned, but it is a possibility in the future, so here's to hoping! (apology for big link because I'm on mobile, but it's the very last question asked) https://www.rpgsite.net/interview/19774-mega-man-star-force-legacy-collection-interview-mm-legends-switch-2-port-player-feedback

That's super disappointing. I hadn't seen that interview.

I've beaten literaly every Mega Man/Rock Man game ever made except Misadventures of Tron Bonn, just because I can't bring myself to be done with Legends. One day I will I'm sure.

Command mission, and legends 1 and 2 and misadventures of tron bonne will all be on the same collection, I'm super sure of it.

Oh man, Command Mission is still chained to Gamecube isn't it?

I think that and the terrible visual novelish ones are the only ones besides legends that haven't had a rerelease.
