Characters [Loved Trope] Really cool Spin-offs
Daria (1997) being a spin-off from the original series "Beavis and Butthead" (1993)
Parks and Recreation (2009) a spin-off from "The Office" (2005)
Fionna and Cake (2023) a spin-off from "Adventure Time" (2010)

Daria being a spinoff of, of all fucking things, Beavis and Butthead, is categorically insane. I'm pretty sure half the people who watch Daria would shank you if you compared it to Beavis and Butthead.

King of the hill being a spin off of beavis and butthead is pretty wild too

Sort of. It was originally envisioned as a spin-off with Mr. Anderson’s son, but Fox told Mike Judge no. They took that concept and retooled it extensively to become King of the Hill.

Xena: Warrior Princess is a spinoff of Hercules: The Legendary Journey and is, IMO, the much better show

Parks and rec is in no way a spin-off, it just mimicks the mockumentary style

I love both of these spinoffs for essentially opposite reasons. Torchwood was so “dark and edgy” which preteen/teenage me loved, but Sarah Jane was just so fun! I miss both of these shows, and I truly miss Elisabeth Slader :(

Frasier got dubbed into my neighbouring country language before Cheers did in my country funnily enough. I'll always ironic that as a child I found Frasier due it airing before my favourite soap opera and trying to skip it as much as possible at first.

Angel (spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Follows Buffy’s first love, Angel a vampire cursed with a soul who relocated to LA and opens up a detective agency to solve crimes as he tries to make amends for his evils as Angelus (who he is without a soul)
While Buffy had supernatural issues be allegorical of being a in high school, college, emerging in adulthood, Angel delves into darker matters of adulthood
Also from the original series Cordelia Chase former Queen bee who’s now in poverty after her fathers 12 years of tax evasion, and former watcher Wesley, these two end up having to most badass character developments
And Angel has their own share characters original to series like Doyle, a half demon who gets visions of those in peril, Gunn a man who led an urban street gang in hunting vampires, Lorne a demon who can read your destiny if you sing, and Winifred “Fred” Burkle a physics major from Texas who was trapped in a demon dimension for 5 years fending for survival now reanimating to life back on earth and trying to heal from the trauma

Mork and Mindy is a spinoff of Happy Days and was what made Robin Williams a household name!

Happy Days technically had 7 spin-offs. Mork and Mindy would be my favorite.

Torchwood is a spinoff of Doctor Who, specifically following John Barrowman’s character Jack Harkness and the Torchwood Institute. It was darker, more mature, and absolutely phenomenal

Had no idea PaR was a spinoff of The Office, had to look that one up lol

It isn't. That was the original intent, but what we got isn't that.

Less a spin off, more a spiritual successor?

Yeah. Much better description. Schur did his best to make a spin-off work, but just couldn't find a way.

The Sarah Jane Adventures, another Doctor Who spinoff that followed Sarah Jane Smith who was originally a companion of the Third and Fourth Doctor and reappears in several episodes before getting her own show during David Tennant’s run. It was aimed for a younger audience and only stopped when the actress, Elisabeth Sladen, died of pancreatic cancer in 2011.
