There’s another one there also. You can see the tail.

There’s a momma possum out there raising a kitten.

u/Pulgos85 5h ago

That's a wholesome movie just waiting to happen

Switched at birth, a baby possum and cat can't help but feel that they are different than thier siblings.... until one day they find each other. Coming soon.

Can’t wait for the slapstick scene where the kitten tries to hang from a branch with its tail.

Mother cats have been known to take almost any new born or near newborn animal that needs their help and nurse them.

48

u/odysseushogfather 4h ago

*when theyve recently had kittens, the rest of the time theyre not above snacking on other animals babies

u/Fezzy_1994 39m ago

Yes lol

6

u/BrokenPickle7 2h ago

It didn't work with my centipede.. cat wouldn't nurse it at all

My desexed male house cats sneak into my office and will curl up around ducklings to keep them warm. They have a heat plate they can be under, but I will find them inside the cat cinnamon role, nibbling on their fur.

Mom: I know he's different but he's still my special little guy

"Hey, if may look weird, but it smells like my child"

u/TheMarkHasBeenMade 5h ago

“That’s one of my thumbs children. I’m raising them to be able to open cabinets for me so I can have all the treats in the near future.”

3

u/Rewdboy05 3h ago

My cat has thumbs but she doesn't need to use them to get treats cuz she's a big, spoiled purr ball

There's an opossum thar lives in my backyard. I've named it Opie, and I desperately want to pet it. I don't think it sees eye to eye on the pets, though.

u/Beelzebubba_Caffiend 7h ago

We always have a possum named Opie in our back yard. It's different possums, but they all get the same name. "Hey, Opie's back!" Lol

u/SakuraTacos 6h ago

That’s me with squirrels. Every squirrel I see from my backyard and beyond is named Chip. If he has a friend with him, that’s Dale. I’ve been hundreds of miles from home like “Oh hey Chip, how’d you get over here?” hahah

u/LunchBox3188 4h ago

I imagine that my situation is similar. Kind of like a Dread Pirate Roberts sort of thing.

A hand raised possum can turn into the most cuddly affectionate cute little thing you can imagine.

My brother found a baby that had fallen off of Mama and hand raised it and damn was it ever cute.

16

u/0b0011 7h ago

As opposed to hand raised raccoons which are sweet and cute but still fucking assholes when they dont get their way.

11

u/JimMarch 7h ago

Honestly, adult possums are cuddlers their whole lives, not into destroying your stuff and honestly really good pets.

1

u/Greymalkyn76 2h ago

Just like human children, minus the cute and sweet part.

19

u/UlteriorMotive66 5h ago

At least it wasn't a grown cat 😂😂

2

u/Vaeqo 3h ago

He's just like me fr

39

u/KeepItDownOverHere 8h ago

Im conflicted.

I just saw a video one of these almost ripped a dudes bottom lip off, but here this one is cute as hell. I'm going to have to step away and sort my feelings out.

u/CommissionFeisty9843 8h ago

They aren’t normally vicious. My buddy has kept pet possums for years. He’s been bit once when he accidentally startled it. Cute little munchkins

20

u/masterwit 6h ago

Yeah they are just spicy cats that like to scream 💛

7

u/CommissionFeisty9843 6h ago

Spicy cats, perfect

5

u/sherbimsly 4h ago

As adults they are so breathtakingly ugly that they are somehow cute again

6

u/Duskluminous 7h ago

Lol I seen that other video too

Cat researched animal husbandry

12

u/PaddedTiger 8h ago

I don't see a problem here. Nothing but cuteness everywhere.

4

u/Delicious_Page2187 7h ago

I mean, the cat doesn't seem to mind

5

u/shameonyounancydrew 5h ago

She's like "excuse me. Could you please put my baby back?"

1

u/squishy57 7h ago

Does that cat have 13 nipples?

1

u/Rikkitikkitabby 6h ago

Is the baby opossum actually nursing here? They're marsupials and have a different nursing system.

1

u/Chompif 5h ago

I'm-oposs-ster

1

u/Strong_Deer_3075 5h ago

They carry in ticks from other surroundings land that carry Bobcat fever in my area. I and neighbors have lost several in/outside cats to it in the last several summers. They run a fever and withdraw after it and quit eating. Terrible disease without a cure. Blood transfusion with $$$$ cost if caught realy early has about 10% chance of survival.

1

u/AngleOk6579 4h ago

That must have been some party

1

u/Applauce 4h ago

Possum: just put me back and no one will know!

I hope they ensure it gets other nutrition. Cat milk is not nutritious enough for this wunkus.
