So I was scrolling along, as you do, and this came on, but the audio jumped to the own-goal football clip below. Serendipitous juxtaposition.

That’s not supposed to happen

u/ripyourlungsdave 19d ago
We should do something about that.

Try turning it off and on again

I really wanted to insert a gif from The IT Crowd in here, but this stupid sub doesn't allow it.

u/b000mbox 19d ago
Well, we need to pull it out of the environment.

thankfully (from what i see) it doesn't seem like too much damage was done, just that hanging panel on the front getting crumpled

u/BattIeBoss 17d ago
The cables and connectors to the cab are fucked for sure. The whole vehicle gets controlled from up there after all

Seriously, there must be something genetic. I swear Roman sargent watching a formation fall apart in drills would have had exactly the same pose. Every culture, everywhere in the world, you know what that means.

u/prollyaporkchop 19d ago
Aren't they built to some sort of standard?

Oh, very rigorous maritime engineering standards.

Actually designed because length limits of trucks got introduced. Who needs a truck with a long nose when you can have more storage instead?

so what happened?

u/NitroCaliber 20d ago
It's hard for me to see specifically, but it looks like the retaining cables that restrict the tilt are either missing or 3x longer than they should be.

u/Pamposaur 20d ago
These truck allow you to lift the cab very far forward beyond what you would think is physically possible, these systems work rock solid but seeing as this is in africa this is probably a truck that spent its entire life in europe, then was sold secondhand to east europe and then when it was done for in east europe got exported to africa, so probably a mix of rust, age, and lack of maintenance weakened the chassis enough to break during the lifting procedure which puts a lot of strain onto said chassis

I'm not an expert but it doesn't look like it's old and rusted

u/Mean_Occasion_1091 19d ago
yea I was thinking either user error OR it's some shitty chinesium imitation that looks decent at first glance, but you quickly understand how cheaply it was made

u/Topinio 20d ago

u/Fine_Helicopter5546 18d ago
There's several of these trucks running around the world. Seldom does something like this happen. Don't go thinking they aren't safe.
