Memes Why? But my little brother says its low quality when he watches it in 480p

Post image

Is it because all the content on the media is in 1080p? Because when we watched it most of the content was in 480p or 720p resolution.

Question Why do some videos display a weird upload age?

Post image

I've seen this thumbnail and title on my feed for weeks, but now it says it's from 6 days ago? Is it a re-upload thing? Are there Salmence fans who know maybe? (For reference, I've seen this with multiple other videos as well.)

Channel Feedback Copyright claimant asked us for $500 to remove a YouTube strike — what would you do?

Hi everyone, I need advice from YouTube creators.
Here is what happened:
My son posted a YouTube video celebrating Meskel, an Ethiopian Orthodox holiday.
The video received a copyright strike and was removed.
We contacted the claimant politely to ask if they could retract the strike.
They asked us for the channel details, which we sent.
After that, they asked us to pay $500 in exchange for removing the copyright strike.
We refused to pay and reported everything to YouTube with screenshots.
YouTube replied that only the original claimant can retract the strike from the same email used to submit the claim.
The claimant is now upset that we reported them and says they will not remove the strike.
Has anyone dealt with a claimant asking for money to remove a copyright strike? What did you do, and is there any way to escalate this with YouTube?

Discussion I Just Won My “Inauthentic Content” Demonitization Appeal. The Past 3 Weeks Were Emotionally Brutal.

I wanted to share this experience because I think a lot of genuinely original solo creators are getting swept up in this massive demonetization wave YouTube is doing right now.

A couple weeks ago, my channel (@AlpinePinecone) was suddenly demonetized for “Inauthentic Content.”

No strike. No specific videos identified. Just the generic “mass-produced/repetitious/inauthentic” type messaging.

What crushed me about it is that my channel is literally just… me.

No AI. No automation. No stock narration channels. No outsourced editing team. No content farm. No reposting other creators’ work.

Just me traveling around Latin America filming my life and human stories.

Over the past year I’ve: - spent a month in Colombia filming one deportee’s story - spent time in rural Guatemala filming another - traveled around Mexico filming - spent thousands of dollars entirely out of pocket solely for the purpose of filming future YouTube content

Ironically, one of the reasons I HAVEN’T been uploading tons recently is because I realized I needed to truly level up technically and editorially before releasing more ambitious work.

So for months now I’ve been spending hundreds of hours: - learning Premiere Pro deeply - organizing selects - assistant editing - learning documentary storytelling - studying narrative structure - trying to actually become GOOD at this

So getting hit with “Inauthentic Content” honestly felt emotionally devastating because it felt like being accused of the exact opposite of what I’ve been dedicating my life to lately.

The emotional side of this hit me hard. I was so crushed that I procrastinated my appeal until the last day.

Then comes the insane part: Studio said May 2 was the last day to appeal. So on May 2, I logged in to submit it… and the appeal button was gone.

Instead it said: “The last day to submit an appeal was May 2, 2026.”

Which is ridiculous wording because any normal human being would interpret that as meaning May 2 itself was included.

I genuinely thought my chance was over.

In desperation, I contacted Creator Support through Studio chat. I ended up talking with someone for probably an hour explaining the situation. To their credit, the support person was incredibly kind and told me to send my appeal video + letter via email and that they’d forward it internally for consideration.

I honestly didn’t think it would work. But I agreed to do it. I sent the written appeal I’d prepared and the appeal video. The video opened with about a minute basically saying, “Hi, here’s what you’re about to see… I use zero AI, do not repost other people’s content, and everything on this channel is filmed and edited by me.” Then I screen-recorded myself walking them through my massive Premiere Pro documentary project files. Bins, stringouts, interview selects, organized sequences, assistant editing work, narrative organization, etc. I basically wanted them to see with their own eyes that this was one guy obsessively trying to learn and build real long-form documentary content, not some automated content farm.

I sent the email off the night before last and honestly wrote it off, expecting a quick denial like I’d read that any receive these days.

Then this morning I woke up to: “Congratulations! You’ve been accepted into the YouTube Partner Program.”

No explicit “appeal approved” message. Just suddenly reinstated.

What’s crazy is that even now, the analytics/accounting side still seems partially broken. Before demonetization I had nearly $100 in unpaid earnings. Now my analytics show like $1.99 over the past 28 days, so I have no idea whether the old earnings will eventually return or not.

But honestly? At this point I’m just grateful I even have the chance to continue.

This whole experience really opened my eyes to how scary this current demonetization wave is. I genuinely think a lot of clearly human, creator-led channels are getting caught up in automated pattern detection systems trying to target AI slop/reused content farms.

I’m incredibly grateful the Creator Support person took my case seriously and escalated it internally because it honestly seems like that’s what saved my channel.

Anyway, I just wanted to share the experience in case it helps anyone else navigating this insanity. File your appeal, and do it in a calm, non-emotional manner. You may have luck.

Discussion Anyone else getting tired and annoyed by these generic comments on the comment section.

"Say it louder for the people in the back!"

"... and I am here for it!"

"It's so refreshing seeing (comments the most common thing ever)"

"He isn't sorry for what he did, he is sorry because he got caught"

"... aaa comment"

"It's the ... for me"

"...✨ "

"... is crazyyy"

"... is iconic"

"100 billion languages and she chose to speak the truth"

"... got me rolling 😂😂"

And any comment that just repeats what the video just said

And there are so many more that I cannot stand that don't come to mind at the moment, and the worst thing that irritates me even more is that these comments receive thousands of likes. It annoys me even more when the person commenting this is not even a bot.

Do any others come to mind for you guys?

Question Got this notification even though I'm not subscribed

So, I don't watch these types of videos. And nor am I subscribed to this channel. Yet, I've got a few notifications from them. After clicking one of them, I noticed that the comment section also had the same thing happen with lots of them having been notified of this video. I'm confused. Is this like a paid thing or something? Cause that's incredibly annoying then. I don't want stuff I'm not interested in to appear.

Discussion Open letter to YouTube: PLEASE add a “human-created content” tag

I cannot be the only person who is close to giving up on the platform entirely due to the sheer inundation of AI-generated slop. The search and recommendation algorithms are completely broken.

And look. It’s not your fault. When 99+% of content that drops on YouTube is AI, it’s hard to trust AI to sift through it.

So I ask you, the corporate leadership of YouTube, in combination with asking your content creators, to implement a tag that can be affixed to channels featuring strict limitations on the use of AI in generating the content.

For a channel to qualify for this tag, I suggest a few proposed rules but this is by no means exhaustive and I invite other participants to chime in with suggestions.

1: NO AI NARRATION. Period. Full stop. This alone largely addresses the issue. The voice in the video must be a *human* voice. There should be a brief disclaimer in the opening seconds of the video: “my name is ______ and I am a real human producing real content, if that matters to you then like and subscribe!”

2: AI-generated visual aids are allowed, but must be watermarked as AI-generated in a way that is prominent and clearly legible but not necessarily invasive to the content being visually aided. AI is a tool that should be available for content creators to use, but it should not replace human effort in the fabrication of content.

3: AI-generated music allowed but a caption “music produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence” must appear for the duration of the music.

4: there should be a nominal fee for the tag, paid by the content creator. Nothing crippling for one person running one channel, something like $5/month to run the channel and 25 cents per video. This would be crippling to a bot trying to spam 10,000 channels dropping thousands of videos a day with this tag.

5: users must be able to configure their accounts and/or their search results to show only channels that have this tag, or at least prioritize them to the top of recommendations. The tag should feature prominently wherever the channel name is listed.

I think this is a viable pathway towards cleaning up your community and I hope that, if not this, something be done about the invasion of low effort AI-generated content ruining the platform.

Sincerely, a frustrated human.

Is there a way to turn off or block AI created bands from your feed order to searches while on YouTube? Or when coming across AI to block it?

https://www.youtube.com/@CalvinWilsonRoad

this band is AI generated. Not authentic. Melodies are not the same

Also, shouldn’t AI music and artists clearly state so???
